It’s been a long time coming, but after being moved into Linus’ new house we are finally making his ridiculous dream come true. We are watercooling a PC using his pool. That’s right, even the hottest components like the Intel Core i9-13900K or the RTX 4090 will be easily cooled by the sheer amount of water. But can we cool Linus’ hubris? Also, is this actually going to work?

  1. I feel proud that my viewership and purchase of a screwdriver has allowed Linus to own a pool

  2. We've tested some ChilledDoor racks in our DC and it might be a pretty ideal heat exchanger setup, but probably not easy (or cheap) to get.

  3. O!OO! I know what for you shoud use this server! You really should play SUPER MARIO! Not really saw a server in this rack, but DId any get the point?

23:59 Did I hear right? So that's actual pool water running through watercooling blocks and it's not a closed loop using a heat exchanger to transfer the heat to the pool water?

  4. 5 years from now, I'm sure LMG will have a plumbing subsidiary for all your water cooling and janky plumbing installations you need.

  5. interesting 🤔

  6. Separation of the different water systems would be a very good idea. Heat Exchangers are a thing.
Yes, it's more expensive. But it's the technically correct way of doing it.

  7. 100% the big pvc pipes that goes underground aren't going to last for long

  8. I wonder what happened to that rock in the loop >.>

4 videos is the bar exam for any YouTube expert.

  9. W-what are you doing step ladder!?

  10. I highly recommend a moisture sensor/alarm on the lowest part of your floor so when this leaks, you have a chance to fix it before a small mess becomes huge.

  11. i am already taking my pinches of salt from what LTT has been putting out on YT this days…

  12. what happens if the pool gets to 90+ degrees, do the lines still stay cooler than the water? our pool gets warm mid summer especially using a solar cover

  13. I wonder where Linus got the idea for a Floatplane ad… Nebula

  14. in the words of Jake "So stupid" 🤣

  15. 26:10 the biggest LTX whale reveal

  16. you realy forgot the pump ?…

  17. also thx for the math, this is so awesome and the highlight of this video! more of such things would be great!!!!

  18. The lack of primer on the PVC has me screaming

  19. I know Linus isn't going to sell his house any time soon, but I'd love to see a random realtor try to explain what they did and why.

  20. it would be so lovely, to have a big pools at every major serverfarm..

  21. The videos coming out of LTT recently are so bad!!!

  22. So a piping full of unknown alien bacterial infested residue is pumped into the swimmingpool, on a varm sommers day, with kids hopping around in it?

  23. I personally haven't liked the super jank stuff in videos, seeing a proper job is so satisfying but that's just my opinion 😭

  24. you guys are so good at failing plumbing!

  25. I agree with Jake and disagree with Alex, exchanger would be better than a filter. Not only do you get a degree of separation on water quality, not only would you see a similar impedance between both depending on your amount of filtering, but the important part is that you not only fully isolate the computer side from the entire loop as a whole but you can also manage the mismatch in pressure and flow-rate, given that the computer side wants lower pressure due to fitting requirements but you can also run the pool side at the higher pressure and higher flow that its pump will generate. Long term, it's the much smarter idea, and personally I would either mount this exchanger at the basement of the rack or on the wall behind the rack. A water-based exchanger would make the most sense, and given the LMG flavor of DIY I wouldn't be surprised if a submersible would be the best option, a loop-radiator-small body of water-radiator-loop arrangement, small (computer) loop dumps into the intermediate body, large loop (pool) absorbs from the intermediate body; especially with the complexity of a water-water system unless you can (though I probably wouldn't advise it) borrow a water-based oil cooler from a vehicle as I know Nissan uses these throughout a variety of vehicles though I'm not sure of temperature throughput of these coolers, and proper ones would be from at least the industrial segment for what you're wanting to do as the commercial segment would be so much more limited in availability, which also means it's an expensive piece of kit.

  26. Awesome.

  27. I 100% agree with jake… so stupid with no heat exchanger…

  28. This set up is just so cringe at every step.

  29. His calculations missed sun heat

  30. I really dislike the filter over the heat exchanger… Like you already noticed dirty water in the pipes, and even rocks. Thinking of the all room watercioling getting dirty.

The heatexchanger allows a clean and dirty side that atleast keeps the blocks of the System clean
