The Plasma Cool Unit was introduced to me at a friends house. His house had no Central Air installed. I entered his family room from outdoors and was instantly refreshed by cool dry air. He told me, that he wheels it into his bedroom about an hour before bedtime, so he can sleep in comfort. This is just the item needed for those individuals that need air conditioning on a budget. It is ecconomical to run on 110 volts. Just the answer for an old house without A/C.

Plasma cool 14-E
written by Double A, July 13, 2010
Pros:
-Does a great job cooling the rooms in our apartment. -Love the portability. Cons: -The exhaust hose connection is flimsy, but was easily fixed with a little duct tape. -Didn't come with the filter, and we had to wait for the company to send it to the place where we bought it. -The controls are silly, with only a single shutoff and on event per cycle. -Only reads in Fahrenheit so 95% of the countries in the world have to do the conversion. Overall A great unit with a few minor bugs. We got it for a great price and it has served us well. report abuse

I'm so comfortable now that I have my plasma cool heater, that I'm staying home during the most miserable part of summer. If you want to see me then, you'll have to come to my house. (But you'd better phone first!)

You really do just plug it in, vent it out a window and get cool!

The No Drain technology really works!!
written by Susan, August 07, 2009 I did not belive that a portable AC could not need any draining. But it really is true that Plasma Cool PC14E portable AC takes care of all the water and moisture without having to empty the water tank. This is truely phenomenal as I am not as young and nimble as I used to be, and not having to strain my legs and back for emptying water trays does make it for a much nicer experience. report abuse

Difference between single hose and dual hose exhaust in portable acs
written by sunflower, July 31, 2009
I did some reasearch and found this very useful information on comparison of single hose vs. double hose. I hope this helps shed some light on the key differences.
Single Hose draws indoor air for both front cold air output as well as exhaust air (used to cool compressor). PROS: 1) Fresh air is exchanged within the room. 2) Higher energy efficiency. CONS: 1) Percentage of the air taken in is used to cool the condenser. As this air is exhaust out, it creates a negative air pressure. Air is continuously seeping in from adjacent rooms to replace the exhausted air. 2) Slower initial cool down. Dual Hose draws indoor air for front cold air output and draws outdoor air for exhaust air. PROS: 1) If outside temperature is lower than indoor temperature, compressor can be cooled down faster and produce colder front air output. 2) No negative pressure created within the room 3) Initial cool down of room is quicker than single hose. CONS: 1) Same air circulating within the room, which will decrease in oxygen and increase in carbon dioxide. 2) If outside temperature is high (>90??F) or when humidity is high (>80%), compressor cannot be cooled and results is increased temperature of front air output. In such cases, the second hose should not used to prevent the compressor from overheating. 3) Uses two internal fans and consumes more energy due to added hose. report abuse

I am a satisfied camper with Plasma Cool :-)
written by sunflower, July 30, 2009
I thought I would share my personal experience after reading these recent postings. I was looking for an ac that did not need venting/hose. But after doing large amount of research on features, specifications and price comparisons, one thing became clear that Portable acs must have hoses to expel/vent warm air. Without a hose the heat will be expelled indoors and reduce the impact of cold air in the room. One of the best I have found in the market is Plasma Cool portable PC-14E. It is easily portable on wheels, very strong – 14,000 BTUs cooling rooms upto 500 sq. ft., does not require draining, removes tons of moisture from air every day, looks ultra modern and best of all saves on electricity bills. I have been using it for about 4 months now, and have so far not found issues about not having double hose that one of the reviewers mentioned on this site. The ac costs $599 (worth every cent), offers installment plan and can be ordered online. It ships very quickly and offers free shipping and generous warranty. Hope this helps.

Plasma Cool PC 14-E - Slight Correction on my last review
written by SonMay, July 26, 2009
There is a slight correction to my review posted on 21st July.
I ordered plasma cool pc 14E and received the AC in 5 days. I am at the moment in the 30 day risk free trial period, and the AC has been delivering what it promises. At this rate, it seems certain that I will keep the AC. Besides my two teenage kids have fallen in love with the new AC and they take turns to move the AC in their rooms on alternate days. We might just buy another one of pc 14E because my large house could use a couple of very powerful ACs which save me trouble of draining water all the time. I heard that these acs save you a lot of electricity bills. I am unemployed so every bit of saving would be very helpful. report abuse

Trust Plasma Cool Portable PC 14-E AC to deliver what it advertizes!
written by JSneider, July 26, 2009
My husband and I owned plasma portable ac before we got their new model PC - 14E recently. We researched information on this product and found information on features/specifications laid out in a simple and comprehensible manner. We had already had read good reviews about the new model that it made much less noise and did not require worries over water drainage, but after checking out the website, we felt much better about our decision. We are satisfied so far, actually quite happy because the old unit was sort of worn out and needed a lot of looking after. Pros – The best part is no need to drain water every few hours. The unit auto drains. It works very quietly, rolls on the floor smoothly to move from room to room, and I like the modern looks. Cons – we did not plan to spend $600 on an ac unit, but I guess the cooling effect and lower electricity bills justify the price in the long run. Our shipping took little longer than the company advertizes.

But what really amazed me is that i originally had an in window ***tag 8000 BTU. The current consumption of that little beast was about 800 watts, PC14e is about 1100 watts yet I get almost double the BTU's.
The sound level is almost identical to the in window so that a null point.
But the big plus is now i don't have to block out my windows with a huge board that would sit above the in window one. I can pull the curtain back in the evening and still get good lighting. Or if i prefer I can shut the unit down and just open the window.
Pretty impressive unit for the money paid!
