ahhh, memories. During the pandemic lockdowns, I was using a ryzen 3 2200g pc with an rx570 desktop. I played a lot back then but we had to move out and rent to another place. During the move out I found this almost same laptop except that it has 2gb ram, 14" screen, and an intel atom z3735f. It was really slow coming from my desktop but the great thing about it was its battery.
I was starting to learn linux and programming back then and when I set it up for programming on windows, it lasted a whole day without charging. I eventually installed debian on it. It was a complicated process as it had a 64bit cpu and a 32 bit uefi (insydeh20). But I got it working thanks to a gist I found on the net.
This beast taught me how to use RDP so I can stream from my desktop editing and programs, then SSH, and vim. I got rid of VS Code just because this laptop cannot run it well.
I'm now a professional programmer and this video makes me feel nostalgic. I'm now using a thinkpad to create awful memory-hogging programs 🙂
I wonder how well this would perform under Linux instead of Windows. For a traveller that just needs to document/browse the web, this could be a useful device
What is funny that this cheap Laptop has a better sRGB rating on their screen than the steam deck 79% vs 64% but that doesn't matter if the rest of the laptop isn't that great.

Here in Tunisia, I know a shop that sells the cheapest Laptop ever (It's used). It costs 150 TND aka 50 USD approx
It has Windows 8.1 64GB SSD, DDR3 2GB RAM, and a Electron CPU
Another Laptop with same cost has a Core 2 duo, 4GB RAM

the slowness in the beginning reminds me of my first computer (486 25Mhz IBM PS/2) which I think struggled with Win 3.1, never a good thing to remind me of. 🙂 I guess in the realm of budget computers, there are worse things than accidentally buying a chromebook!

IPS display with 78% of sRGB coverage is definitely better than some screens in ASUS and LENOVO laptops from 5 years ago (TN with <50% 🤮).
I actually got a AMD A4 laptop from 10 years ago, which smashes this 💩 into the ground in terms of performance.

Well just get the GeoGeo Book 140. Its around 190€ and I got one for my family for 149€ on sale at NBB.
Its actually a very legitimate laptop with a celeron N4020, 4GB RAM, 128 GB SSD and even a decent screen and trackpad. For office it is suited perfectly.
Need linux on that

I would like you to ask a big corporation to lend you one of their laptops that they give to their employees. The PC is going to be one of those ultra super duper laptops, but it will be slow as hell due to so much restrictions/spyware type of stuff installed on them. You want to use USB.. nop.. its blocked. You want to attach a USB scanner.. nope, that is blocked. You want to send your CV via that laptop.. you will get an email that where are you applying :). The CPUs might seem to be i7 or i5 but would seem to be slower than a celeron.
Seems like a good laptop for poor families with kids looking for a first computer.
The moment that Linus open up flash game Alex said you just gp grab some water and the segway to LTT bottle is just perfect.
But really I want to see it runs with an SSD since most cheap laptop doesn't even have m.2 slot.

it's not a laptop it's in the netbook category like Chromebook's, i'll just get me another GF63 think they have one with a 3060Ti that'll be my next laptop most likely unless i'm feeling crazy and get the new acer nitro 5 with the 4050 in it
