Who wants an android device where they are literally telling you what to watch with proprietary buttons on the remote ! With a little basic knowledge, these Chinese "malware" boxes can be cleaned out and loaded with whatever you want. You get what you pay for ….. but if you are a plug and player … the Chromecast or Firestick is made for you.
I don't use my TV because I haven't changed it in 15 years 😂(For comparison, I'm 18)
Firestick has lasted me since 2019 and I am still using it! Though it is definitely laggy (however, I am using the usb power off the TV itself)
Well, I do not have much choice here. We only have the Chromecast and the Fire Tv Stick here, everything else I would need to import. So it is great to know those to are good to use.
A few years ago the FireTV was pretty good but now and especially with their FW update a few weeks ago ( as you pointed out at 17:55) they are pushing more and more ads at you and forcing you to watch some and taking control back from you. I am personally done with FireTV.
Can someone ELI5 me why do I need this box at all? TV comes with an OS already with features from this box and by connecting tv to modem via ethernet cable I can just open files from shared folder on my PC.

Bought a Raspberry Pi 4 a while ago, best decision ever if it's about multimedia devices. Installed LibreElec with Kodi, it just does the job, has support for external USB devices, Samba shares and much more. Works flawless.

Patchwall is Xiaomi's custom launcher on the top Google Android which shows suggested content and live channels. And it sucked, I had a Mi TV for couple of years and I always preferred Stock Android launcher over patchwall.
Internet apps on TVs are garbage. In the AV industry it's refused to even let customers do this. They usually work perfect for a few months and then once the cache starts building, they lockuo. Surprised no Roku listed on this video

Roku? £15 to £30 for 4k stick that works with all devices and a voice activated remote . Imo it's a solid buy, plus the remote can control your TV and they have a phone app for iOS and android

Mecool kd2 is better than kd3 for whatever reason. Cheaper, more memory, a full sized USB A, more storage. Idk what happened with kd3 or how that makes any sense. It's kind of like Samsung going from a52 to a53.

I bought an Nvidia Shield TV in 2017 and it's still as fast as the day I bought it. It's $200 but worth it.

Really should have compared these to the Shield, still the undisputed champ imo. I am still running an OG one and it runs like a dream.
