So, is the new Nest Wired doorbell a keeper? Hereâs a link to it if youâre interested: https://amzn.to/3rIsRMF
Has anyone experienced this in cold weather? Does it still work?
I have the first gen wired nest and it works great but has not held up well to the sun. It still works great but the actual device looks horrible.
So do you think this is better than ring pro 2 wired? Do you have a comparison video?
i kinda miss the previous nest wired doorbell for looking at the differences đ other then that thanks for another good video
Question on google. It's 3 hours for free recording but idk what that means. Can you only see the most recent 3 hours? So if something happens at 1am when I'm asleep, does this mean that I can check footage at 7am when I wake up? Also, when I view the past 3 hours of footage, am I able to download the portion iof the needed footage (like 1 min of package delivery, not all 3 hours).
Are you not handing your privacy over to Google-Big brother?
Is there any kind of router involved and is there any way it could be hooked to a hard drive? I have Arlo 2 now and all vids are sent directly to a hard drive I clean off about every three months. No costs.
Wow so unfortunate, I was thinking about switching from my Arlo-wired doorbell. Can't believe Google lowered resolution by so much. Deal breaker.
So I'm a little confused. This wired door bell and the nest camera both only keep the last 3 hours? And I don't get the 24/7 footage.
I had the previous version and it broke just after warranty period. build quality is not good. After a year, the protective layer begins to dissolve. Wouldn't buy a litter now would go for RING now
Based on the in depth review from "The Hook Up", if you can get a cable to your front door, the new ReoLink POE camera is the best and it's not even very close. Plus, I try to avoid any and all cameras, wiretaps errr excuse me 'personal assistants', and other data gathering devices that are products of Google or Amazon.
Imagine trusting google with your security and privacy. Imagine
bork
I had a battery version of Google Doorbell. They forgot to tell there is no call on the mobile just push notifications. Very slow operation. I never had a chance to talk with anyone as the person was million miles away once the doorbell connected to the mobile. I sold mine and avoid any other Google doorbell now.
You mean ,Track your assa, invade your privacy, se, selll and market your data WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION, GOOGLESS ALPHA-b. Yea, NO THANKS. Already dealt with the infant monitor mess, yep, they sell that data too
I'm looking at differences between the Nest Wired vs Nest Battery doorbell, and for some reason Google only put the battery version up on their black friday sale. :/
đ Can you tell me more about the pegboard you have ? What size panels are you using? Thanks!
Might be worth mentioning that the superior Nest app doesnât work work with new doorbells. Quite the failure of Google as well.
Unless Iâm doing something wrong I hate that every time I buy a new Google camera it forces me to use the Google Home software when the Nest software is way better 1000 times better do you happen to know am I doing something wrong or is that the way it is I love my older cameras better because they still use the Nest software my newer ones will show my older ones but my newer ones only work with Google Home software again unless Iâm doing something wrong
So strange why they dont build a top camera from the beginning. These companies are acting like there is no good camera technique invented yet
Please compare to Arlo.
Great video! I have yet to get a doorbell but this one looks pretty good. Question. I would really like a nice decorative modern looking porch light that has motion detection to turn the light on and off, can be controlled with an app, work with google Assistant, and has a camera that does what the doorbell does. do you know of or have you reviewed any with that functionality? Thanks!
Thanks a lot for the detailed review. How is home assistant integration with the new model? Can we do local recording with home assistant Google api access?
Hello, were you able to get this into HA? got one today and it is not showing up in the nest integration. Then realized it is using google home app, so not sure if it can be integrated. If not I may return it
Can you please review Reolink door bell?
Lifehackster exposed some pretty concerning flaws re: the cooldown period. He wouldnât get any notifications.
Mount it horizontal đmore coverage
0:58 can somebody please smack the back of the head at the responsible for this.
Thanks for your video very informative
Thank you for this review. I almost bought the gen 2 to replace gen 1 yesterday. So far the reason I didnât. Is bc it wonât work on the nest app and only google home app. Iâm waiting until they make the google home app as good as nest app or close down the nest app. I am disappointed of the narrower field of view. Odd choice
Seems to be the bestâŚbut wish it was HomeKit
Youâre getting this all wrong. The HomeKit Logitech Doorbell is by far the best under $400 doorbell. I love UniFis stuff as I have all their networking gear but the lack of native HomeKit integration. Control4 and savants doorbells might be a little better but honestly I think having the Logitech record to HomeKit secure video is the best bet. One camera is included in all iCloud accounts. I have 12 other 4K cameras recording to HKSV and everything works great. Use Hikvision cameras that also record locally to a NVR. But facial recognition works great and announces people on all TVs and speakers and all devices. Package detection works great. The 9:16 image is wide enough to see packages and it does color at night pretty well. I had a little trouble with it initially because the power supply I bought for it was too powerful. 24vac supplies really isnât 24. More like 27-28vac. I only had cat6a running to my front door. Why canât companies just put a Ethernet port with poe on their devices. Even UniFi of all companies. Yeah I know they sell the poe to usb kit now but even though the Logitech has a usb port for power while setting up, itâs on the bottom not the back so itâs not able to use it when attached to the wall without seeing the cable.
Logitech support is pretty good. A lot of people have complained that it overheats especially when the front door is in direct sunlight, but I donât have that issue. I mounted mine on a metal decorative switch cover plate and I think it helps dissipate heat and makes it look nicer. I wish theyâd make a flush mount version. Wifi on the Logitech is good. 5ghz high speed supported.
The Logitech just works on all apples devices including the Apple Watch. Two way audio works perfectly. Works great on Mac using the home app. Notifications are instant. And it works with any HomeKit automations you may want to program. And it has a lux light sensor in it that shows in HomeKit.
Iâve had the Logitech for two years with no problems.
Oh and zero subscription fees. And because it uses HomeKit secure video, all of the video processing is done locally and works without internet. All video that gets uploaded to apples cloud is encrypted locally and apple doesnât have the keys. And theyâre not selling user data. No way would I ever use a google or Amazon product in my home. Even with secure dns ad blocking servers.
Quit saying these other doorbells are the best. Compare it to the Logitech. Then youâll probably want to make a video saying how wrong you were.
And I hate Logitech. Their remotes have been a pain in my a for 20 years. And they just discontinued them.
Hey Reed! Big fan of the channel! Question on the new google wired video doorbell. I currently have the Nest Hello, and a google eco system through the house. But I do have smartthings too.
Anyway the Nest Hello is delayed anywhere from 10-30seconds. Has the new doorbell improved on that? And if not do you have any other recommendations?
Still rocking the old Nest Hello. I think the wider view is much preferred for my usecase.
After watching this it looks like they changed the field of view to fit on phone screens better.
FYI, I keep getting spammed by scammers using your profile pic. I know it's becoming a thing now on Youtube comments, you may want to remind views not to engage with anyone pretending to be you.
If you currently had a Nest Hello, that likes to die when the weather gets cold because of the internal battery… Would you replace it with this or something else? Appreciate your videos man!
I just got the eufy 2k 2 camera doorbell and it's nice but it doesn't fit with the the Google ecosystem. It doesn't show on the good hub max, on the Sony Google TV's or any where. You have to ask for it to be shown but you cannot respond. I think I might get this Google doorbell instead, i want it to integrate nicely to the hub and TV's. Hopefully it's better than the eufy one
This is the best video doorbell. Unfortunately, it is on the google ecosystem. Pass
Save your money. Customer support for the Google doorbell is a nightmare.
Does anyone know if it supports HomeKit?
Can someone help me automate turning on my porch lights (kasa smart switch) with notifications from my Nest Hello doorbell? thank you!
Amcrest doorbell is the holy grail for me. IP/ONVIF support.. Unifi requires you buy THEIR cameras, which are never in stock and very limiting. Can't use other brands of IP cameras with Unifi protect.
Is it worth upgrading from the battery? I have the battery, but haven't installed it yet.
Does anyone know if there is a way to connect a Nest Doorbell/Ring Doorbell or any other door bell, and use an App to open a Gate with an Electric Strike mechanism, if I decide to? This will work similar to an intercom with a video feed and that can open the gate if I want to.
I'm hesitating between this or a eufy doorbell, what's your take?
It all seems like a pointless trap to get you to subscribe to their service. Why should I need to sub to such a service when it could just record on internal storage/sd card with an option to back it up to whatever cloud service youâre already subâd to? Especially when you already have Google Drive – which everyone with a Gmail/YouTube account already has. I have a cheap crappy camera that notifies me of movement and takes a photo, albeit in very low res that is activated very slowly and lacks all the other features. It has a subscription option but I just use the sd card (nobody has stolen it yet and it's not even mounted).
You mocked Googles response to questions about resolution as âthat's what they would sayâ then straight after that you admitted that it's possible there is some truth to their claims but you just don't believe it.
Can this be added with the nest app since I have a nest thermostat already? Or do I have to use a different google app to access the doorbell?
Iâm still waiting for a wireless HomeKit doorbell. Eufy lied and never gave us the update they promised.
