I prepare for staying home. I used our solar lanterns when we lost power all night, just last night. Just remember to recharge them before and after use. I do have food, lighters, wood, propane and butane, camping stoves and extra toiletries. I also keep some solar chargers and a non electric kettle. I save all plastic knives and forks. I have several ways of purifying water and have a rain barrel. I bought a solar shower but wasn't impressed so I have a battery one. I also have walkie talkies. I always have had candles and therefore, lighters too. It is good to be prepared but feel it can become an obsession for some. I try not to be. I slowly add. My daughter is the gardener in the family so we have plants and seeds. I have 2 axes and few other tools.
