One thing is missing here is the mute microphone functionality, base on reading reviews and guides only Bose has the option to mute microphone during a call, which for me is a killer feature. Always surprised that almost nobody mentions this during comparison. Sony even in their xm5 doesn’t allow this – at least for me this was the decision factor for picking Bose. Will see how well it is implemented, currently I have Poly Voyager 8200 but they suck (sounds, comfort, battery and miserable ANC) these do have mute mic but only works via provided BT dongle, thus on phone you are out of luck.
Seems that APM doesn’t have mute mic as well and I really hate their looks and price (although I am iphone+mac user)

There is a 200€ headphones and they sound fantastic.
There is 500€ headphones and they sound even better than fantastic.
There is headphones for around 1000€ and with them you can hear the car alarm outside the studio during the recording session.
BUT DO WE REALLY NEED THEM ???

I am a professional musician with master degree and more than 25 years of experience in different professional opera-symphony orchestras ❕
So basically hearing IS MY thing !
It's MY job !
But if I and my colleagues are totally satisfied with headphones for around….okay, let's say 300€ and let me say something else,
I am a orchestra player, but some of my colleagues are even composers and conductors and we all still are totally satisfied with something like Sony XM4/5 or Bose 700 and etc.
So do YOU really need a pair of crazy high end headphones ?
I am talking ONLY about the sound quality !!!
Of course if ,,you" want go showing off or just the money are NO object for you, of course, buy what you want !
It's your money 😉
But if we talking ONLY about the sound quality and ,,you" need a pair of headphones for listening most of the time some rap ,,music" or some kind of lady gaga songs then every single pair of headphones between 150-300€ will do the job perfectly 👍

I was thinking about getting the Bose however I am swayed by the XM4 now as they are lighter, cheaper, have more advanced technology and I have heard really bad reviews about the integration on the Bose app, sorry but the Air Max don’t do it for me they look ridiculous however when I tried them at Best Buy the sound quality was amazing, in my opinion I think the Sonys win this for portability, price and general overall feel. There must be a reason why they were Which’s Best Buy. I think I will be coping some soon enough!

Xm4 is the worst among the 3. Because of the call quality sucks.
Another commercial reviewer … clearly loving Apple which essentially is Dr Dre headphones hehe .. Bose invented ANC and the 700 is best for ANC … sound seriously the Dr Dres 🤣 any how Sony is the best all rounder with the best app so you can adjust the sound to your liking

This is the only review I've found that ranked the AirPods Max as having the best noise-cancelling performance.
I just bought the Air Pod Max on sale. I got the blue and I fell in loved with it. I use it for my gaming PC, music, tv, and streaming. It didn’t disappoint me.

Wrong. You can get a Passaic cord for the air pod max. Remove this video because it's false miss leading information. FAILURE.
Oddly enough, the Air Pod Max on the Note 20 sounded the best/most natural of the bunch.
One area Sony needs to improve on the XM5 is definitely the mic quality.
Apple really is like most governments. Bad with your money, and knows what's best for you, so you don't need the freedom to do what you please. "Give us all your money, and we'll take care of the rest".

I don’t like the plastic design on the bose, the air pods look to bulky so I think Sonys design looks the best, the matte looks amazing I just don’t like the charging holes on the side 😭
I own all three. Bit of a nut I am afraid. You can’t go too far wrong with any of them. I have finally learned to pull down the Max and now like the fit. I also like the crown for volume, call and forward-back control. Simplicity of use on a headphone is best for me. Call quality important to me and I am still not sure which does the job best under all conditions. All are good. Max probably best if you took a bite of the Apple, you sinner. And the Apple case? Well, as with all apple products, you can find a third party case. It’s only money. Overall, Max wins and it is a toss up between the other two.
I know Apple is all about their build quality, but it doesn't make sense to have them all metal because they just weigh too much. They could have easily made a quality pair with more plastic that would still be great and ideally drop the price a bit. But you know… Apple tax.
