Lightning was cool. But it should have been replaced with usb-c since iphone X or Xs.
You can already double tap on your Apple Watch. You just have to enable it and accessibility. You go to settings, and then accessibility then you scroll down and you turn on quick gestures. That will do everything that that double tap does.
Yall being too nice. Wireless charging its common to do at 15w, but apple is still 20w even the most expensive phone? Yall need another week break. Go back to the drawing board

I have an apple and a samsung phone. I would never use my own money to buy an iphone. I can hold on to a samsung for years and it still performs nearly as well as day one, including battery. All of my iphones have lost their "snap" within 18 months, and that pains me to no end.

"Problem they created". While really wish Apple was pushing USB 3.0 with the switch to USB C, the lightning connector needs credit where its due for pushing a reversible connector type. While it might not have been first with the idea (both being released about 2012) it was the first to market full scale.

Not to be a hater or anything but I don't want to play resident evil village on a 6.something inch screen.
Also, why pay $1200 for playing a few select titles on an iphone instead of building/buying a $1200 pc for the same purpose.
(Obviously my comment is wrt gaming and not all the other things the iphone provides. I also realise that this probably means that the M3 chips are gonna be WICKED with ray tracing and awesome gpu performance)
Looking at how stingy Apple is, i doubt the RE8 footage they show is actually played on the iphone 15 pro max. I think its likely that the footage was recorded on a high-end pc.

I'm honestly surprised Apple didn't completely abandon having a port entirely in favor of just being 100% portless to force you to buy a (preferably Apple branded) wireless charging station and replacements for anything that you would require a dongle to connect with.

When Linus said "or dimmer for that matter" at 9:29 my phone gave me the 5% warning and dimmed the screen, at first I was like "wow, what immersive editing" until I realized.
Nothing to do with the content just thought it was funny.
I hope it having the DP Alt Mode forces Android manufacturers to make it a much more standard feature.

I actually like the cable, usb is only better becuase it’s universal, but cable for cable, the apple cable has much more grip due to the two indents, and lighting doesn’t have a middle pin that can break, I’ve had serval usb C ports breaks
Of my complaints about the iPhone, the Lightning cable probably isnt even in the top 10…. Speaking as an iPhone user since the 5 (or 5S?) anyway. Sure it's a nice thing to have, but there are plenty of other things I'd rather change – mostly software related…
Ok so my thoughts where if they where holding out with lightning, they may have had extra usbc compatible usb 2.0 chips and a lot of them and would have made a bad financial decision not to use them

I have the 14 Pro Max and the new 15 Pro Max doesn’t wow me enough to switch. A faster processor, better camera, and USB C doesn’t affect me for the better. I want to see the mini LED screen from the iPad finally make it to the iPhone.

IMO lightning is a wayyy nicer connector to plug in to the phone than C, never really understood the hubub will be kinda sad to lose lightning
I am typing this on my Samsung phone that is now difficult to reliably charge. I'm against mandating a port as difficult to clean as USB-C I never used iPhone long enough to need to clean the port, not a fan of the UI, but a tongueless plug like lightning is just better for end user durability. I've not really ised one, but I've never seen one broken.
Good job apple, it only took 12 years, a law treating to ban you from Europe and millions of possible lawsuits to almost fix a problem

I know you're trying to put a positive spin on the USB 2.0 charging and transfer speed…but something no one seems to have caught up to is this. Every year Apple puts last years flagship chip into the next non pro version. The new chip is the A17 "Pro". I'd bet money that next year when they release the new iPhone line the iPhone 16 will have an A17 non-"Pro" chip with USB 2.0 transfer speeds for no reason other than they know customers will still buy it.
I disagree lightening is so much more "solid" than USB C, and easy to keep clean, you tried cleaning USB C slot? won't get as clean as a lightning port!

The lightning cable really never bothered me. It was basically USB-C about 10 years ahead of its time.
As a change from the 30pin and an alternative to all the mini/microusb chargers at the time it was an absolute game changer to not have to fuck about with which way round it should go.
Not to say that usb c isn’t a good thing – it is fantastic, but I never really understood the vitriol towards lightning.

Lightning was created when micro usb was the standard, funny how everyone has forgotten how horrendous USB was in the early 2010s.
If Linus says it's a good phone, then imma upgrade. Only review I trust.
