time stamps?
"I have a moral dilemma" that should have been the end to that discussion
Where's timestamp guy?
So this is the April Fools short WAN show
Marketing, the field, the education, everything about it, sees dishonesty as literally their product. Going to them and saying "well, I am looking for an honest marketer, though" will be met with full-belly laughs. Honesty is, quite simply, not what they do. You're asking LTT to make videos about computational biology. That is quite simply not what they do.
Looking forward to a 5 hours show next week.
I buy CD's, Luke is too young to be your best friend you need a fellow 45 year old 😀
Don't worry. Giving the American government more power has always gone well, just look at how well it's worked for Canada!
dafaq 4.5 hours again? We are getting early close to a 1/4 day show… That's the gateway drug for 24 hour stream with two 12 hour shifts
Luke is going to be so mind-blown when he learns that vinyls are also still being sold, as are the device to play them…
Ok, I'll start my Saturday chores soon, I'll just watch one YouTube video first…
Learn our history or be doomed to repeat it
I bought programming books last year
Where's the timestamp guy? He's slipping recently
The idea of not working with liars and cheaters is great in theory, but it's a global economy and it's impossible to not do something that ultimately supports people who you think are morally bankrupt. Everything you buy enriches and supports the agenda of someone you don't want to. It's great to not directly support people who you think are bad actors, but it's absurdly unrealistic to expect everyone in the chain to fall under your moral compass.
I love my camping over here in Australia and there are a lot of times when you are just so remote that CD players in your car are your only source of music. Sure you could have a mass of MP3s and 3.5mm jack but sometimes your car isn't that modern. Plus there's something to be said for the old mix tape that is lost with a Spotify playlist. I'm also a truck driver and again, if you don't like radio most trucks at my company have a cassette or CD player but no Bluetooth and yes, I am often out in remote areas with no cell service. Digital and streaming music has a place but actually owning a physical collection of a band or artist has a romance to it and the benefit of compatibility that is still relevant despite how far we've come.
57:16 You could do a two part replacement. You could have a small ring that gets pressed once on the zipper and then you could just swap the carabiner when ever you want. Problem solved.
Where's the time stamp guy?
@Luke that "swiss cheese security", that is the same stuff as that in high-reliability industrial enviornments as well as in military are called "Defense in depth", it has been used for decades (and they deploy that thinking both in physical and IT) – the difference is that commercial IT finally has gotten around to it, and that industrial tries to make each defense sufficient on its own.
Look, at this point they are just testing our tolerance level…
four and a half hours?!? God damn.
a musician might make $10 profit from a cd, $15 from vinyl and $0.003 per stream on spotify. if an album has 10 tracks that equals 333 times increase in profit for each cd sold.
google search and the internet is much worse because of these list and aggregate websites that end up on search results not associated with a buyer trying to buy a specific product. I get a ton of results and technologies trying to sell me on subscription services instead of what i am asking for.
hahahaha gotta love seeing linus get bullied into selling cool stuff
Interesting discussion on gambling.
A guy i work with spent 1k on fifa over a month, he had to sell his PS because he couldn't trust himself. it's the "gotcha" issue. Any game you spend actual money on i e. gotchas, without a known outcome is gambling. A way they get around it is making your money into "gems" or something then you'll be willing to spend more as it's no longer your currency.
OMG 1990 SUNBIRD WAS MY FIRST CAR TOO XD It was in 2007, and cost me $800 😅
At least these shows are long, but so are 12 hour shifts 😢
On the FlipperZero question — evidently it's time to go back to far more analogue security systems if script kiddies breaking your dogshit digi pad is an increasing concern
How did they not address Bill C-11 🫣
This was one of the funniest wan shows in a long time
I never need to type passwords beside inside RDP, I only ever paste or auto-type them.

I am still trying to buy CD with music as much as I can. I transcode them to FLAC and listen on a go, in high resolution (even if I probably couldn't tell the difference between FLAC and mp3), while not being connected to the internet. And I can listen to whatever I want, wherever I want, whenever I want. Additionally to that, I have a physical copy of the music I have bought. So I can store CDs in a carton box in my home, have FLACs on my PC, NAS, and a portable music player and digital backup offsite.
All I need is just portable, external optical drive for my PC.
And it really annoys me when the musician doesn't provide CDs for me to buy.
I always have to laugh at the CD discussion, most of my business is still CD production 😂, we're a little slower here in Africa and people do prefer to buy a physical product here.
LTT should do a video about the value of library's. I mean there is the topic of digital books and licenses to tackle for LTT.
While mostly not often used by people like me the value for society's is big. If your family is poor or if your parents suck, your home is no place to study, if you have a habit of reading lots, If you need Internet access but have no access to Internet. All those people need a refuge that library's will grant them.
ahhhhhhhhhhhh yes the first topic ist sooooooooooo funny comming from the us , how about banning the us from everywehere , who was it who spyed on german politicans ?
There is no big chain in the USA sales CD
On the marketing efforts for the back, etc. I am absolutely on Luke's side! Do not work with these people! – It will rub off on Linus Media Group's credibility!
No one buys CDs lol
This is turning more and more into an advertisement for their own products and becoming less and less a tech show…..
"You think US is so innocent?" -Luke & DJT
Linus’ take on the affiliate program was SO cringe. Linus, listen to Luke, love you but you need to listen to that reality.
1:55:20 for AI 😉
for 59:29 is actually dead simple: put a warning docs that they must video document the replacement, due how simple the process are. Just warn them that those tool only for zipper replacement or repair, not customization. If user use that for customization after use the replacement, then the warranty is voided. The warranty is covered as long as use LTT carabiner replacement and they cannot claim warranty if they use other carabiner or zippers.
I think Luke idea is not bad, just put an option of color when they claim the replacement. put time window of it, then after time window they only can buy it. Also put warning that they only can use it ONCE (or twice).
