Is the smart things outlet special for its ability to do the task for the washer, or could the same be done with other outlets, like Meross?
For the smart lights flashing on doorbell, if you have a broadloom RM pro or a similar device already for tv or another device you can just use a cheap wireless doorbell from the local bargain store, and use a routine for flashing the lights
None of these are even possible now cuz IFTTT decided to become expensive and make the free version unusable :/
Hi man, Do you have any tricks to get notified if grid power goes off because my home power backup is directly connected to my home so if the power goes off it just gives some 3 to 5 beeps that's all. so, is there are any suggestions?
Glad I found this channel! Your videos are so good!
3:27 may be toggle once, wait 2 seconds, toggle again (not On or Off specifically, just toggle)?
Why not set a timer / reminder for 40mins no matter what the load is, it wouldn't wash over 40mins or 50mins whatever..!
I have a challenge! Can you create an alarm system without buying an alarm system?
Do you know of any videos for webcore for beginners? No one really explaining it for first time users
I tried to use the ifttt app with the Ring doorbell and Lifx bulbs and the app always waited at least 2 hours to blink the lights. No idea why that was happening.
Is there a way to do some of the routines with google home?
I always look forward to the last part which is always funny!
Thumbs up for Reed’s awesomeness and helpfulness!!
Hi Reed, found your channel and loving the content and your presentation style. Two questions, one is a challenge. 1) Are you running your smart IOTs on the same network/WiFi as your home phones and computers? 2) and the challenge i want to figure out once we move to our new house in a few months — Have Wyze/Arlo/other camera PIP on TV (fire stick?) when motion is detected.
Can you recommend a smart plug that will send a notification (ST home) when power is detected? I am installing a backup, higher sump pump and I would like to know if it ever turns on.
love the film references… Anchorman, Home Alone… nice
Love the idea of these challenges, excited to see more videos like this!
Hi – I enjoyed the video and going to work on setting up both my washer and dryer with the outlets. However I'd recommend you edit your video and put a disclaimer that webcore requires a hub. You didn't mention that in the video, only in the article. That would have been useful when I ordered my smart plugs. However I'm going to attempt to create automations without webcore and see if I can get it to work.
EDIT – i was able to use a SmartThings automations to accomplish this. My power meter sits at 2.0w when my washer/dryer are at idle; i created an automation that notified me when my power meter was equal to or below 5.0w. Hope this helps others.
A work with a brand in Mexico, called Lvmina Experience Center, were al the home suite it’s completely integrated.
You can make that after the pet food feeder the vacumm goes after the dogs eats.
It’s also compatible with the door lock with illumination, confort devices and AC.
The suite it’s very powerful and we work with architects and developer to give customer smart homes as a final product
Hi, is there any way to make my Alexa notify me when I am going to start an event on my calendar (like 15 minutes before)?
I thought of one!!!
Here's my use case, I have an office that doubles as a guest room with a Murphy bed, when the bed is up, pressing the smart switch will turn on lights, LEDS the monitor plug ect, but when the bed is down the switch will only trigger the lights and maybe some additional items.
I'm thinking a gyro sensor to know the state of the bed, but how to perform a check to decide the action upon button press, I have no idea.
ok i got a better idea now:
use a sensor to trigger a command word for your dog and have it only trigger when your away.
say set up the trash can to say "leave it" or "no" when the dog goes for it while your gone.
now that i think about you probably already knew this idea
I have the broadlink mini controlling my tvs turning on and off, sadly I can't put them in the same Alexa category as if I say Alexa turn the living room off, it will turn the tv on if it wasn't and vice versa.
The washer notification idea is fantastic. I bought a Zooz power switch for this purpose. It reports the power every 5 minutes but can't figure out how to program it with Hubitat Rule Machine. Care to comment?
Great video…i have some things I’d like to use the v3 smart things sensors. Is it necessary to use IFFT or the other program you mention? Last time I did programming was c++ in high school so I don’t have time to learn something else.
