I am unsure whether my monitor's included DisplayPort cable is a 1.2 or 1.4, but I know it can't be 2.0 because of my monitor's age. It supports 144hz however.

It appears that in the last year the capability and QC on cables has improved in the last year. I was not able to get a cable longer than 3M(which I believe is the limitation of the official spec) that could drive a monitor of any resolution at higher than 60hz… it occasionally worked, but overall was hit and miss. Now I can get a cable that is 25ft long that works.. it is the ones labeled 8K… I don't think my devices properly support the newest DP, I think it has more to do with the quality increase required for whatever is necessary to run 8K

Will you do this for Ethernet cables too please? Ethernet cable brands like DBillionDa, Monoprice, Cable Matters, etc. Will you also test to see if they don’t interfere with each other, like EMI, and test if they really work good in walls and outdoors please?

2.1 of high quality does buying DisplayPort 1.4 pay off since the monitor is only HDMI 2.0 but has DisplayPort 1.4 which cable to choose to get the best quality from the monitor in game which one would you choose ??

Tbh, I think the little locking tabs on DP are just a royal pain in the ass. Pushing down on that thing never seems to fully lower them, so you're still tugging kinda hard to get it out of the port. That and I don't really see the use case…If 99% of the time they're hooking up a pc and monitor, then they're likely behind a desk or something where nothing is going to accidentally tug them out in the first place, and I've never had an hdmi cable just accidentally pop out.

exceptional assessment. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I've come to the conclusion recently that most of the sh*t on Amazon is garbage – many cables claim to be Displayport 2.0 spec cables – most are not. Some even claim to be 2.1 spec cables – more false advertisng. THe problem is, Amazon verifies nothing, and allows Chinese companies to sell directly on their platform. I would believe a 5x convicted felon before I believe anything 99% of the Chinese companies say. They very nearly ALWAYS put money before truth or integrity, or credibility. Hate to say it – never trust the Chinese. Same goes for much of everything sold on Amazon by the Chinese.

Speaking of cable bandwidth limitations: I once bought an HDMI to DVI cable and it wouldn't run my monitor at 1440p correctly. I ended up having to make a custom resolution so that I could set the refresh rate to 55Hz instead of 60Hz. It took me many hours, a replacement cable, and the better part of my sanity to figure out that I had to underclock my monitor by 5Hz.

Unfortunately after watching this I purchased two MonoPrice 2.0 DP cables and while one "seems" to fully work, the other stops my AW3423DW from waking and causes my Odyssey G9 to get stuck in an input detection loop where you can't even access the OSD. This is just when it's plugged into either port, not even connected to a device.
Now this Canadian has the American spirit
It's killing me why my monitor keeps going back to 100Hz from 144Hz with DisplayPort. Never occured me it could be the cable. 😀

I bought an AOC 32" 1080p monitor that I went through hell figuring out black screens all to find out that the in the box cable that came with the monitor was crap.

Recently I bought the silkland DP 1.4 6ft cable from Amazon as the previous 3 ft one that I used was constantly causing flickering issues. I noticed that there was tension on the 3 ft cable and it had those locking tabs at the end of the cable which made me think maybe it's not connecting properly to the GPU. So I bought the silkland cable and everything is going good without any issues. Also the Intel gpus have DP 2?? Damn imagine paying $2k for a 4090 and not getting DP 2 🤡
