You can get a Peltier cooler here for pretty cheap:
Side note: KipKay used this method to charge a cell phone, check it out here:
What kinds of devices would you power with this? Let us know in the comments!
Sir iwant candle ๐ฏ๏ธ attract too object
Ok that's kinda cool but it's not "FREE!". You still have to buy the candle. Charging a phone with this is going to take a while.
Still pretty cool though.
so why dont the cpu heat sink generate electricity for the heat sink fan lol
What does the big heat sink do?
Cool wind from heat
Awesome๐๐๐
How much heat can the peltier element withstand tho? I got one and basically I'm ready to build this fan
clever idea for the summer and for the winter to put it on the wood stove
can you give the viewers a thermal proof that the top gets cold? Because this is one of my must-build projects for my own personal use and I would like for it to be an air cooler
If you could put that in a protective casing and take it when you go camping, you might use the fire to recharge your smartphone.
No need for a heat sink on the hot side. I draws away and wastes the candle's energy.
aren't you creating more heat than cool air?
WAIT FOR IT…….WAIT FOR IT……AND WE HAVE AN ADVERTISEMENT FOR HULU
0:15 you can also do this with your old desktop pc processor ๐
How long will the peltier unit last until it "burns" out? I'm sorry I couldn't resist. Do you have a time frame though?
the rotation direction should be reversed for better airflow
Isn't using a candle (which produces heat) to power something used to cool you off, counterproductive
I read candy powered fan dang it ;-;
Excuse me, but can I kindly use this for our Investigatory Project? I'll promise to mention you guys! :'(
O the irony using fire to cool off
Great video and im subscribed. Its an interesting concept but I would like to add a bit here. First, the energy isnt free, its merely converted from the fuel of the candle wax, through heat and electricity, which power the motor into a final product of kinetic, heat and sound energy. Not the most efficient but it seems it does drive the motor well. However, it seems less useful in that it is sucking in hot air from the heatsink out. Basically transfering hot air, which makes limited use for cooling. But for transfering heat around during say winter, it may be an interesting concept. Worth trying during winter isnt it?
Just think, a huge Peltier panel to power a (very small) car, just off of a fire. Or make a mini model car spin off of one of these.
where do u buy it?
Fan-tastic!
A Stirling engine works just as well with the same effect, but I guess this is slightly more simple?
can it heat or cool a small room? plz answer
Peltier chips do not produce electricity from heat alone. They create electrical charge from temperature differences between the sides. When the cooler side warms up you will find your voltage output will drop.
stirling engine fan same concept and really quiet ย
Or you can just buy a fan
That's a thermocouple right?
What kind of motor is that
Use a burner powers from the electricity = unlimited power
