Not entirely sure what mic you're using so I could be wrong but most condenser mics "I assume that is one" are forward facing and you're using it like a dynamic mic which are the ones you typically speak into from the top. Facing with them is important for quality, even if it seems to be picking up your speech fine.

I bought those electric handwarmers last winter when I believe you mentioned them in a video.
For me, they made my hands tingle. I guess they generate some pretty strong EMFs. Similar to heated blankets but even warmer and more concentrated, I can't imagine they're going to be great for your health.
