At one point, Amazon was game changing and felt like the best place to shop online. Don’t have to worry about the scams and crappy quality on Ebay and Alibaba. But then something changed. Suddenly all you can find on the website is cheap garbage, or worse, complete scams. We take a look at one of the most prevalent scams on the platform, fake SSDs and hard drives. What do you get when you buy one of these, and how do they keep getting away with it?

The net result is that I no longer buy anything computer-related from Amazon.
But I represent a very small percentage of customers who can differentiate a scam from a genuine product.

Banned sellers will come back under another name.
The best solution is to just remove Amazon from existence.
Legitimate products being hijacked by scammers hurts legitimate sellers.
It is not short term but has been going on for years.
Linus is so genuine. It's hard to trust anything posted these days but LTT is just a legit business making sure other "businesses" are living up to their word
Very common for one group of Chinese scammers to rip off another group of scammers. Happens in USA and Europe as well.
Would never buy tech / computer parts from amazon. Never ever!!

one time amazon sent me a 250 keyboard with paper in the box only and refused to give me my money back
Amazon recruited too many fly-by-night sellers and you get this. Such companies have paid reviews or ratings.

I bought a 6 TB Seagate Barracuda HDD via Amazon UK, fulfilled by Amazon UK which was about £20 cheaper than the Amazon price, so not 'cheap enough' to scream 'rip-off.'
When I got around to installing it, I discovered the sealed packaging stated it was an 8 TB Seagate HDD. The 6 TB drive I ordered was inside the box
When I attempted to install it in the PC it wouldn't show up, regardless of what I tried – fortunately, Amazon as the shipment fulfiller, refunded me.
On the bright side, the seller's Storefront is no longer on Amazon.
Buy nice, pay twice! As I always say.

Fun fact. If you need to register your business in the US, and you are in China, you can just call the US government and ask to register. The US government will even do it without verification.
I'm curious as to the difference between how Amazon deal with things and how AliExpress deal with things. I've yet to have any major issues with AliExpress. I used buy and sell old ICs but a couple of times received stock listed as new when they clearly weren't and AliExpress stepped in no problem. I think AliExpress hold funds in Escrow, which obviously puts the ball firmly in their suppliers' courts. If they want their money, they need to be sure of their products.
They should allow simple edits, and always make it possible to see the item history.
Also, put the item title against the review.

I hope they reported the products/sellers and secured a refund as well.
It's perfectly plausible for Amazon to use ML techniques to flag up strange listings that just don't seem plausible, pre-empting this problem.
In Poland, we have Allegro (somewhat Amazon + local sales). If you sold even one product in your offer, you cannot change its name, category and few other things. You have to go to Seller Help Service and ask if they would do it for you.

Tip on hot glue removal: Soak a paper towel in isopropyl alcohol and let it rest on the glue for 5-10 minutes to saturate it. You can very easily remove it then
I use the fakespot plugin for the Browser to check the review wich gives u a grade A-F how trustworthy the reviews are the Company ist. It workt well for me.
Allow users to edit listings but not be able to edit or change/delete photos of that listing.
Limit one amazon account/seller account per computer IP. No one has time even scammers to get endless amounts of computers to continue to sell fake products..
Ensure reviews can only be made if the customer has successfully paid for a product.
Best Seller list should only be on the list if a product has more than 4 stars.
combine it all and bam makes it harder for scammers.
I just recommend anyone looking to by tech from a brick and mortar store aka a physical store to buy your tech.
This issues happend all time with these products and all, and from customer support never refund this, all time all kind of problems for refund, the problem it´s don´t exists scammers the problem it´s when Amazon is the scammer and let this and let scam customer, actually Amazon it´s the worst provider for buy electronics products, and we can speak also about fake CPUs and fake graphic cards, sell used products as new, etc, and continue let sell these products, and scam the people, thank´s for this video, i think it´s time tell all people the true about how Amazon scam the customers
I still wouldn't pay $70 for a screwdriver with attachments.. where I live you can get a screwdriver for like $5 and a pack of 30 bit attachments for like $30
Athough the site has its negatives, Blocket here in sweden is a selling site just like Ebay and i think Amazon could atleast think about this:
Specifically the Re-listing problem/Scam, Blocket reviews every edit you make on the product page so if you edit to another brand and or product it will most likely be denied.
Would be good if Amazon could implement that for this specific issue but i guess it costs extra manhours for the company.
Same with new listings, they get reviewed within 1-2 hours before they go live, its not perfect but its a good way to limit scams.
Or Atleast show product page history loud and clear to see if its been edited.
