  1. if a VPN lets you choose the server location is not a private VPN

  2. Thing is, I keep seeing VPN ads with the same exact nonsense talking points like "preventing you from getting hacked on unsafe public WiFi's", coming from the same exact companies too like Nord and Express. That said, I've never seen PIA do any of this so I'm totally fine with that.

  3. Anyone tried cryptostorm? Any thoughts about them?

  4. Glad I jumped on PIA years ago

  5. In the Philippines vpn are used to bypass mobile data restrictions like getting free internet even though you are not subscribed to any mobile data package.

If you want to have a vpn that can protect you. You can create your own vpn servers through cloud services.

  6. There he is acting like he's here to save us but instead he is just taking the bag of money once again at the cost of naive people that will believe any of this. It's clear that LTT has gained a lot of trust over the years and this is why you should never completely believe information from one single source, instead gather more information from real security experts instead from a guy that build pcs in a warehouse and reads scripts.

  7. Proton VPN is my VPN of choice but I may check out private internet access now to see if it's worth it

  8. Yes, Linus, of course i will trust a vpn company whose owner is Teddy Sagi, an Israeli businessman the same country that owns Pegasus. Not to mention, his support of the genocide that's going on in palastine

  9. Biggest problem for me with PIA is that they’re in the US. The points you made are all valid, but it still rubs me the wrong way, that with specific acts, the US government could still get a hold of the data, while stopping PIA to communicate it until it’s “too late”

A VPN provider in a four eyes country is therefore an immediate red flag for me

  10. The correct way to sponsor a VPN is what the italian streamer Dario Moccia does: he splurts out the same talking points everyone splurts out, but he does it by prefacing the whole ad by saying "VPNs are useful to watch pirated content… jk lol, VPNs are useful to [insert VPN talking point here], use my code to get [amount of discount]". I'm not sure if he really knows that the preface is actually the truth, but in any case, he at least acknowledges it

  11. South African and Indonesian friend?

  12. Linus Tech Tips talk about privacy and what is the best tools.
Also Linus: I have no tech security experience, no education in this tech sector, and no experience testing about the privacy tools being used. I also go hack several time like an idiot.

  13. Pity you can't take a look at what Raycons do, what they don't do, and whether they've ever been worth it. I can NEVER trust any of your sponsorships because you're happy to sponsor shoddy products.

  14. CHILE MENTIONED AT 2:30 LETS GO

  15. greed

  16. ive tried lots of vpns …id love to know deep down depths not just marketing of EVERYTHING about the company where its located ….right down to what toilet paper each vpn Business uses . They had you at Bro here is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and a puppie …. ISTILL WONT GO TO PRIVATEINTERNETACCESS IT LEAKS MORE THAN A WOMAN ON HER MONTHLIES . And yes i had Pia before and the OWNERS ARE DODGY .

  17. This feels well meant, but it really just felt like one big ad for 2 different companies; one official sponsor and one unofficial sponsor.

  18. 5:50 what in the buzzword? Bitcoin was never meant to be anonymous or untracable. It was meant to be trustless and uncontrollable by external factors. Which it is.

  19. Wow. An ad. An 11:39 second one.

  20. Vpn is useless unless youre doing what youre not supposed to be doing.

  21. I had no idea PIA was such a good company for privacy. I just use it for 'privateering' so I stop getting emails from att. Plus phub started blocking itself in my state.

  22. IMO there is no real point of using VPNs in NA region or Western Europe where there is no much blocked content, but when you live more on the east, good VPN basically is a necessity. Every day I need to turn on vpn to access some information that is straight up banned for my ip location or sometimes have ridiculously slow speed. Even steam downloads sometimes faster while using VPN

  23. Part of me is becoming just as sus towards services like delete me, aura, and every other privacy based subscription YouTubers are hawking these days

  24. **SURFSHARK**

  25. I've used PIA for years, it's been just super! 🙂

  26. Its nice finally having a proper video title.

  27. Didnt know PIA was this decent tbh, but I think itd be really cool if you reached out to a service like MullVad for some sort of sponsorship, they are easily the number 1 provider for security and paranoid schizo level privacy/anonymity

  28. I don't know there but in Spain Deloitte has become pretty famous because if they say "A" the real situation is going to be "opposite to A" hahaha

  29. Simple reason MONEYYYYYY $$$$$$

  30. i still use Mcafee to speed up computers, it is amazing, every time i find it i offer the option of uninstalling it, it can change a computer from a crawl to a cheetah!

  31. Bruh… Prepaid debit cards exist. Go to a small Mom and Pop place with no Cams if you're that worried, buy the card and use that. You activate most of them by calling to set them up and where I live anyway they don't require an address. I use them for everything online incse anything IS ever hacked. They get nothing but prepaid card numbers and PO boxes.

  32. because $. thats all. thats the video.

  33. Thanks!

  34. AirVPN ftw

  35. Mullvad. Mullvad. Mullvad. Pay them in cash by mail. No bullshit "deals", besides 10% if paid with crypto. No bulk discounts. Just straight up what you pay for.
Used them for years, continue to use them. And yes, I have tried to pay with mailed cash – Worked flawlessly.
I also use Proton. Mainly cause I like their products and has multiple audits on their no-logs policy. (dislike Protons sub-par linux support, but oh well).

  36. i like how nobody talks bad about delete me but everyone hated vpns? lol delete me is literally extrotion/blackmail from probly the same people that took your info in the first place because you didnt have a vpn and used your real email for everything 😛

  37. You guys do know that Google gives you a free VPN if you pay for Google One? It's like 3 bucks and you normally buy it for photo storage.

  38. HOW IS DeleteMe NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE USA?!?!

  39. Fun fact
Not all streaming services try and prevent vpn access
Sky Showtime (Paramount+ but basically made to comply with EU regulations) works with ProtonVPN free tier

  40. Okay but aren't the "delete your data from data-brokers" basically the next over-marketed crap? Is there even any evidence that they actually make any difference for people in real life? I imagine if you delete your data from some brokers it won't make too much of a difference. People who want such data probably aggregate it from many sources. If you don't scrub your entire internet footprint it might not matter. And I have doubts that these deleting companies are that thorough.

  41. Wow. PCmag and IGN are corrupt. Who could have foreseen this?!? /s

  42. 9:37 something about seeing all the logs requested and all the corresponding logs provided being 0 is really funny to me.

  43. I use mullvad through tailscale. perfect combination for me.

  44. The fact you did protons company as a example is wild… Pretty gay..

  45. Sorry, PIA has weird marketing. Good video, but if youre reading this, buy mullvad. Just do it.
