Awesome Tips Nest Doorbell Battery – Kind of a BIG deal
Nest’s new Doorbell Battery is a big deal…kind of. It’s missing 24/7 footage, but I’ll show you how that may not actually be a dealbreaker!

Make sure you don’t miss my new Nest Camera Battery video I also just uploaded: https://youtu.be/pgoXL2bExko I think the footage from the camera may surprise you in some ways!
Which battery doorbell do you recommend? I've been considering the Eufy Dual but unsure which to get.
💯🥰Works great Newest.Technology no problems🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hello, thank you for you video it was very helpfull. I wanted to ask you where does you doorbell sound when you ring it? I want the doorbell to ring on my iphone, like using my iphone as the chime, but cant manage to do so. Video works, notifications work, but I cant make it ring on my iphone or ipads. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
I just installed this today and was blown away that they let you get notifications on your echo devices. I thought I'd have my Google Hubs doing all the work. Very cool.
Only complaint is the delayed notification and lack of sound when person at door
I'm never gonna understand why people want 24/7 recording? For what? To catch ghosts? I mean, it records whenever it see something moving? So why the hell do you need it to record nothing for the majority of the day?
Can the Nest doorbell alert you on Alexa or Google Home when delivery person drops off a parcel without ringing the bell?
Is it waterproof
I wish there was an anti theft door mount that fit the google nest. 😔
If you live in a neighborhood that assumes itself "safe", can you gauge how your neighbors feel about the cameras? How did you get the eufy cams mounted on the outside of your home? I should probably go back through your back catalog. Just got a home and am lost as to set things up. I move in like….three weeks from my two bedroom apartment. I am a bit overwhelmed lol.
Can you connect any external Google Nest cameras to this and watch the videos from the same app like you can Ring?
In the beginning of the video you said if your internet goes down you can record up to one hour of footage. How is that? Is there an SD card in the video doorbell camera or does it record the 1 hr. worth of video somewhere else?
When i wire the 199$ google bell, does the wire charge the battery ? Or only for chime ?
Dont buy this. Try to buy black box camera (much cheaper and effective)
if robber stole and breaked this (since it exposed to the outdoor) you will lose that door bell camera. And you must detach it from the mount and recharge if its battery died. Rather than buying this, to be honest, buying fire arms should be the best idea for self defence or it will be okay to buy black box camera as well.
This is expensive shit.
Can i Change the Battery of the device. For example after two years when the Battery lost half of its Capacity?
how do you reset it so i can change the wifi i removed it from home first n now i can’t get it to work
The worst looking doorbell out! this thing is massive!! What a backwards move by nest!
Taking it off to recharge means there is no security and you are basically blind. Defeats the purpose entirely.
This thing will not work in prolonged winter temperatures. The thing runs off battery EVEN WHEN HARDWIRED, there is no way around the battery, and the battery fails below -10c. It will not charge via doorbell wires, and you have to unhook it and take it inside to charge via USB for at least 5 hours. The battery does not hold its charge in cold weather and will last as little as 1 week. Be warned.
Thank you for this! Is the ability create zones require a subscription?
It's definitely a big deal as it's so easy to steal off the front porch of anyone's home.
Good review. keep it up 👍
Any clue how good the battery life is if just going off the battery pack rather than being wired?
Is your go to camera right now the nest cam battery? I am testing a Wyze V3 but since the Wyze pro doorbell isn’t out, it’s a hassle having multiple camera set ups.
One aspect of these doorbells you are mssing is the temperature range. I live in Las Vegas where the temperatures can go above 104 degress. During the summer, my Google Nest Wired daily shuts down when these temperatures occur. Sadly, Google has the same temperature ranges for the new battery doorbell. There are other doorbells which can handle higher temperatures. In short, don't buy a Google doorbell if you live in hot climates.
I got one but can somebody steal it? It seems like anyone can remove it from the wall?
what stops anybody to go to you door and take the doorbell with them so they have a nice new nest doorbell?
Really great review!
For a Doorbell this is pretty good! Adding to my christmas whish list.
As a current Nest user I wouldn’t recommend it especially if you are looking at home automations like switching on lights inside the house based on activity or any other automation you can think of. Partly because unlike Ring or other major brands Nest is pretty poor with automation support.
As a camera it is great and 24/7 recording was the only reason I thought it was better over Ring pro. However in this version that is not there as well, so not sure why anyone would choose this one especially since the subscription is more expensive!!
I installed a Ring Pro 2 a couple weeks ago. The 6 second pre-roll works great and the notifications are fast and accurate. Video is very good day & night. I don't know why i would need 24/7 video but I feel I'm missing nothing. Awesome product that looks great at my front entry. Huge WAF factor. The Nest or Nest Battery? Ones big and the other has too much cloud computing going on to give quick notifications. The Ring subscription is about 40% less than Google's here in Canada. Buy whatever fits your needs. The Ring for me this time around.
Awesome review! Thanks 👍
sorry im new to this, why do you need 24/7 recording?
SMS… How do you get this thing to send a chime? Will it work with a Google Home Mini? In the settings, it says that it won't chime in battery mode. Well, it is ONLY a battery mode.Any insight?
I bought and returned this. Other than the video quality not being great the two biggest issues were that it wasn't 3 hours worth of events storage (i.e. multiple 30 sec clips adding up to 3 hours), it is events stored for 3 hours before cleared which is a real issue if something happens at night and the clip is deleted before you get up. Secondly when you get a notification and click on it, I would get the message that the video is not ready for viewing and you have to wait a while until it's available…. totally unacceptable and can't believe Google released a product with these types of issues.
May I know if the doorbell still working while charging? let said if I build a casing with a USB always charging it
Is the older Nest Hello still on sale ?
I have the Eufy video doorbell, it's wired but I love it. What is your recommendation for video doorbell?
Can you atleast stream it 24/7?
If you’re already on the new Nest subscription it includes 24/7 video on all devices. So if you’re already in the nest ecosystem you might as well get the wired one. The battery one is probably fine if you’ve got a side door or some other place without existing wiring though
Great review, we recently moved house and left our Nest Hello for our buyers. I just bought a new Nest Hello for our new house and was regretting it when I saw the new lower priced model. No regrets now, thank you for the clarity!
What tablet is being used in this review?
Is possible that bcuz of the weather where u live is why they have concerns about overheating? I have the "Hello" stays on 24/7. No overheating. I'm in N.Y.
To bad they still havent fixed the echo issue. The problem is some samsung phones will echo the the voice back to the person that rings the door bell.
