  1. 3:43:20 My mom did that to me when I was 4 as well. I don't remember a lot of it, I remember a small flash, but my moms aid I NEVER threw a fit in public or at home like that again.

  2. Please don't force your kid to eat if they don't want to (unless theyre just not eating for other reasons, like they are playing etc.) But if they are sitting there not just wanting to run off and don't want to eat, let them not keep eating. They can tell if theyre full or not.

  3. Starfield is not garbage… It is not as good as it could and probably should be, and it apparently really isn't what you wanted, but it's not garbage. I think a big part of why it seems like garbage to you (Luke) is that you changed.

  4. So the thing about the Steam Deck in the Linux market share topic is that it's represented exactly as much as it should be. For people who are only using it as a console and therefore don't get counted because they don't generate web traffic, it's not a PC device for them; it's a console. But for the people who are actually going into desktop mode and using the browser, well they certainly are using it as a PC. So the right people are being counted and the right people are being not counted.

  5. This is the one time where, rather than Luke/Dan trying to push Linus out of the way of the Cancellation Truck (TM), Linus was desperately trying to hold on to the piano-wire-thin tether keeping Luke 'n Dan out of LIABILITY GORGE.

  6. geforce now has free tier its 1 hour daily and i play daily login games that don't have enough content in them to play for hours like jenshin impact

  7. The only fix for cheating in online games is manual review and banning. Unfortunately this will never happen because developers will never be able to argue to their bosses that the monetary cost is worth it.

  8. 50:43 Holy hell!

  9. Every major Anticheat is a kernel level anticheat. Time to stop this non sense we already gave them our data

  10. You can use your assets as write offs in the sense you lodge for depreciation of that asset in your returns.

So technically you're writing it off whilst also keeping the asset in its income making capacity. So you get the asset tax free

  11. 45:15 I think Linus may not understand since he doesn't play counter strike is that players were just asking for an update to the new engine because there were limitations tied to the first engine. also they wanted updates to tick rate match making and anti cheat which was included in cs2. players didn't want a fundamentally different game. so no one was expecting a new game just an update which valve decided to change the title for

  12. "we're gonna be a business factory" aaaand my lungs are now outside my body

  13. It’s always reassuring to see talk about the cheating problem, I’m very appreciative of Luke’s commentary about Tarkov a few months ago.

In thinking of a way to resolve cheating, I came up with an interesting idea. A game built around a dynamic matchmaking system, where the entire server is playing essentially the same level, and as players get more kills they are migrated into games of other players with similar KDR. Sorting players by skill in real time, to hopefully put distance between noobs and cheaters.

Which could be helpful in a general non-cheater sense too, as players who are inebriated can be skill matched in real time with other people operating on their level.

I suppose at the highest level of skill, those players would be perpetually up against Ai cheater players. Which wouldn’t be fun for the sweaties. But I thought it was kind of an interesting idea. And also interesting to think of what kind of game mode would make sense for this mega server experience where players were constantly being shuffled around.

Like imagine your warthog driver gets too many splatters and is teleported out ha ha. If we waited for the respawn to shuffle them, the cheating player may never go down. Maybe a system of portals or dropships could present moments of sorting.

I feel it’s not even close to fully baked solution, but maybe something thought provoking to help inspire a solution.

Perhaps the solution is something cultural and not related to game design, or perhaps game design could be used to instill a sense of honor or play styles that are so much more compelling than cheating ever would be. Perhaps some natural evolution from cheating, where cheaters grow out of cheating in games and go on to express their same cheaters thrills in other ways, hopefully ways non harmful and non scammy. It’s horrifying to think that the ease of cheating would instigate people ultimately adopting scams and fraud as a criminal lifestyle, if so it would be absolutely imperative for society to get ahead of it. I even wonder how many cheaters are former GTA players, that would be interesting demographic data to look at. Just because the character can’t jump worth a dam doesn’t mean they have to ruin all the other games for the rest of us. Ha ha

  14. Listening Linus snack munchie noises is horrible

  15. I know I'm preaching to the choir with the insanely rhetorical question, but seriously why would you cheat while playing an online first person shooter?

The only purpose of an FPS is to kill people for fun. If you have a computer helping you kill people… doesn't that defeat the purpose? Why not just load up a LAN game against easy bots?

I really don't understand. Like I could see myself doing this a few times just to see how good I am with aimbot/wall hacks… but after a few matches I would get bored and go back to just playing with my own skill.

  16. Talking about the taxes portion of the video. The reason why people think that is because that is exactly how taxes work in the United States if you were to be here that is exactly how that would work all you would have to do is do a couple events once a year there and that entire pool is now a tax write off. If you buy yourself a fancy car and put a sticker advertising for your company on it that car is now taxed right off.

  17. Carbon capture is thermodynamically unviable.

  18. I think we can safely say that this whole video was a……… tax write-off.

  19. Mathematically, I get it, yeah, $4 is a LOT compared to a month. Realistically, a buck would probably lose them money, between payment and processing fees, taxes, etc. $2 might be better. But $4 for a week, and then they offer you a month at the end, roll the $4 in, and then AUTO CANCEL IF YOU DECLINE would be fine.

But this is capitalism so no company trying to keep existing would do that.

BTW Linus, no, don;t do that with your trials. Just automatically cancel them if they don't accept after you send them an offer to continue subscribing. Always, always, always make anything you offer the customer, be it upgrades, services, or emails, opt-in, not opt-out. Customers LOVE not having to unsub or cancel just to check something out.

  20. Why do you guys put text where there is obviously going to be a timestamp over it for the video?

  21. 41:40
No, but also to benefit NVIDIA and entice you to upgrade sooner. Suddenly games that didn't require much at all now require a certain level of modern GPU for the new eye candy.

  22. I pirated the original GTA from an AOL chatroom…Those were the days

  23. 2:41:48 realization of cheaters in fps for me ruining games for me…was a game called delta force(the one from 1998)…and some games used players as the servers…and some players who had terrible internet worked to their advantage…i remember there was a way to glitch your internet so you would rubber band and people couldnt hit you…the anti-cheat would also have to watch your LAN…

  24. Bruh, love dad Linus. Want more of that, it's actually very helpful when thinking about the possibility of my future family. #Linusdadtips

  25. fawk I'm about the same I'm 99% sure the last game I pirated was Witcher 3

  26. What a beautiful thumbnail.

  27. Luke straight disrespecting Capcom like that. They sucked PS3 gen for sure though.

  28. I love merino. I want an LTT sunblock shirt, even if we don't get antimicrobal

  29. If you ignore emulators….and just talk PC games I've never pirated a game. Im just a cheap SOB & wait for them to go on sale for 67+% off on Steam then buy them. With a few exceptions. This is in the 20+ years I've been playing PC games. (Since the 80s on my friends C64. ) Music, TV shows & movies, well that's a different matter. :p

I want a new GPU, a 5000 series when they release but Nvidia may be SOL if they don't stop with the greed! My 3080ti is still a champ in most games. I recently played the Dead Space remake on ultra @1440p locked @144FPS without issue. Works for me!

  30. Linus, the idea is that nobody is going to buy into the small day passes because the value proposition. The day pass is just marketing for the monthly pass because they need latent unused time that people are buying into.

  31. I couldn’t disagree more with the merch message about the LTT cables. I think the market has been in desperate need for something exactly like Linus is envisioning. You can’t trust anything on Amazon, anything from a big box store is going to be overpriced, and on top of that if you want a certain color or length you’re pretty much out of luck. I for one can’t wait to see what they do with it and have a reliable source for quality cables with dependable specifications.

  32. Absolutely banger wan show, my goodness

  33. At 1:58:50 Linus just pinpointed the major issues with humans in the world today. "it's like they just don't want to understand"

  34. luke saying halo has ODSTs and hasn't made a game about them probably made every fan of halo 3 odst shit themselves in unison

  35. Interesting. I can see that.

You play everything on the cloud. Using your own local LAN or online server, or a third-party cloud server. And multiple fixed and mobile devices to play on. So gaming becomes platform agnostic. Nice!

At the same time, big studios die and many independent studios are born with the help of AI.

This could be an interesting future for gaming and especially for gamers.

  36. Ok but Luke’s magnus carlsen game evaluation idea is actually so sick…

  37. Please keep the UV protective hoodie going! I don’t care for it being anti microbial, but I burn super easy in the sun and it would be amazing in the summer! I can’t explain how much I have been hoping for this product since you first mentioned it! Please keep the project going!

  38. "priority day pass" sounds like a speed pass for a theme park… meaning if there's a queue, they get to skip it.

  39. no one believed me that the costco dingdongs were different in the filling than the normal store. i still have photos to show the difference.

  40. WOW guys that is one of the best opening for the show! Nice!

  41. The problem with the APK solution is that you're still not getting Google services which is critical for most apps to work, and it's why Huawei was ducked when the US did their usual thing

  42. Something I've noticed with children through looking back on myself, watching my younger siblings with large age gaps, and working with kids in some volunteer work is that one of the worst things you can do is try and force them to do something. Forcing them to do things makes them not want to do those things even more, you need to make them feel like they should do these things, if they're old enough to understand more complex reasoning then treat them like an adult and give them a clear explanation on why they should be doing this.
