  1. Is the color grading in this video on purpose?

  2. Waste of money paying for this. It is so easy to fix computer problems.

  3. I am 2 days late so I am sure this will go, relatively un seen. I am a tech for a major isp and these older/less than knowledgeable folks definitely need more help than I have real time for; considering i have 13 hours worth of work to do and i would like to see my wife and son. This should be the new (shoveling driveways) for kids! Helping folks out with their machines could net a decent profit for the kid and progress the knowledge at the same time! just a rant/thought but it feels like win win

  4. advanced system care by iobit, i stand by it

  5. I'm sorry if you live in Billings (0:27)

  6. more positive than i thought it would be but still kicking best buy while they are down. I went into best buy the other day and its looking rough i dont think they are gonna survive much longer

  7. iCue also runs Corsair peripherals like mice and headsets.

  8. Proud watcher from Edinboro, PA. A town outside of Millcreek, where that Best Buy in NW PA is.

  9. No way the grading is on purpose.

  10. Linus is not the demo. Him critisizing GS is hilarious. The demo for GS is people who have no options, no friends or no time to deal with it.

  11. Get the hell out of here with this "collab" ad stuff. I have zero resonance with a golfer and just makes your team feel like they have no idea who they are talking to.

  12. 6:40 – For what it's worth, I work in corporate IT and we sometimes use Ccleaners registry cleanup tool to resolve a number of issues caused by our messy (controlled by national) Windows image or various crap they push to PCs via SCCM which ends up breaking things later on, and it works wonders for that small subset of issues. I've never had it make a problem worse in any case.

  13. Quick we need this video now!
But boss the shapening and contrast haven't been calibrated yet.
I don't care Samuel! Get this on the air and make the kids do a pog!

  14. my wifes comp can beat yours anything up to half an hour at startup and the blue circle of death appears all the time she restarts at least twice a day have tried running the hp fix software and Norton util i get it working what looks like ok and 10 mins later its sulking again

  15. I definitely do not live within 15 minutes of one..and I'm in a top 20 city. Sure, if you live in the 'burbs, though, with a car.

  16. Some precincts will build a custom pc if you buy all the parts for the price of total tech. Id love to see your thoughts in that service

  17. — Never had an issue running registry cleaners. I like the Wise free product line for memory management (older laptops) Wise disk cleaner, and Wise registry cleaner. 'Storage' in windows system tools is useful. As is disk cleanup. Startup is easy as pie, and you can easily run through your services.msc for stuff you don't want running automatically. I religiously disable Sysmain and Print Spooler (don't do that if you have a printer). Then %temp% – temp – prefetch in Win-R and delete files. Setting your virtual memory to fixed size (64 gig system I have my VM off). Unchecking drive indexing. Just a few things that are easily done. There is a program called 'This is Win11' that's free which I like to remove bloatware and kill windows telemetry.
No one should need the geek squad. This stuff is stupid easy to do, and everything I mentioned is free forever. There's a lot more, adjusting windows appearance, yada, yada, before you get to overclocking and memory timings.
But for anyone that knows anything, I'm just preaching to the choir. These are simple fundamentals. Keep it cool, keep it clean, run it lean and trimmed and you'll do fine.
You want to start setting high benchmark scores, I could write a novel on that.

  18. Tiger Direct!

  19. I'm a former CA/ARA for Geek Squad and I'll tell you it's definitely going to be a mixed experience depending on your store. No qualifications are needed to work there at all, but you will get an Apple repair certification (for those who work on Apple repairs or check-ins). I've been building and working on computers for over 2 decades, so my approach to repairs was always different to less competent people. That said, I was always happy to teach other agents. The problem Geek Squad had, is a lack of people. Especially competent ones. Most competent agents are wildly underpaid and overworked. During COVID, I'd easily have 35-40 devices on my bench, be the ONLY technician in the back and have one single agent who worked the counter. Factor in that repair agents in the back ALSO have to answer the phone which rings non-stop all day long, managers keep dragging you out front to answer questions and help walk-ups it makes getting thorough work in a good time-frame really tricky. Those were my main reasons for leaving. I absolutely loved the job, with that aside. We had a solid team where we all gelled and worked well together and had a great rhythm. I can definitely say that a lot of us who work Geek Squad loathe the upselling and pitching, we're there to provide help – but Best Buy forces metrics down our throats. If metrics aren't met, we get 'conversations'. At my precinct, we did exit the scope of some approved tools and we utilized apps like Nanite quite frequently to speed up the process of set ups. Some of the testing and diagnostics we run include things like SSD/HDD SMART checks, Windows Memory Diagnostic, Short and Long drive tests, Prime95, Blender etc. Things of note I personally checked also included power supply (and brand/model of PSU), whether the drive used an SMR style HDD vs CMR HDD. SMR drives installed in budget laptops were a huge reason for slow downs – yet make up the majority of mainstream laptop HDD's. In those cases I often pushed for an SSD and clone the OS over. If anyone has questions, ask me anything!

  20. As someone who works for Bestbuy in the USA it’s interesting to see how Canada compares

  21. is the built in disk cleanup program good enough for removing temp files?

  22. I worked for best buy geek squad
They literally made me make a guy buy a new GPU because one of his cables was bad. Placed it in our tester PC and it booted an image no issue..but they are like no tell them its bad. So I literally fixed it and sent it back out for pick up.. I got fired the next day. Never will I ever go to best buy for anything anymore. Bull shit scamming people

  23. Linus is getting pretentious and trying to downplay the competition, I.E. iCUE comment

  24. Linus i was friends with the original guys that started geek Squad here in mn but it is very much crap now that best buy bought it it is very sad they did great before this happen cont me i have one of there usb i would like to give it to you

  25. They probably just downloaded some more RAM and overclocked the USB ports.

  26. I wrote my on batch file to do system clean, also has quick links to system parts of windows like program manager etc.why pay someone.

  27. bring it to staples next trust me

  28. Don't ever take your PC to Geek Squad!

  29. Disgustingly bad colour grading

  30. can we please get an updated video on transferring an OS and all other data from a hard drive to an SSD.

  31. eh, they use notepad++. Already better than I expected them to be

  32. Await The Signal! I was an agent in the UK for 2 years, you only get 4 days training and the rest you learn as you go, amazing community of people. Linus is right on this one the software on MRI was mostly out of date but still did the job and (we could only used approved software from GS) Windows tools are pretty good for basic clean ups without taking it to GS or local PC Nerd/Geek. I found educating "Clients" was always the best way and if they wanted regular visits then a subscription would be the best option financially etc…

  33. For $60 that's pretty good results honestly.

  34. Everything geek squad did can be done by an individual after reading a 5 minute wikipedia article or video…

You can clean each drive with built in windows programs, updates should install automatically.

Nothing they did for $79 was worth it.

  35. for registry i have Wise Care 365

  36. More betterrerrerrrerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  37. I feel called out

  38. Totally into keeping my computer free. You may turn off your computer one night and the next morning, it's hosed. Good video, Linus.

  39. O ya former bestbuy Geeksquad employee here and management definitely makes a huge difference on how the precinct runs and employe morale. They always complain about metrics and NPS and sell more total tech supports

  40. They have a tool called mri which I have a copy of if Linus tech tips wants to see what it’s about

  41. 1:23 "They didn't do segway to our sponsor."
Are You sure? Bestbuy afaik was at least once sponsor in LTT? So they could do segway to (former) sponsor :d.

  42. "more betterer" is nice… 😁

  43. Malwarebtyes, CCleaner, and CTT Windows 10/11 Toolbox.
