For your question about asus boards, i got some dominator titanium 24×2 7200mt/s they said wouldnt be compatible with xmp (i had to down it by 200mt/s but it all in all is ok) i do like to overclock so its annoying not to be able to achive box listed boost and from the testing i believe its the z790-e ive been using (i assume they havent released a bios with a patch)(from fourms and personal experience its difficult to achieve 7000mt/s stable boost 6800+ have been unstable from word of mouth)

Amazon's search function ABSOLUTELY SUCKS!! No matter how EXACTLY specific you are, they will feed you what they want to feed you and IT IS UP TO YOU to sort through the FUSTER CLUCK of "search results" for, oh I don't know, at least an hour, before finally finding what you're actually looking for AND THEN the best way to find the best price is to scroll down to the other items on the page, click on those, scroll down to other items, click on them, etc. etc. etc…
Amazon is great, but their "search" is set up SOLELY for them to make the maximum profit possible!!

As far as the comments on DirectStorage not making a difference between gen3 and gen4 drives, it does, there's just only a handful of games that support it at this point.
Case and point, there's a file in R&C:Rift Apart that if you delete, allows drives that are fast enough to run at the speed of the PS5 to match it's load times; it's slightly slower by default due to the easy it was configured to accommodate drives that aren't necessarily up to that kind of bandwidth. That said, I haven't tested this personally, so it's more hearsay than guaranteed.
Regardless, there's only a handful of games that support it at all, so at this point I wouldn't consider that super relevant at the moment; it'll be a while before it matters.
That said, hopefully we see parity for it on Linux soon, if it isn't there already; I'm moving to that shortly (just waiting for KDE Plasma 6), and I'd love for that to gather up the last bits of gaming tech that it's missing.

Hot Take: Motherboard prices aren't that bad. Now, there is a problem with features that used to be included in the $100-200 price point and that definitely should be called out. But if all you want is system that can game, no frills, you can do that for well under $200 bucks.
I mean, you're not overclocking, but if you're counting your pennies, you probably don't care about overclocking. In this economy, if you're struggling for cash you should just be happy to get a motherboard that runs your CPU, GPU, RAM and storage at all.
