As far as I’m aware, I believe the Xbox is still restricted to the SN530 from WD.
I’ve seen a load of videos of users trying to use other brands, but the console just doesn’t start with anything else.

So you are comparing the internal storage of the Xbox Series X to the external expansion slot from the PS5, which is the dumbest shit I have seen in a while. Just so you know, the internal storage in the PS5 is SOLDERED onto the board! You are comparing apples to oranges here.
Luckily 1TB in the series X is enough for me, I wouldn't buy a Xbox at all if thought that I would need an expansion

Though the Xbox Series S when bought at 300 bucks, is the best deal. Add Xbox Game Pass and it’s like hard to beat.

Hacking community can fix that. Mod the Xbox Series S into a PC where it can run Windows or Steam OS. It would be the be a pretty decent Gaming PC and cost less than a GeForce RTX 3060 alone.

This isn't accurate as you are not upgrading the internal storage on the PS5, you are adding an expansion SSD. As he says, the expansion to the Xbox is on the back which is the equivalent to what you did on the PS5

However you have to clone the Xbox drive to the new SSD.
The SSD is locked to console. Vice versa, if you don't clone it and you lose stock SSD, your Xbox is bricked permanently.
They make that difficult so you can buy expansion by xbox.

Well the compare is wrong.. secondary expansion on the xbox is the hot swap dongle, if you take the xbox apart to remove the primary, the you have to do the same with the ps5 and i am not even sure it is upgradeble
At least you can replace the internal SSD in the Xbox Series X without soldering skills, unlike the PS5, where it's hardwired! =D
Regarding the upgrade, I think it's interesting that both manufacturers chose different paths, but wish there was an M.2 adapter for Xbox.
We need to live in a world where these design choices by Microsoft would immediately result in a court case… where they have to bring up some seriously good arguments in their defense for this blatantly obvious right to repair sabotage to enable upselling these expansion cards. How can they even dare to do this, when the competition manages to do it perfectly fine? They shouldn't just get some bad press coverage for this, no – Microsoft should be severely punished in court for this.
We really need to get some good right2repair laws enacted, ya'll…

I get, why for example the steam Deck uses one. There ist that much space in a Handheld. But the series X is huge…

The Xbox storage is brilliant. It comes in real handy when you have 2 Xboxes and you want to play games on the other Xbox. All you do is take it out and put it in the other one. Nobody is doing that with a PS5.
