Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Elite X processors promise to be big on performance and little on battery drain, but can they possibly live up to Qualcomm’s lofty claims?

The beard is finally growing again
Windows on ARM and Qualcomm laptops are not a first-generation thing.
great video and you often go into gaming and graphic professional programs….but never about audio use…how do this laptop go with music production or live mixing on emulation? these applications require external peripherals and could that create issues with ARM?
How different you treat MS ARM – all good – vs Linux – all bad -.
Linus 3 Weeks ago: "eventually they coaxed me back in with unfettered access to their army of partnered devices and with my favorite kind of sponsorship the kind where I make a video that I would have made anyway"
Linus today: "yes I'm free gone are my sponsor obligations to Qualcomm about their new Snapdragon X Elite chips I can say everything I want"
Does it run Linux? 😂
you have to test against an M3 Pro because of the number of cores
It's funny how he starts the video with being free of the sponsorship and being able to say whatever he wants now, then proceeds to be almost the only big tech channel that is overly positive. He gets hyped about the performance that Qualcomm overpromised and underdelivered. Same goes for almost every aspect of the laptop. Overpromised, underdelivered, Linus is still hyped. Looks like even after the Gamers Nexus video not too much changed at LTT
I just clicked because the thumbnail is hot
I guess I can now be optimistic that in a few years I can just about afford a second hand product that is kinda working😂
Run Linux
3:25 WINDOWS BATTERY SAVER MODE ???
A significant advantage of Macbooks is their incredible performance on battery power. How is the performance of the Snapdragon Elite chips on battery?
These seem like great Windows laptops
(to immediately install Linux on)
5:05 so then by comparison, an admittedly more expensive, 12 core Apple computer is still faster
In saying that too though this is a huge win for windows computers and I’m happy for it
THE BEST IS MEDIATEK
Take battery out of the picture can a 13650h and 4060 beat it at the £600 price point?
This is all good but how does this all stack up against a 4060 or 4070 laptop with GPU performance.
I used to watch linus before the channel became shill tech tips
You do realise that saying that since you aren't sponsored you can say what you actually think isn't really a good flex right?
Should be able to get a GeForce in there, as Nvidia already does arm + geforce in things like the nintendo switch
So, non-AI Snapdragon X when?

0:54 Linus den snuck in a lil girls room for the sponsor😭😭🤣
04:03 They are not the same. Many reviews have shown that Hawk Point is actually notably better than Phoenix. Strix Point is also right around the corner, and will be better still. So you're not really showing the actual x86 competition here.
SCREW IT! I will stick with my trusty Intel and AMD X86/X64 chips.
Is it me or why are they not comparing the z elite to the m ultra
x86 forever 😁
Linus is full of crap, what a f'ing shill. How anyone takes his
advice seriously is beyond me. If you want the real story on the state of Windows on ARM check out Wendell's (from level1techs) take on the situation. It is a day and night difference from what Linus is telling his viewers. It will save you time, money and tons of frustration. While the hardware is ready, the software side of things is a joke. If you want a competent, capable and powerful arm-based hardware that runs software natively just buy a one of Apples products. And I say that as someone who does not like Apple as a company. I myself am waiting for the Amd's next generation cpu's launching in the next month, especially their new laptop Cpu's.
So the Xbox handheld will be arm to hit the sweet spot between decent graphics and good battery
casually admitting that another company had editorial control over your content ain't exactly a good thing
Not spending $2k on a laptop.
Does it run blender?
Gonna be honest, I got side tracked, wandered off.
Came back to 12:06 and got called out for getting side tracked and wandering off….
its cheaper for the laptop companies to buy these chips over intel or amd so good laptops being made for this soc isnt surprising. but it also means that these laptops are sold at more understandable prices and its competitive with the macbooks
Was that shirt purple or blue
Still gonna buy MacBook its stable and far ahead of windows. Snapdragon did excellent work for battery life but problem is windows it’s junk copilot is meh 🫤 as linus said as it’s not as good as good translation. As a tecy i wish Microsoft works more on windows make it lighter ui well designed and stable for most part . Its 2024 still my gaming pc missing its drivers after updates 😢
Did they buy the handcuffs from a sex store?
it's still sponsored by qualcommm or he just glazing to get sponsored in the future. (time saved: life time yw)
i know its a lot to ask but pls consider adding pugetbench for premiere to the benchmarks. Would mean a lot to so many creators and creatives
So, it seems that CoPilot Recall has been … recalled?
This is still very much an early adopter product. While setting this up I had to look quite hard to find the native ARM version of the software I need. Less computer literate people can get easily tripped up and install the wrong version and then complain why the apps are so slow or don't work.
Also there appears to be no Windows Subsystem for Android support for these machines, which is a bummer as while it is no longer supported it should in theory still have been available until 2025
People were mad at Intel.
Laptops were expensive, blamed Intel for higher prices.
I was told competition from ARM would reduce prices.
These ARM laptops are more expensive than Intel powered laptops.
How come?
Would x86 take a performance hit emulating arm?
So it is publicly known that these things barley run any games, and a large chunk of apps used on windows also don't run.(yet) And Linus starts the video saying they are good… followed by trying to convince us he wasn't paid to say so… This video definitely gets a HUGE DisLike from me. 👎👎👎👎
