Can Optoma’s UHD30 stand in for a gaming monitor? Does 240hz refresh rate look good on a big screen? With HDR 10, 4k and a screen that can be as big as your wall, is it worth it to check out projectors again?

Comments

  1. I picked up a UHD35stx just before Christmas, and while it's not perfect (for many of the same reasons Linus noted), it's a pretty great experience. And since it's a short (but not ultra short) throw model, I can put it on a coffee table in front of me. (It's virtually the only projector in that throw range, which is why I got it.) Mounted like that, and in a dark room, it's awesome, even if it's not for everyone. (It also does 240Hz, but I don't have a powerful enough gaming PC to properly test that. :/)

  2. OPTOMA projector.Does anyone have experience with the best by setting the colors on the UHD38 projector, or similar on the PS5? I have it perfect for movies, there are a lot of settings for games and I am not able to adjust it 😞

  3. I wouldn't buy something with this many compromises for that price. if I'm spending that kind of money I'm not going to want something with that many omitted features.

  4. Replacment dmd chips $450 usd with 6 weeks warranty form optoma. Better get benq better warranty and product.

  5. Can you use it with xbox

  6. This projector gets the job done pretty well. https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good. The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.

  7. Digital keystone adjustment lowers the resolution. I'd rather never use it!

  8. Or you just mount it correctly then you don't need to use keystone in any circumstance

  9. Since when did get Linus get THIS hot?

  10. 4k is ass because of the lack of RGB and imposed 4 2 0 format

  11. Package in cardboard and eggs crates from a cardboard paper is not nice…….
10 years ago it was nice printed package with free good backpack for gaming projector from Optoma. What a shame package…

  12. Watching this on an OLED screen, the blacks don't look black at all to me. Maybe you should try it in the dark?

  13. Just got hd28i very impressed for the money

  14. Spinning wheel ? That's ancient tv tech

  15. JFC! Who does a projector review on a big old piece of paper and goes "Yeah, nah. That's good enough to tell image quality." ?!

  16. i did notice a lot of rainbow effect 😀 maybe it's not that bad in person but in the video it was pretty bad

  17. DLP projectors advertised brightness and contrast specs are ALWAYS a lie.
The reason for this is their competitors specialising on the brightness and contrast.
If DLP projectors manufacturers advertised readl numbers – noone would even consider buying one of those.

And because projectors are all about big picture – they rely heavily on the brightness.

The only thing that is on the side of DLP projectors is price – they are cheap. 4K models are the cheapest on the market.

  18. You're such a schlub for telling the viewers about things you didn't test….

  19. Just use and HDMI cord you this is just incompetence

  20. Bhaiya Review benq w1800i

  21. absolute joke. Not being able to adjust the keystone in enhanced game mode is a deal breaker. Glad i saw this cause i would have to mount this. what a piece of shit.

  22. if this is anything like my current optoma projector which does the same thing… You need to fix the keystone BEFORE enabling gaming mode. It should lock that aspect ration into place but will disable any adjustability of keystone until you again disable gaming mode.

  23. Did Linus just have dental work done before this? Seems a little different.

  24. Optoma uses a spinning color wheel from a motor spinning at 7200 rpm . This the weak point of there projectors . This model has a lot of short comings . I've owned Optoma projectors in the past. I find Epson L.C.D projectors create a better picture . Gaming on projectors also depends on the source controller . which does make a difference ( play station 5 best.) others so so . THIS was a very informative video.

  25. Hi Linus! Do you prefer 3LCD or DLP projector? I am confused between Epson 3 LCD vs Optoma DLP projector?

  26. G'day, love this channel but i was wondering if anyone out there could please help? I am disabled homebound and the only communication i have with family and mates is online. I've spent the last year building a pc but i just can't get the last part a socket 12 cpu. I have spent everything i had on building this, even sacrificing the case with a Thermaltake Versa 26T insted of the Phantek Emphoo i wanted. So please can anyone help out with socket 12 cpu, you would make a sick old man very happy

  27. XGIMI Aura has 5 image modes, crystal-clear 4k picture and bright 2400 ANSI lumens. This ultra short throw laser projector provides an immersive cinematic experience.

  28. Have you seen the specs on the BenQ TK700STI 😳 4k HDR 120fps very low input lag 16ms and lower from a projector. just picked it up for my 120" screen. Can't wait to hook up a PS5 to this projector. Would love to see a video from you and your crew. On the best settings to get the most out of a PS5 and the projector.

  29. What port does the 240ghz refresh rate & how did you get it to work? I can only get it to do 60ghz refres. Plz help

  30. I am into the projector gaming. I love the big immersive screen. I got a tight budget, so I use the Vankyo V630W. It works for me. Not 4K, but I can live with it.

  31. In 2022 i recommend you Optoma UHD35.
That's the same Projector but much better and it has 4.20ms Input Lag.

  32. Benq or nothing…..

  33. I respect what you're doing but if you are gonna review this product you should have had the correct screen your self. Paper is absolutely the worst substitute.

  34. excellent video.

between the Optoma UHD38 and the Epson EH-TW700, which one would you choose?

  35. Since you're on projectors, do you know of the guy who does these crystalHD4k paint screens (or whatever name he goes by these days)? It's like the dude can do 'perfect' black screens with no quality loss, but I've been up in the air on that and I'd like to see someone cover the topic.

It's a little outside computer tech, but here i know it's relevant.

  36. Looks cool
