I've used the Awesome Auger a few times in my yard and surprisingly, it can handle the hard terrain. It works very well for plantings.

i like the augers. i have used them several times for different projects. Currently i am digging post holes for my fence. the ground is unusually hard when i use my post hole digger. i use the augers to start the holes, then finish up with the post hole digger. the free drill that came with the augers is not quite as good, however.
