Whoops! Here's a link to the full sized panoramic photos:

its not so cheap but its great
My MSI Crosshair slays this thing for half the price with 144hz, i7 11800H, and a 3060.
That said, my finger hovered over this guy a while.
I'm thinking I do this with the 200mp camera on the s23u
@linustechtips wanna fly me over and we can shoot an even bigger one, over 9000mp?
The laptop might be an absolutely brilliant computer but it still has the sh!t ergonomics of any old laptop.
Do this again with Mac Studio.
Doesn't that make the photo to 15K? or maybe even a little more?
I thought that gaming PCs didn't exist before the 2023 CES nVidia presentation…
Bruh i thought my laptop was good
It’s pretty funny how much this hasn’t changed since I did it all the time with CS2. Photoshop not Lightroom but AIUI the Photomerge tool is the same either way.
Though in Photoshop you could examine the layers and see which photos it skipped, which photos it kept only a tiny sliver of, and choose your own crop.
And of course there was no AI fill tool, you had to spend hours with a clone stamp tool and it often looked pretty bad under scrutiny 😛
And indeed sometimes my Core 2 Duo laptop took sometimes 6 hours to process these. (It was probably swapping RAM a huge amount.) And sometimes it was just broken! I guess it was kinda like working with film in that way.
Did you count the pixels by hand? 😉
You know, people hate on Dell and often for good reason but my G7 17" is extremely (and almost certainly deliberately) easy to open and easy to upgrade and that's been my experience with every Dell laptop I've ever owned, starting with a Vostro in 2012, a couple Latitudes and Inspirons over the years, this G7, and my wife's Alienware m17.
Might want to try it on a modded server with dozens of cores and hundreds of gigs of ram
The human eye is about 576 megapixel.
Give or take a few million bits pre-processed. I wonder what it is in packets & an visual filter compression unit method?🤔 80 to 90% of information is used visually, but movements & color depth is another subject in the present.
Imagine casual 500mp pictures on a phone in 10 years time
you really need to hate yourself if u have a bunch of heavy workstations at your workspace and use a laptop for this task 😛
i'm gonna play around with this method. seems rather fun given that one doesn't need a high end camera to do this.
The sun was behind the subject. That is why it looks like 💩
"zee 16" Shame on Linus, for isn't it pronounced "zed" in Canada, eh?
"I took 71 photos, which is probably too many" My computer as I am watching this tutorial with over 400 pictures: "(chuckles) I'm in danger"
If this job required so much processing, why use a laptop, get a proper computer.
The whole point of a laptop is mobile computing, if the job takes more that, say 10 minutes, then your not mobile, so take the job back to the shop/studio and get serious.
Laptops can be handy with photography, somewhere to unload your full memory cards, or preview on a bigger screen, but no good for editing. you need a good environment with an accurate display, not something achievable on a laptop in a corner cafe etc.
The large tree in the background was pasted over 3 times and you guys only saw the little tree. lol
Yeah, the single pic looks better
I do this all the time and had no idea there was an actual name for it lmao. cool!
That automatic "hole fill" is pretty damn impressive. If it hadn't duplicated that one large and distinctive bare branch, you'd be hard-pressed to figure out where the gap was if you didn't already know there was one there.
One tip for maximizing the image quality by shooting RAW: shoot one picture with wide lens to the rough area you want to shoot, then keeping the exact aperture, ISO, and shutter speed, shoot with tele lens panoramically. In Lightroom import all of them and only edit the wide shot as a reference, when you're happy with it just sync the adjustments to the rest of the tele photos (if there's some over/underexposed photos.. well it's just a tiny part of one image in the end), and finally merge it as panorama. Also, while you shooting tele panoramically make sure to use manual focus and focusing on one point you want to shoot at the beginning and leave it there, that's the point of this method.
outside of topic from 3:00 onwards the camera shake is horrible…
This laptop reminds me of of my Dell Precision 7540, though my 7540 is older than this so its not quite as specked
I'm doing this on a regular basis and my M1 MBP renders it in just under a minute, merged from 15-20 photos.
Made with a Hasselblad H2D-39
it took an HOUR to render how terrible!!!!
pfffff….just last night I rendered a simple 360 rotation animation (3 second animation 25fps) and just finished now after 15 hours, using my Acer nitro 5 with rtx3050
15 hours for 82 frames and my laptop is still shaking in horror, now that's what we call rendering in our world you amateurs…
12:58 look at the subtitles
question about the z16: will it dame?
I'vw made panoramas likw that before — back in 2011, on an hp laptop running an intel duo-core cpu.
It's funny how Linus is acting like he doesn't know all of this stuff beforehand (in the first part of the video) just to make the kid look interesting, it's also a sign of maturity which i do appreciate. Good stuff Linus, on the other side of the note your acting part kinda disappointed, but we can work on that in the long run.
guys… My computer appearently doesn't have enough memory to OPEN the second panorama 😀 (how is that even possible I am running 16 gb of ram on a clean windows 10 build)
my laptop struggled to even open the image
Imagine with the M1 Ultra
so i found photoshop is better for bigger panoramas, but it also like fills up your hard drive with temporary files. Brenizer method also worked really well for my brothers Graduation Picture
of course Linus almost dropped it 🤦♂
Damn this is one of the worst caption videos I've seen in a while. Chastity instead of chassis? Lmao
12:40 happened to me once
1 Billion Pixels.

Should try running 3D model triangulation from those pictures as a test. Photogrammetry eats up memory & cpu
