Interesting video.
My brother made his own keyboard years ago. He had an algorithm analyse his emails of the last year and calculated the best keyboard layout specifically for him. Then he CNC and wire his own personal 3×10 key ortholinear keyboard.
Ooof that software is as terrifying as the keyboard is amazing. Granted I think something which actually senses the exact key configuration and position would be impossible, or even more expensive, but they could have still done a whole lot better.
Would be super cool if they allowed you to make your own modules such as a screen, knob, or whatever.
This is really cool
This is really unique!
If you take off all the key caps, good luck at putting them back together 😂
imagine this being a large enough mat where you can add MACROS, BUTTONS, KNOBSSSS, anywhere on ur desk 👀
Now where did my shift key go? 😂
I need to know where I can get that Hoodie!
@ZackFreedman
I build keyboards constantly and I find this absolutely interesting. Granted, it's not my cuppa, it's a fantastically interesting concept. I could really see this coming into play for those who play many video games and whatnot.
Don't know if I caught it, are the switches hot-swap?
Make a curved shaped pad. Layout the keys customized with your hands and finger layout. Instead of a company building ergonomics from a few designers, you build it to fit your own ergonomics. There is so much potential here. Especially from the accessibility reasons. I'm in.
This is amazing for people with various physical handicaps
gigantic hands, small hands, missing fingers, extra fingers, mobility issues and so on
awesome to see
and it looks cool as well
where do i get the white randomfrankp mousepad? can someone link it for me please, im from the UK
Wow
Wow I'm really considering grabbing a left hand unit for gaming. The right hand will be for the cat
I dont buy Chinese junk, like the crap Linus sells
hi frank
This is genius!
I'd still probably make it a mostly "normal" two hand and non orthogonal layout lol, but you can just move keys around so yeah can change for gaming/editing, maybe add a half keyboard as a macro board that's super customizable with physical buttons instead of dumb software
Biggest con for me would be 3 pole switches, I don't want to clip the legs off my switches just to use them in this. I did check their AE page and they have a mini and ergodox sizing too which is neat and you don't have to buy the full key set if you don't plan on using this as a keyboard replacement.
This is probably the most unique thing I've seen in the keyboard space in … forever
Don't Rage quit!!! 😆
For someone with big hands, who basically presses the bottom row with the tops of my fingernails. This is quite interesting.
Individual e-ink screens on each key was such a cool idea and I don't know why it didn't catch on
Literally a Samsung flip phone did it.
I would love to see some creative ways of using this that people come up with.
