Using WD40 on your carpet is an awful idea. You May get rid of whatever was originally staining the carpet but you’ll then be left with oil soaked fibers that will attract dirt to that spot over and over. So you’re getting rid of a stain but adding another problem.

WD 40 leaves a bad smell for a loooooong time. Would NOT spray on your shoes.
Remember if you do any of these hacks if you smoke don’t smoke around any of the objects for at least 48 hours to let it fully evaporate becuase wd40 is very flammable. The one with the toaster I would not do
