Damn so neat.
This is perfect seening before I get to hookup a gaming pc and a business laptop. Thanks Guys!
Who's gonna tell Linus that "Merch" stands for "Merchandise", meaning something we wear. I don't see wearing KVM anytime soon !
Isn't that just a KVM switch?
tl;dw it is expensive because it is almost in the level of handmade if not worse, plus the demand isn't exactly that high.
About time someone reviewed that KVM! It's about the only decent KVM on the market that's usable in an ordinary desktop environment.
I think there's an important distinction between a YouTuber deciding to make (aka someone else make) and sell merch, and a tech business making and selling tech products but also having a YouTube channel. tbh it's pretty disingenuous to us and offensive to Wendell to call his products "YouTuber merch"
Yhe quality of your videos last couple weeks is supreme guyz.. great to see you are going strong after few setbacks 🙂
Speaking of selling stuff. Can we please have the ratchet of the screwdriver as a fidget toy?
The sound and feel of the clicks are sooo satisfying.
My ADHD brain needs this in it‘s life🥹
What about optic repeaters for this so we can put our pc in another room?
Wendell is one of those unsung heroes making sure that we can have cool, ever better toys – oeps, sorry – tech
I love "Wendel content"! 😀
Funny to see the problem with the Samsung screen. I have the G7 and up to this day, it is not able to automatically switch between inputs, a basic feature every other screen has, and would be really needed in a work from home scenario… Theoretically it should do it, it just does not work. Not to speak of the buggy HDR detection, which switches HDR on and off during HDR content seemingly at will every few minutes.
The problems are known on the Samsung forums … or rather they where until they just closed the thread and told everyone to handle this trough their app which means no update or fix on that at all. … I can surely say that this was my last Samsung monitor I bought, since it angers me daily!
I recently bought a kvm for this exact same thing but did not work with fiber optic hdmi 🤷🏻♂️
flip it around and slam it into the desk a little more why don't ya dude
Question – if you run your sound out of a USB audio interface, would you just plug it into that peripheral USB port on it?
I need my 1/4inch and XLR inputs…
(Just for playback; I don't expect to be able to record at low latency with such a setup).
If you're that excited about KVMs Gigabyte's M27Q would probably be exciting for you even if it wouldn't be exciting enough for a whole video.
I have 2 connected to a gaming PC and Laptop depending on who is playing the displays and peripherals adjust to either both work with one (one person) or each work with their respective main system (two people gaming at the same time)
I'd love to see one of these that can convert DisplayPort to VGA, with a proper 400mhz RAMDAC.
Anyone else really impressed by those tracked/stabilized boxes around the different groups of ports? Small thing, but really neat.
Are KVM's a thing again now? 🙂 I used to use those in the 90's in the server room when I first started in IT.
I enjoyed all the information here so much, thanks.
Would it make sense to have a mechanical switch and ditch the electronics, essentially plugging and unplugging the devices? Not as good, but dirt-cheap.
Legend!
HEUREKA!!!
In Wendell we trust.
There are ways to work around a kvm swith. Most monitors automatically switch between input devices and simple usb switches are very cheap. This works great if you are only using one PC at a time. If you are using multiple PCs at the same time a remote desktop app will do the trick for most use cases. Only tasks that are very latency sensitive on the remote machine will be a problem.
I feel like if you can afford 4 computers, you can afford this KVM.
"That's so cool!!!"
Dude, KVM switches did that 20 years ago. Switching with a hotkey is a normal KVM feature.
It's a cool KVM switch, but it's not extremely special or anything.
honestly it needs a better, catchier name. like K-Vendell-M or something.
Bit confused over the Webcam comment. I've had 2 different webcams (Logitech C920, Razer Kiyo) both connected via 2 different hubs (Dell D6000, CalDigit TS4) to a Windows/Linux Desktop and 2 different MacBooks and have never had any issues whatsoever.
Great Video! Why can't a switch just physically switch between the devices though? My best guess is signal integrity, but there has to be a way to make a good connection.
Sabrent has the best kvm switches
Thunderbolt 4 crazy stuff
USB switch with a good LCD with multiple inputs works just as well.
I didn't power up my "gaming" PC for two years now just because I got tired of switching monitors and peripheral between it and working laptop. Honestly, regretting not knowing that such things exist
Damn!!!! We've come a long way kvm!!! I want one!!
This was a great video. I really love it when enthusiasts make a difference by going out and making the industry better. because even if this is a small time expensive solution. It takes the exuses away from the manufacturers who havent put in the effort.
If this thing supports two monitors and 4 PCs is it possible to say monitor A gets input from PC X while monitor B gets input from PC Y?
Insert South Park Butters meme where he says "This is an ad!"
its been a while since ive seen level one techs videos and damn Wendell has gotten into shape. Good for him.
Love the video but I have one criticism with the edit. I think there is a mistake at 14:28. I searched for the video on YouTube expecting it to be a video by LTT but as it turns out it's actually Wendell's(Level1Techs'). Or is that how LTT references other creator's video?
Wendel and the whole Level1Techs crew rock! The Level1Techs Show is one of my favorite things to watch on YT!
