Before Victory At Sea, the average American had never had the opportunity to see major world events beamed directly into their living rooms. This documentary also marked a first attempt to use television to produce a complete, public record of a major event of any magnitude. Considered such an important landmark in broadcasting and the safe-keeping of history, Victory at Sea was aired in the 1950s by NBC entirely without commercial breaks. The series was huge in the lives of Americans, and it won both Emmy and Peabody awards for excellence in public affairs programming. Originally sold on TV for $199.99, today all 26 digitally restored, original episodes are available for the astonishing price of only $9.99 -- a super bargain and a terrific stocking stuffer for veterans of WWII – and of all future campaigns!
A Gripping Account of World War II
Today, Victory at Sea, all 26 groundbreaking episodes (Design for War, The Pacific Boils Over, Sealing the Breach, Midway is East, Mediterranean Mosaic, Guadalcanal, Rings Around Rabaul, Marenstrum, Sea and Sand, Beneath the Southern Cross, The Magnetic North, Suicide for Glory, Design for Peace, Conquest of Micronesia, Melanesian Nightmare, Roman Renaissance, D-Day, Killers and the Kill, The Turkey Shoot, Two if by Sea, The Battle for Leyte Gulf, Return of the Allies, Full Fathom Five, The Fate of Europe, Target Suribachi, and The Road to Mandalay) have been lovingly restored -- complete with modern introductions for each installment and timelessly beautiful Richard Rodgers soundtrack.
The series captures our nation’s enormous sacrifices in order to win the war. This is real history -- not Hollywood -- and it will cause you to marvel on the relative security of the United States since World War II.
A Perfect Gift for Veterans!
Victory at Sea will drop you right back into the feelings you had the first time you watched the original broadcasts, possibly more than 40 years ago! You won’t be disappointed -- the archival footage is at its best, and it looks amazingly good on modern equipment. The genius of Richard Rodgers’ music track and Leonard Graves’ excellent narration come through beautifully in Dolby. A true pioneering effort in documenting WWII and, specifically, the war at sea, this documentary series is a must-have for any serious collector, student or enthusiast.

I remember it so vividly and this brought back so many memories. What a wonderful production this was; especially the music.
What a life-and-death struggle that was. I had three uncles who were fighting in the Pacific; two came back, one didn't.
As has been posted, everyone needs to be reminded from time to time.
