The PlayStation Portal Remote Player is a fantastic accessory for the PlayStation 5 but is definitely not for everyone.

Is it possible to switch on the ps5 remotly ? (I mean switch on from zero.. not on sleep mode)
Flop w this BS remote nonsense. PS had One job….one job. 😖
I would've rather if they gave us a phone dedicated controller in all honesty. IF this had direct connection to Playstation's cloud service I could see its existence being justified.
WAIT WAIT WAIT ……
Somebody HAS TO EXPLAIN why this has an Airplane mode!
It's NOT Sony's next Handheld gaming device, nothing to do with things like a Gameboy or a PSP
It's a second screen, nothing more
This thing will be great to get to play Diablo VI on.
But does it perform better than using Remote Play on a PC, phone or tablet? Because I’ve tried remote play on those devices and it’s bad graphics quality and really bad connection too…and I have super fast internet. So if this device is still the same crappy connection/performance then it’s a complete waste of money.
You are missing a big point. Which is that it cannot connect to a lot of public wifi's due to those requiring you to accept their terms on a browser page, this is because it has no browser.
Many will think "who cares, as if I'm going to be playing on my device at a restaurant", but this is almost always the case in hotels as well, meaning if you are either on vacation or travel a lot for work, it's absolutely useless.
I get some of the choices to keep the price down, but this is a choice I cannot understand.
The appropriate cash grab would have been to give this thing cell service to maintain portability instead of taking away bluetooth
Just to clarify, this would work if my son wanted to use it at his grandmother's house while we're at work? If he connected to their wifi, and the ps5 is connected to the wifi at home, it will find it? May be a stupid question but just confirming before I buy it tomorrow lol.
This is what so many thought the Wii U was.
The battery life looks promising
and to think Xbox had RemotePlay for so long where any phone/tablet and controller can do the same thing this 'Portal' does, yet it wasn't given enough notice by the "Ps5-obssessed" game reviewers.
They just reinvented the Wii U
I am going to get two of them 🎮
One of the pointless handheld ever
Seems like this came out too late. The issues it resolves are the same issues the PS4 had and a simple tablet setup works
I’m not a ‘hater’ but I hate the idea of this device and Sonys business model.
Shame… shame… shame… shame…
Lmao! This is a waste of money. Having a handheld that you can't play outside of the house is a joke. Thank you for your sacrifice, but i'll pass.
just buy a bloody tv for that price
Dumb question probably but can you turn your PS5 both On and Off through the Portal?
Buy a Steam Deck OLED, itll actually be supported unlike Sonys past devices.
So it does not handle streaming any better than a phone
Is it really 60fps? Because your video runs at 30fps.
Basically useless until pro comes
airplane mode ????
In summary, a glorified NON-OLED portable monitor with controllers stucked to it. Please make your purchases wisely people.
While I don't use my headsets wirelessly, I do plan to buy a 1Mii ML300 3.5mm to Bluetooth transmitter to try on my PlayStation Portal. Nick Guy at NYTimes was seeing sub 30ms audio latency with Bluetooth devices that support aptX Low Latency codecs (which should be about any reasonable quality headset or earbud). If only it were the last time I had to hear a reviewer say "You HAVE to buy a new (Sony) headset to use with the portal." as if the 3.5mm plug didn't exist or there weren't other solutions.
Switch light sales are about to plummet
I already bought a case, screen protectors and a carrying case too. They were made even before the system came out.
Why would this have an airplane mode when it is useless without the internet?
At first I wasn’t even thinking about out getting one since I use my Dualsense to remote play on my tablet. Eventually it grew on me especially since it’s just simpler to lay in bed and hold it 🤣
Not gonna buy this BS, if you didn’t need to link it to a ps5 I would buy it but unfortunately
Does it play Crash Team Rumble
