  1. My wife still uses a AMD Phenom II (2010), I might just put Atlas OS on it to make it a bit more responsive, but its still fine for playing older games. (she's into Sims and Zootycoon and needs a DVD drive).

  2. Yeah that’s not that old compared to most people a lot use 4th gen intel still no way would that be thrown away could at least have used something actually old and useless

  3. I almost wish Microsoft would release their own "barebones" version of windows.

Would be so nice to just start with the bare essentials and work up from there.

  4. I've got to ask, how would this go on a current gaming pc or something fairly new, but maybe with more budget oriented components. Could it be the difference between say a going a generation behind or two in GPU and still being able to pump out high framerate on the modern esport titles with higher graphic settings?

  5. GHOSTSPECTRE > Windows Standard Installation

  6. Good video, but I would have liked a closer look at what is removed. Especially the security related things, like Defender and other Mitigations. For an offline machine, great. For an online machine, it could be risky.

  7. Lainoose give me 3080 please

  8. Is that a GPU shaped flash drive he was using? That's cute. I want one. c:
And using an 8BitDo Zero for navigation is a really good idea. Might use mine for something like that in art software.

  9. My computer is from 2016 and I have zero chance of an upgrade the next 3 years🤷🏼
But As long as it just does not break down, I'll survive 😅

  10. And personally I would consider a computer from 2017 "fairly modern" 🙃My latest "re-use" was my old 2007-rig up, I fixed it up as a secondary computer for my mother's guest cabin (which was actually kind of hard to do). It was a core2duo, which was later upgraded to a Core2Quad Q9550 with whoppin' 8GB of RAM. it lacks the latest SSE instructions and doesn't have native support for Windows 10… Linux works good though, But the graphics card + driver didn't perform very well with either Gnome or Proton… I'm on the fence right now, I would love to fix it up, but I don't want to spend money on a GPU… Keep in mind it's a PCI-e Gen 1 16x slot. 🙂

  11. My little frankenstein pc is 8 years old now
The only thing ive actually upgraded is the gpu and replaced a couple power supplies
GTX1070 and shittier MB & CPU than this build and it can run basically any game i want to throw at it at 1080p 60FPS. Eventually ill replace the MB and get a CPU with some more cores but im broke and it still makes video games happen so why would I spend money i dont have on something I dont really need

  12. I was using a 4770k and 1070 @ 3440×1440 for awhile until I finally upgraded a few months ago. I still use it as my 2nd PC! It's just running at 1080p now.

  13. my pc that I play many new games with it، it has intel 2500 cpu،
so linus your acer pc is not obsoleted

  14. Sata with A as in Apple. Data as with Day 😀 – It's never too late.

  15. This would make for an amazing home server

  16. Nice video.

  17. No defender, no restore point, no spectre/meltdown mitigation, no windows update? perfect for grandma but not for any general/professional user who might need that layer of security to keep things safe.

I'd definitely use it if there was an option to choose what to disable and what not to disable.

  18. I still have that acer model system unit and turn it to a gaming machine upgrade it to amd rx580 4gb video card, 16gb ram and 650 watts Seasonic psu and 500gb kingston ssd

  19. Considering I built my PC in 2008, I think I do need a new computer :[

  20. were you guys meming with the intel outro or was that a sponsored blip monkaHmm

  21. Fun fact, I had an m.2 slot on my z97-k board running a 4690k

  22. i5-7400 … and here im using i5-3570

  23. Man seriously declared Linux to be obsolete 💀💀💀💀

  24. Disabling windows defender permanently is impressive. Is there a DIY guide to do this?

  25. This video inspired makes me wanna try a 3-4 year old pre-built from 2019-20 like this. I've seen prices fall enough to actually be reasonable.

  26. I'm sorry but a 7400 is not even old. This is a fucking DDR4 system for christ sake. Windows 11 still runs at the speed of a click on sandy bridge i3s if you have it installed on an SSD. This video would have been a lot more interesting with like an athlon x2 system, that's what I would call the goldilocks zone of 'not old enough to be retro, not new enough to be modern'.

  27. Does Intel Core i5 13400F support DDR5 RAM with frequencies of 5200MHz or 6000MHz?

  28. 2/3 of video is out of topic

  29. Of course microsoft could just get their shit together and fix their os themselves too

  30. Make moree videos with old hardware!

  31. Can't wait for thousands of computers being thrown into the trash because of the artificial Windows 11 requirements once windows 10 looses support. Good thing windows 10 is still around

  32. I was personally using the i5-4690 + 960 4G + 12Gb of ram until 2 years ago where I decided to bite the bullet and go with a full system upgrade due to the hardware showing its age on more modern titles

seeing how decent the 7400 and 1660ti actually is…this system should at least last for another 2-3 years (or more if you don't plan on playing newer titles)

imo the feature cuts from AtlasOS doesn't really seem to be worth it

  33. I have a laptop with 64 gigs of ram

  34. I was just looking at AtlasOS the other day and you just make a video on it, what a coincidence

  35. Well…nice idea, gave it a try, managed to enable bluetooth and samba, but mouse is stuttering so hard it's unusable. So is the documentation and forum:) Otherwise it really feels faster, but I'm not gonna invest more time in a windows machine…

  36. Linus, my z97 had m.2 pci-e SSD slot… and it wasn't even one of the most expensive… it was a GA-Z97X-UD3H with a 4690k 🙂 With that said, love the video

  37. Great video. Also I have a question about this system. Can I play Forza Horizon 5 on Atlas OS?

  38. but I don't have an old pc

  39. I must've thrown away at lease five or six laptops over my lifetime, and I've never removed any parts, except for a couple of hard drives. Wish I'd kept them, and sold them on.

  40. where can i get those gtx usb drive?

  41. those compromises are a gigantic pain in the ass. i‘d rather upgrade my entire pc than using atlas os.

  42. plz bro help me i watch your every video im poor i dont have pc plz send me

  43. I remember building lite slipstreamed OS images for older machines 😅
That and being involved in development of alternative shells in Windows , showing my age now 😅

  44. If you didn't have external power, idk about us or Canada but you can get used a2000 for around 250 in the uk and they are fast for only 70w

  45. I kinda dig the rougher Aspire Vero look, I'm in market for a new laptop and will probably take it for a spin.

I want to support manufacturers doing something sensible for a change and Framework is not available in my country.

  46. Been doing this debloating and modding since Win XP. My list is very similar to what Atlas is doing. Good to see it readily available.

    It's sayta dayta

  47. This "old" PC is not so old by my standards. The "old" PCs I use is from 2006-2007 With Core 2 Quad 6600-9400 CPU and 4GB-8GB RAM. Questions is will ATLAS OS would help to make those faster? And what about not gaming, but more internet/movies/office purpose.

  48. That cpu heat sink gave me chills 🤢🤢
