Sure, TVs and Monitors have gotten brighter, but NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH! That’s why we embarked on a journey to see how many NITs we can hit, how many lumens we can summon, and use HIGH POWER LEDS to make a display so painfully bright, we are putting ourselves at risk every time we use it. We were too concerned if we COULD make the brightest Monitor in History, that we forgot to ask if we SHOULD.

here's a idea don't know if this will work but you can place to acrylic sheets between the display and lights and cycle water between the the acrylic sheets it might help in keeping it cool just thinking don't know if this would work
yooo guys guys the cool thing would be to bring in matt from diy perks to the next part of the video that'd be freeking cool
LTT is just doing side quests at this point
Peak LTT
Look at DIY perks dual LCD above each other. It should have the power to dim this light enough and create extremely high contrast
It would be awesome with the brightest backlight possible
This has eye burn in instead of screen burn in
I know there's a "everyone is different" thing, and this is an over the top thing, but if every gaming monitor goes 5000nits the kids are doomed.
I failed to see through if Linus' reactions are /s or not. I hope they are /s.
FYI, going 600nits (HDR mode) / 400nits (SDR mode 100% brightness) on my main monitor is enough to cause me a lot of eyesore, dark room or not.
I made a flashlamp out of 1x 200W module similar to those.
I tried to create the GameGirl, it just didn't catch on.
Needs to be more jank
This reminds me of when I got my 1k nit mini led monitor, like holy crap the sun was so bright in metro exodus it was beautiful. But I'm still returning it and have an oled otw because it's got 380 or so dimming zones which is my fault for not researching before buying it.
Our man linus risking retinal detachment for science. 💪
10:20 He's giving Hector Salamanca
I always bring brightness of my monitors to around 10-35%. It's too bright for me and this is how it was for me since ages. I truly don't understand why anyone would want to use monitor on a higher brightness percentage. That causes eye strain and fatigue pretty quickly and is just uncomfortable. Nobody really needs "dark mode" in their OS. You just need to bring that insane brightness level down.
Accidentally turning on light mode be like.
now I am wondering if you have multiple polerized layers synced, you should gain amazing contrast on this! you may lose some light but hey that's what you have plenty of….
One could say that Linus saw the light
CRT Vibes when watchinf it at 2AM
😮🤯
Now make us a monitor that is a quadrillion nits. You've already gone big, now go REALLY big.
Why the cameramen didnt do a shot exposing to the screen? So we could actually see how bad the contrast ratio is?
So..can you get a sunburn? 😂
Linus we are way behind in screen resoluiton, we haven't had an upgrade for more than 20 years. 5k and 8k are barely here, those resolutions should be ubiquitous. And 8k should be the standard now assuming 16:9 (ew). Especially considering 8k covers low, mid, and high range GPUs in gaming.
The brightness thing is stupid, as your actions show you agree. You did as I have been saying people would do for years, put on sun glasses. Displays should not be aiming to be as bright as the real world, the aim should be to produce physically accurate image without the eyes needing to make large adjustments. What is needed is an increase is color depth and a proper, that is phyically accuarte tone mapper, which is actually eye adaptation simulation for large brightness changes.
Comfortable viewing > Pain and frustration. LOL
Bring back 8:5! Or make 5:3 displays.
14:01 you know its good when Linus saliva flies everywhere
Oled Burn in ?
Oled gonna burn in your eyes
I so want to see part 2 where they cool it
21:20: why does linus sounds like a robot???
Would a QD LCD be able to help overcome the brightness for the benefit of contrast?
its so bright, you can see the dude in charge to clean the lens's didnt do a good job lol. you should pay him more guys..
Sun is up to 10k lumens, here you have only 3k and it is before LCD layer. So it is only about 1/10 of real world
I love linus' yap session
Day 4 of asking a free gaming pc from linus
I love how Linus is talking like a proud a dad 🤣
If you try this again, put one lcd on top of another, hopefully you also get way better contrast as well
Discord light mode be like:
The talk of high bright is real life reminds me of a conversation I often jokingly have with my wife about if real life is 1080p or 4K?
You have gotta do the see jesus optical illusion on there.
I don't think I've ever seen Linus on one until now.
