18:30 After all the shit that MS has pulled over the years I've finally had enough. A few days ago I installed Pop after seeing Anthony's video "Install Linux instead of Windows 11 – Here's how!". Never used Linux before, but so far it's a breeze. Any software that's in the 'pop shop' can be installed with one click. Updating is also one click. This includes Discord btw.
This video brought to you by Sennheiser
If savage jerky were so good you wouldn’t miss it and only get it when it’s free lol, good sales try but if you really like it then you’d just get it my dude
"We'll probably be able to figure out how to install steam."
Aged like milk.
oh thats hilarious I have keys to a few friends homes and I am so doing that
LINUS WHERE'S THE LINUX VIDEOOOOO
Broken packages in gnu/linux sux … tho pacman does really well to manage or mitigate
I personally prefer Qubes OS, with everyday use on an Arch Linux flavor (like BBQ Linux for Android dev), so I would say Manjaro (an Arch Linux derivative) would be my vote
Hahaha "you're not MAMEd or anything" 🤣😆
VBS is just rebranding what Qubes OS (Xen hypervisor framework w/ kvm + qemu support) already does … with Qubes, though, one can set passthroughs of any HW bus to its VMs – reducing latency from translations. How will M$ implement this tho ? 🤔
HW OEM should make drivers work on EFI layer, and just use an abstraction layer driver on specific OS to call them; that way they can be signed & work independently from OS, reduce bloat, work with VMs, etc ..
Windows 11 comes at the worst possible time for Intel, as the new ARM-powered M1 Pro Macs are become more competitive in graphics as well as CPU performance.
THE best way to avoid malware: use anything other than Windows! Central Registry = DOOM!!! How are they still in business? Seriously?
VBS will not cause computer slowdowns, probems with system integrity, or other problems.
All of my systems use the Windows 10 VBS, and has not caused performance issues in most, if not all, applications, including gaming.
The performance reduction is just a problem with Windows 11, and it must be fixed in the operating system.
ive had one virus , in a decade, get past a linux vm, into the windows host
i went thru this recently, i have been using linux for many years, but not as my daily driver 100% workstation, now i am, i wont spoil the fun, i started with Manjaro, went to POP ended up somewhere else for a whole list of reasons to do with my workflow NOT Linux per se.
James is wrong make a series
@21:57 "No, we're not running Fedora. Like, c'mon guys. Put real, real serious suggestions." <– What's with the snarky face? Why is Linus so disgusted with Fedora?
Ok won't be upgrading none of my pc's will run win 11 anyway
Daily driving linux, leggo!
Why not do a brief video afterwards summing up what you talked about? I just can't pay attention for that long personally
I’m going to have to learn all the flavors of Linux and use Steam. Microsoft and Apple ultimately are hurting themselves. What we truly need is open source software besides open source software. Also I’m not thrilled with Fedora because it’s associated with Red Hat. I stick to Debian and Arch based systems.
Linux Text Tics.
Welcome to the WIDE AREA NETWORK!!!!!!!!! D:<
I knew they would get worse they are making too much money to fix it right away
No VBA does not make sense. The Intel architecture already has 3 rings in it that OS's don't use. Using VBS means they are using ring -1 (hypervisor), ring 0 (kernel), and ring 3 (user space).
Security is found in using rings 1 and 2 and a micro-kernel. QNX 4 is an example.
Busting into VBS can be done using any of the Metldown or Spectre flaws or similar undisclosed ones.
God damnit! If I wanted that kind of security I'd use CubesOS.
"If it's jif, it's jraphics" – said while looking at a GeForce logo
I used Gentoo for my daily when I worked as PC tech for the local university. It was a great place for it because, at any given time, they had hundreds of PCs sitting around doing nothing and we had software setup which allowed us to reboot entire rooms of PCs and they were all setup to load a deep freeze image. That allowed me to replace the image and reboot an entire room of Windows PCs with my Gentoo image instead. Doing that allowed me to swarm build my packages in a fraction of the time using an entire room of PCs. This was back when dual core was common so adding 100 or so extra cores made a big difference for the compile stage. Linking still took forever.
This is old now but dang no OpenSUSE on there? :-/
Does someone know an effective way to solve overheating issue Nvidia GPU on Linux? This would define my next main OS.
You have to tattoo the windows logo on your chest for losing.
Windows phone 10 update?
I installed Gentoo on my new PC, just to see if I could do it, and I couldn't really do it. I got most everything going, but then I realized I'm not hardcore enough for Gentoo.
I Really like current Fedora, it's using Gnome 40 and it's nice IMO. Love it on my laptop, but I don't love that it's as unfriendly as it is to NVIDIA. I am going PopOS on my new PC I just built.
Steam gets worse every update, just like Discord.
And there's nothing we can do to stop it.
hmm, savage jerky got you hooked like the pawlowsch's dog
If the Linux challenge becomes untenable then a Mac OS challenge might be an option.
Suposedly win 11 will have a subscription fee???
if you cant say cringe because the word evokes the meaning behind the word wouldnt it be more accurate to use it?
so what ur saying is that were in a VM right now irl
Windows tanking performance by increasing security? If I wanted high security by sacrificing gaming performance I would chose a mac. I won't be upgrading to Win11 until people figure out how to remove that security.
Do your homework. This huge performance hit from Windows 11 has been debunked. I've been running it for several days without issue myself.
You may be funny to watch as you try to do things and you may show us some really interesting stuff at times but for f%^&'s sake man you're absolutely boring to listen to for over an hour. I still gave you a thumbs up thought simply out of habit. I won't be watching two guys in headphones rave about shit for an hour that's for sure.
Around Mint 15 was it – they did a beautiful inside Windows Install. Where is wsl Mint
Can I go back to windows 7 now?
