Why does everyone say that the new Xbox controllers don't come with rechargeable batteries? I've bought 2 from Walmart since the new """series""" and they come with a removable pack in the AA slot and the controllers can charge though the USB-C slot. Is it just my Walmart or do other areas Microsoft not include that battery pack?

Respectfully.. sometimes it's not about the controller, more like about the skill issue. i knew someone who can beat Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice no hit run seamlessly with only a $5 crappy ahh controller honestly to me it's more like an ancient artifact rather than a proper fancy controller itself 🙂

Honestly surprised the new flydigi Vader 4 pro wasn’t mentioned in this. I recently gone one and it’s by far the best controller I’ve used for FPS games. I’ve owned scufs/battlebeaver/edge and it’s miles better for a fraction of the price. Honestly everyone is sleeping on this new controller.
The point you brought up about the Xbox Wireless Adapter supporting up to 8 controllers, while true, generally never works in real world settings. Ive tried it at multiple gatherings and the more people you add with phones, earbuds, other wireless devices, the controllers will start to disconnect. Also, adding 8 people adds distance because everyone cant sit on top of each other. Ive only ever been able to use about 4 max.
Xbox controller is the cheapest pos you can buy literally comes with stick drift.

I bought the f710 back in 2015 when I first built my pc because it was relatively cheap. There were no 8bitDo's at that time and no bootleg ds4 controllers in where I usually went.
Picked up an Xbox controller for the first time since getting a steam deck 6 weeks ago. Was absolutely disgusted by the feel and angle of it. wtf has gabe done to us
8bitdo has been quietly making killer controllers for quite some time now. If you buy one of those emulator consoles with 15 million games the first thing you need to do is order an 8bitdo SN30 or Pro 2 to replace the horrific controllers that usually come with the console.
Ok, you actually got me to buy that controller. Even though I genuinely hate controllers (I generally play stuff that makes more sense with a keyboard and a mouse, with a rare racing game or, perhaps, an action or platformer with horrendous, and non-reconfigurable, keyboard support).
EDIT: Days after the submarine disaster, I started periodically seeing ads for a major retailer on social media and the first highlighted thing would be that Logitech controller. Weird marketing. It's cheap, so I doubt that it makes them more money than something newer and better, and it's old and actually ugly. And now it's linked with a deadly level of shoddiness.

I like the ergos of the X box controllers but every single one ive had seems to have similar face buttons and they failed very quickly, had the xbox one, xbox elite v2, xbox series and they all had face buttons start to barely register inputs in less than 100 hours of gameplay which is pretty terrible. (I was really disappointed that the elite 2 failed considering the astronomical price, was hoping for decent build quality)
Bought a razer wolverine v2 wired on sale to try its "mechanical" switches hoping they would fare far better, a dual sense ps5 controller and the 8Bit Do Ultimate C to trial and so far none of those controllers have issues although i havent used them that heavily so far, probably tens of hours each.
I think the official xbox controller models are a bit of a relic of the past and everyone else has moved forward in design, features and build quality; think the xbox controllers should be like ~20-25 bucks USD for what you get
Linus touched on the point that the face buttons were awkward, but then seemed to get used to them. I had the 1C and ended up returning it because I thought they were horrible. They have too much travel and an uncomfortable 'clunk' engagement. Much like the cheap Power A Switch controllers if you've ever used them, but maybe even worse.
Integrated batteries are horrible. All my ps4 controllers dont hold charge but my xbox doesn't matter because i can change the rechargeable pack whenever i want. Work smarter not harder people.

Let's completley ignore the fact that xbox is dragging the market 10 years behind by refusing to put gyro in their controllers and not care if it's there despite it being the biggest innovation to come out of controllers in the last 10 years and objectiveley the best way to play almost all 3d games (yes, not only shoothers) with any controller…

My main problem with the xbox controller, and all its imitators, is the asymmetrical design. 90% of the time, your thumbs are going to want to rest on either twin sticks, or dpad and face buttons. Reversing the position of these on the different sides of the controller means that your hands will always have to be offset, which means your grips can never be in the ideal position.
When the switch did it, that was acceptable because each side of the controller is supposed to work as an independent joycon when detached and rotated. But as far as I can tell the original xbox just made the chance for the sake of looking different from a playstation, and 90+% of third parties are just imitating their layout instead of thinking.
I do think the ps4 controller is better than the ps5, the newer one is less comfortable, has worse battery life, and doesn't seem to gain anything, while being much more expensive.
I will say that after using hall effect sticks, it's hard to go back to anything else. Even high quality sticks used to need at least 5% deadzones, usually closer to 20-30%. Playing with zero deadzones is literally a game changer.
I am more surprised that he didn't mention the gamesir g7 se controller when he said 30$ controller for me it feels way better than the 8bitdo

I have an 8bitDo, and had to let it go. The button mapping software needs work. I keep losing connection mid game even with a wired connection, plus for some reason, my mapped buttons stop functioning and to fix it, i have to relaunch the mapping software. Eventually, the pc stopped recognizing the controller altogether and i had to shelve it.
