New cars are expensive, and while some of the features they offer are nice to have like Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Assist, just about everyone wants Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Why not save some money and make an upgrade instead of trading in if everything else works fine?

Plouffe a fellow S10 5g user nice
anyone else got tricked by just looking at the thumbnail for a brief moment and that it was a mr beast video from the colors of the shirt and style of thumbnail or is it just me ?
My 28 year old Clio tech makeover consists of some chinese single din radio with Bluetooth, maybe a jack cable when it fails and my trusty Samsung Android. 😅
That's why all the hondabumps. They just can't be bothered
Linus do you live around Vancouver
For Ploof!!
More!
I totally want to see the gang install power locks, power windows, remote or push button start, reverse sensors maybe even a heads up display!
I got the top of the range pioneer one that costed me 2k aud love it but it lags at times but aye that's just shitty software
This is something that I should do to my own car. Also that’s a Honda. On next week’s video we’re gonna see the transmission being replaced.
Welp…wanted to thank you guys for nearly getting me arrested. 😮
How so? Simple – caught this video prior to my drive home, started viewing it after I arrived home. While viewing it (sitting in my old car at 2:05 a.m.) local law enforcement took it upon themselves to (rather rudely in my opinion) intrude upon my viewing re:local vagrancy statutes. Thankfully, running my license plates revealed that I was in fact parked in front of my residence. 🤦♂️
In any case, thanks for the video – most enjoyable. And, yes, I'm planning on an audio upgrade to my 2003 Toyota Matrix soon. Not really interested in a touch screen unit, but just about any audio unit would be an improvement over the 20 year old OEM POS that's in the car right now.
Backup camera would be better of it linked up to the reverse gear like the reverse light
This video speaks to me and my 2004 mazda 3 😂
I had an old civic, 250k km on it, like new, wish i still had it, im curently waiting for an old FORD to die to justify an upgrade
Imo it's not worth pouring money into a car that's worth like 1-2k on the second hand market. Besides that,a full gas tank on my old diesel car used to cost around 110$ where i live meanwhile my new hybrid gas+gpl car costs around 13$ for a fill. Aside from a better infotainment system and rear cameras you also get heated seats and other good stuff on new cars. Even in the second hand market you can get something way better and more confortable than spending money on a car like the one in this video. Not worth the trouble
Nice model y there in the background 👌
Tesla swap it!
The pioneer units come with a back up camera built in
4:15 "How does anyone not just do this?"
Well, if I have a $2000 car I don't really want to spend >$500 on a unit that gives me android auto with google maps (which I have on my phone that I put on a holder – not a cupholder) and the ability to play music wirelessly while the sound system isn't probably the best
Poverty button is a way better name for 'blank port'
Hyped for the new LTT Auto channel launch!
This is a clever man. Driving an old reliable vehicle. Modern ones are fancy and stuff, but are made like crap
Ikr
I have the Boss Unit in my 350z and it’s been the best experience I’ve ever added to my car
big up, Alex with the level ups
There's usually not much a point of buying a newer car unless it's heavily under-maintained making it no longer worth it.
Newer cars, besides costing a whole lot more and writing off a lot of value you could've put towards maintaining your older car you already know the history (ins and outs) of are also often built not to last as long, ending up being a money pit quicker when aging.
Not only aging becomes an issue due to cheaper/worse quality mechanics/materials used with lesser margins of errors, but they are so complicated now it becomes more and more difficult to maintain for a garage worker, again making you spending more for the same repairs.
And what if you get damage on your car? Due to all the sensors and stuff they just have to replace whole units instead which also costs a lot more, LED ALONE (pun intended) the newer LED headlights on cars when broken will cost you thousands to replace instead of a tenner for a hallogen lightbulb. Sure you have a better vision but it turned into a battle who creates the most blinding lights at this point harming the overall safety on the road. So you might actually get your car totalled just on a headlight unit…
And then there's newer cars where replacing a lightbulb is not an easy job either, removing parts of the bumper or even needing to remove wheels etc. is just not great.
The fuel economy is another thing, the past 20-30 years not much has improved on that point, the internal combustion engines have pretty much reached their peaks of possible fuel economy, so there's not much of a point replacing except turning it in for a smaller car or a car with a 6-speed gearbox.
Even for environmental reasons the particles emitted by modern cars are way way more smaller than they used to be, this has ironically become more of a danger due to it penetrating through pretty much anything and through your body.
I personally drive a Peugeot 206 (2008) 1.4 engine, the TU3 engines have existed for decades all the way back to the Peugeot 205 since 1986, yet today you still see those cars every now and then while the Peugeot 205 was released 40(!) years ago. Most modern vehicles will not equip an engine that will have this sort of durability, and due to cheap labour and easy maintenance there's zero need for something newer.
The only thing it lacked on is the radio really, because only AM/FM and CD, but it does have cruise control & speed limiter.
But replacing the radio was easily done within 30 minutes.
Installed a Kenwood BT960DAB DAB+ radio, put in a steering wheel control adapter, DIN to ISO adapter for aerial and a splitter for DAB+ and FM antenna connectors, all connected passively to the original ~80cm analog FM-antenna of the car.
The radio itself provides power for the antenna.
And guess what? Perfect DAB+ reception just like OEM-radio's in newer cars, FM, CD, USB, BT it is all on there and working.
Another thing is airconditions within the cars, older cars use R134a generally for cooling solution, these work more effectively than the newer variants like R1234yf which are even highly flammable and thus a higher risk, the only downside being R134a slowly becoming more expensive and well less environmentally friendly.
And in our country there's the thing where a lot of people import fully-equipped second hand cars from Germany as it will be cheaper and better than whatever they sell in our own country usually with barely any features and 1.0 liter engines.
Another thing regarding the environmental impact, it is no good for the environment to keep pushing for a car replacement every 5 ish years, whatever is already produced does not need tonnes of extra emissions to keep maintained while producing a whole new car, especially with the large SUVs these days, is nearly a criminal impact on the environment. A normal-sized average car with a light weight and a high durability is often a way better choice given you don't need more.
But all in all, maintenance is everything and the way you handle your car.
0:26 Windows should be always 11. For now at least.
This is exactly what I always say; good man. But as good as it sounds that Canadians use the metric system, it's shocking how many don't know how to pronounce kilometres correctly. It rhymes with nanometres or centimetres, not with thermometers or speedometers (because it's a unit of measurement, not a measuring device).
I did exactly this on my 99 corolla 8 years ago. I still use the same car made 24 years ago with some tech ugrade
Nr 1 reason for having a newer car is reliability if you do High mileage trips often. when i go on vacation every year, that´s at least 8000km in that one month and i need a good car that won´t fail me.
Sorry but no, how could you do this and run the cable over the carpet! Just run it under the carpet, slice a little hole in it under the centre console
I did this myself a few times already, works great.
But why did you route the cable in the middle of the car??
Route it inside the rubber on the sides!
put a k20 engine in it.
After having a 2002 Honda civic I can say it was indestructible

Crazy thought, keep modding this same car. a couple of videos leading up to his car fully tricked out.
Building a pc? Not scary. Upgrading my car that is valued less than my PC? Scary.
Linus just had to show of his Porsche 😂
No you.
For me, I’m just a big fan of how it looks inside newer vehicles. I love the updated looks of the interior
Does Canada have annual vehicle checks as cars wouldn't last that long with MOTs in the UK.
New paint job and slam it.
