With new computer parts rumored to be around the corner, should you wait, or should you buy computer parts now? And with the Tariffs possibly coming in next year, this complicates things even further!

A question will the tariffs affect elsewhere by any chance?
11:16 is there someone breathing in the mic or am I hearing stuff ?
10:40 That's the problem. Too many people saying 'oh I don't want to discuss politics' led to this mess. You already discuss politics. You just discussed the economics of international trade and the impact on the cost of living. That's politics! And yes we should talk about it, at it impacts us all.
Oh no, americans wont get everything for basically free anymore
Loved this video. More educational videos! ❤
I understand what the tariffs are. But what I don't quite get is the "why?"
Of course the government gets more money, but in that case why would the president announce it publicly instead of quietly sneaking it in when he'll be in office? China won't suffer from it, the only people who are hurt by this are consumers who will vote next time, possibly for a politician who'll promise to make stuff cheap again
i can ride out this disaster. i got good shit, savings, and successful boomer family that likes me. god saying that makes me feel old and terrible.
Sadly, even if you’re in Canada, you can expect to pay for mister America’s stiff upper lip. If it happens. Watch and see.
Let's go Trump!!! We'll start our own factories here in the US of A to produce this stuff. It's not a matter of inflation, it's a matter of creating jobs in our own country in these specific sectors of the market. Companies will fill in the gaps, that is what is so great about capitalism
It’s bad for business to be selling products at a price that’s outside of the equilibrium of supply and demand. Less units sold at a much higher price is worse than a lot more units sold at a reasonable price. It’s going to hurt business for the sake of giving more money to the government which is somehow okay with republicans even though they claim to be against big government. Just like how conservatives are against a tax break right now even though the guy’s slogan is axe the tax in our country. Hypocrisy doesn’t bother some people I guess. I really wish stupid politicians like Trump would stop trying to break everything and maybe stop treating their closest allies like Canada worse than their biggest enemy (Russia).
You know this are bad when Linus makes a video on said tariffs, but I’m glad he did so people can fully see how these work and what will happen in the future to us consumers.
linus, i have to straight call you out. tbh.. idk why im caring because you’ve been and have done some shady stuff in the past few years anyways. so, linus very well knows that specifically taiwan where these chips are made is not going to have a tariff increase. he is using this to cause a panic buy because if you all do some research many pc companies stock piled the 40 series, specifically nzxt which linus has business with.
what linus is worried about is he won’t be able to offload all his current stock before tariffs hit CANADA, so basically we will be able to buy a 50 series in the usa for the same price his last gen 40’s will have to sell to make a profit.
this guy is one shady hombre.
I think that ‘enjoy’ war thunder is a bit far especially from someone who has roughly 200 hours in it
I love how they very discretely criticized the implementation of totalitarian policies into hypercapitalism.
And yes, that is not political, it is logical 🫶🏼
Most trumpets does not understand tarifs… its so funny
Anyone that argues that tariffs will bring manufacturing jobs is a fool.
It's alright boys, NZXT says you don't need to worry about Tariffs, they can get you a top of the range PC for only $120 a month. 😂
USA doesn’t need Tariffs to they could just adVance (get it) against China’s UN Developing Economies Status that allows measures that include the United Postal Union to get subsidies for outbound freight. Last time Trump was in he argued through the global system “Navarro said that the current system meant the US Postal Service was in effect spending $300m to $500m to subsidise the cost of delivering imports, including goods mailed to the United States from China.
“China is certainly going to pay more for the privilege of shipping to our market,” he said.” it will be inter now what awaits
are tarrifs affecting taiwan aswell? why would TSMC production of GPUs and other chips be hit?
taiwan, is not getting tariffs. WHAT are you all going on about 😂
wait okay so MAYBE if china takes over taiwan, maybe then. otherwise, ill reiterate, WHAT are you all talking about 😂
this is specifically being used on certain situations, not across the board.
Built my rig in 2018, tried to upgrade in 2020, got a new GPU in 2023…so, it's time to upgrade.
I just need to get my hands on a 9800X3D. The supplyshock over there is real. xD
This was a great educational video and super well explained!
From spending (way too much?) time on Nostr, a social media platform frequented by -coiners (bitcoin, shitcoin, whateveryounameitcoin) and stuff, the activity there has grown a lot recently due to Bitcoin's increase. So, tokens on Layer 2 or 3 might start booming again soon. Beware!
The American unemployment rate might be low but then they employ people to pick up shopping carts from parking lots which is a prime example of a completely unnecessary job
I try to make my PCs last a decade and buy a new GPU at the 5 year mark.
I got my current 5950x / RTX 3080 build towards the end of 2020, so I should in theory be considering a GPU upgrade soon.
Thing is I'm not really motivated to with the current quality of games on PC. Poor optimisation, shader compilation stutter are far too common for my liking.
0:29 you guy are in Canada. What do you care about the US tarifs? Im sitting pretty in Asia, the source of all electronics 🙂
I love the content; thank you so much. But that low-end Hum is still there in the open studio, like an air conditioner or big fan or something. Waves have a stunning cheap option that could help with that. Clarity™ Vx, check it out. Or izotope RX11, a better plugin but pricy Just a thought.
jesus fking christ enough with the orange man bad doom upon us all
Wow stay in your lane. You really need to do more research on the tariff last time. Its a power play. give and take
Darn Tough socks really are the greatest
i WOULD NOT buy a computer that comes with copilot, i caught my system siphoning off 60% of my 6gig per sec networking speeds, IN THE BACKGROUND, deleted copilot and ended that process , and im back to normal. i do not need microsoft trying to tap into potential patent ideas i have. or my camera or microphone. they can take a long walk off a short pier. id advise using old software and never updating to new tech that steals data.
amazing video ❤
@9:47 Are they going to be paying a "premium" though? You forget there is going to be 50%+ tariffs on a lot of things so American made might actually be cheaper. All I hear is wah wah wah, I can profit off of cheap borderline slave labour and support another countries economy instead of my own. Get politics out of your tech channel.
I’m on a 10 year cycle rocking my KabyLake still hahaha
Waiting for next gen is dumb. There always will be next gen or next release around the corner so by that logic you won't buy anything.
Budget and build right now and in worst case you can sell or return the current part and buy new one if you really want to, but my guess is that if you are not going to miss the performance boost that comes with next gen products. Last few years shown that there is always price increase for new gen.
EDIT: Comparing physical chip size on GPU is stupid way to measure things. By using smaller manufacturing process you already make the chip faster and lot more efficient because the signal has to travel shorter distance and it will generate less heat but that also means the whole unit will be smaller. So in theory you are not paying more for less but you are paying more for perfected version. Sure same chip size would be nice but then it depends on what kind of actual gains and how much it costs to manufacture same size of chip on the smaller manufacturing process.
Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that when seeing the title I was afraid it would be yet another build guide or whatever but I clicked because I always do for LTT videos and in the end I really enjoyed the video!
What I'm saying is: maybe a more descriptive title would be better here, something mentioning the terriffs.
My 980 and 6700k are still going strong… tho a little hot
