For the soundproofing material, the best ones are those intended for cars. Use butyl rubber mat (formerly made of bitumen and the name still sticks) for metal panels. It will make them heavier but that's the point: the mass is what silences the low frequency hum. The panels should now sound vaguely like wood when knocked on. Then for any naked surfaces (including those covered by rubber mats), use a closed cell PE foam mat. This kind of foam replaced good old felt sound deadening. Mind the airflow and it may even improve cooling by forcing air exactly where it needs to go.

I see a potential genius of an idea that could come of this. Won't make any money but if you pair this with pre-hung double pane glass from Home Theater Glass, you could revamp the specifics to make a projector hush box in the neighborhood of around $400 bucks. Most professional hushboxes are farrrr more expensive.

Not sure why anyone would make a box like this. My PC has zero insulation and 9 BeQuiet SW3s + a GPU with no zero rpm mode and it runs cooler and is just as quiet as the PC in the video with the huge box. It's actually hard to get the noise floor low enough to pick it up.
I do feel like we probably should factor in the cost of a new desk to sit it on. Or… chuck the monitor on top and it becomes the new desk? At least a new foot rest.

Just buy the best BeQuiet Case you can find. They have sound insulation too and look better then a wooden box.

i used all noctua fans, and they are so quiet that i sometimes think it's not turning on…😅i used noctua nh-u12s and i add one more noctua nf-f12 ,and used 4 noctua nf-f12 , three in the front and one at the back and two nf-a14 at the top…. and even mod my gpu with noctua nf-a12x25 pwm… best decision i've ever made…and my case is ant esport ice4000 meshed and is the best budget airflow case in the market in my opinion….
I wonder how no case, so bare mainboard like a display piece with no additional fans, would do in comparison. Afaik thermals should be fine and being down to only CPU und GPU fans should reduce noise a lot.
Oh, and I know appearantly everybody has cats and kids and open cases are dangerous for the component, yadda yadda, but just put that aside and consider the question.

It's important to specify the thickness of the plywood, especially if you are going to be screwing it together. For PC case work I use 18mm thick ply.

How is a box with gaps in it going to block sound? It would block light, but sound doesn't work in the same way. I thought a gap = instantly not sound proof.
Looks like an ordinary light trap for an indoor agricultural culture. Is exactly the same setup only with activated carbon filter & snail shell fan in it instead of a PC. But who do I tell that when they throw around with maliciously sneaky innuendos that are full of ass because you don't even have an apartment or something like a home anymore…& I would have built the shit with Tik wood & put a 2cmm safety's composite glass plate on top & used the whole thing as a desk, If everything hadn't been ridden completely into the shit…! I don't understand their jokes & those of my environment even less so… Because it's no fun at all… if you fight for survival in bloody seriousness because of Nazi fascist methods of schematics of such systematic dictatorships
