  2. I've got a Auros 3090 Extreme. 4000 and 5000 series isn't worth it to me (yet). I can't justify the price of these cards anymore. Hardware Unboxed, you guys and Jayz2cents all convinced me from upgrading to a 5000 series.

I'm not sure if youtube metrics show it but I also jump around videos often to see stuff I'm interested in.

  3. Have you thought about doing two separate videos, one short high energy video with no graphs and minimal tech jargon, and a separate long one that really digs into the graphs and the tech?

  4. If facebook marketplace could solve $1 listings somehow. I’d maybe get sucked into their app more… even then prolly not 😂

  5. i just bought a 3090 for those reasons

  6. 8 topics totaling 1 hour and 9 minutes give or take this week… and the ratio worsens…

  7. The people buying these gpus are obviously not interested in price to performance. That said I didn't bother watching any 5090 reviews because it is way out of my price range.

  8. I was one of the people that watched the 5090 video. Based on the AI features. I wanted a deep review for it and the video did that. People who are just going to buy it. Just want a quick take and not think about it.

I was considering the upgrade to the 5080. But, both videos are making me hold on to the 3070 and wait for the 60 series.

  9. I watched the full video on the evening yay!!!

  10. 20:46 easiest way to block scraper bots is to serve a captcha to every request from a cloud asn (e.g. Google, AWS, alibaba) with a non-bot user agent. takes a few seconds to set up in cloudflare, and won't be easily circumvented. The key idea is that bots and humans tend to have very different asns. The downside is that vpn users have more captchas, but that's usually a very small amount of traffic and with cloudflare once you pass the captcha you are fine anyway.

  11. Its cute that Luke and Linus think they are right that "Cloud" is going back to "on premise" The huge players are still in the process of merging to the cloud. Storage is only expensive if you are a hoarder and especially if you are hoarding on hot SSDs.

  12. i trust the chinese government a thousand times over the americans. why are y'all so afraid of china? do y'all not see the U.S government is the most corrupt government in the world? china has been nothing but based it's entire existence.

  13. The issue I have is that a skipped the 40 series, and as I play AAA games I feel I’m forced to buy a 50 series to get a good FPS

  14. i got scaping bots even on my damn tumblr page lmao

  15. Still waiting to upgrade my 1080ti without feeling like I'm being scammed

  16. Would love to start seeing Linux Gaming benchmarks, but I know it is just kind of getting good. GTA 4 is shockingly good on Linux..

  17. For the RTX 5090 review, I watched the whole thing (great video) and felt like it would have benefitted from fewer hosts. The amount of people presenting lowers the perceived cohesion of the story, for me at least.

  18. if you live in the EU or Australia companies are less likely to weasel out of warranty

  19. Hot take, I am fine with people scalping cards (especially if it's just one). If you get one and resell it for a profit, good on you for fleecing some rich idiot out of their money. I am not fond of people making a business out of it, but if the market exists for it then I can't really complain because again…if someone is dumb enough to buy it, take advantage of it. During the pandemic it was sleazy, but we don't exactly have a huge shortage of options these days so I don't mind.

  20. 56:00 Regarding old games still being fun – Only a few years ago I've played Daggerfall for the very first time, in its original DOS version, too. That game is dope. I actually had a great time, it's so different from modern games and has quite a lot of depth. There's no hand-holding either, it lets you mess up completely and then it essentially goes "Yeah, you effed up, all hope is lost. You can stay in this doomed universe, load a save or start over." Which, when looking at it from a modern perspective, is a wild thing to do. Part of me wishes that BGS still made games that are as… "raw" as Daggerfall. Maybe not with the hard time-limit, but allowing the player to actually mess up, letting their choices (and mistakes) have an actual impact on the game is S-Tier.

  21. 1:00:15 – Garmin is making smartwatches with physical buttons and great battery life. My Forerunner 955 solar gives me up to 20 days of battery life.

  22. Nvidia should launch the cards at 10x the price and offer a 90% discount if you can prove you are a human.

  23. For me to afford a 5090 here in Australia, I would probably have sell all my organs, considering the cheapest one here is twice the price of the cheapest one in the US.

  24. Yes what you do does matter.
The cards were going to sell out anyway since there weere like 10 of them out there and there´s enough people that have a good enough reason to upgrade anyway, or scalp them.
I was originaly gonna buy 2 RTX 5080, one for my office PC that I used to play most of my games at (mostly shooters now) and one for my livingroom pc that I now use more often for games on the couch and also simracing on a 4k 144Hz TV. Unfortunately my 3070TI FE is not strong enough to display a lot of those games at 4k 144Hz and the FE also gets very loud and hits 90°C.
I was going to also replace the 3080 in my offcice PC since its also not quite enough for all the games I want to paly on it on the 1440p 240Hz Monitor i use in my office.
But after learning about the performance and the increased prices (RTX 3080 720€, 4080 mostly around 1100€ and now the RTX 5080 TUF that I got was 1470€ in germany) i decided to only replace the 3070TI in my livingroom PC. Before i expected the 5080 to be at least on par with 4090 and be able to get it at 1000€. Both didnt happen so I´m only buying one.
The 3070TI really really annoys me so I´m really looking forward to getting rid of it, as long as the 5080 TUF fits in my rack mount case.

  25. Hear me out. Most gamers don't have a 40 series gpu, hell, a lot of them don't have a 30 series. When you compare a 4080 to a 5080 that tells that group nothing. They want to know the performance gain they'll get from there 2080 or 3080. I for one bought a 4080 cuz I had a 1080 for 6 years and it was starting to chug. Out of my entire group of gaming friends, 2 of them use gaming laptops exclusively and have no idea what the real difference between gpus is, they just want to turn on the laptop and have it work. I can imagine that's the same to a lot of prebuilt users. I consistently communicate with 5ish gaming friends, 2 of them have built their PC and 1 of them has a 40series, upgraded from 2060 to 4070. Other one has a 3080 and was hoping the 5080 was better, but will still probably buy it because if he can get it near msrp in the next year, it'll be better and cheaper than the 4080.

  26. My issue with these is generally the message that many youtubers are maybe unknowingly passing onto the pc users out there. Not everyone is going from a 4080 to a 5080 yet almost all qualifications on if the 5080 is good buy is in comparison to 4080. An example is a guy posted on Facebook his new 5080, excited to finally upgrade from 780ti. The comments are literally full of people telling him he's an idiot buying a 5080, should have got a 4090 or 4080…… To clarify the 5080 here in Australia actually sold at Msrp $2019, that's the price of a 4080 super here.

  27. 10:00 Don't forget, a lot of us watch the whole video just because we like the channel and yous guys in general. I watched the part of the video about Ai rendering, doesn't mean I care about that, I probably would have turned the video off if I had anything better to do after seeing the card was kind of meh without BS gimmicks to boost the fps. Please pass these numbers along to AMD so they can stop chasing Nvidia's Ai shit and go back to pure rasterization performance, I guarantee they will crush it!

  28. Absolutely. I seek your advice on tech purchases *all the time*. Dunno if that’s what you meant, but your channel matters to me.

  29. You guys must make a video on how to run this locally and what you can do with it. Look at what is cheaper GPU or CPU for this. Look at some of the cooler forks. This would be a GREAT time for THAT video to come out. I am sure that Dan could help with that.

  30. Skip to 42:17 If you would like to hear Luke telling about how his first ,and public, sexual experience

  31. 4:50 given enough small quantities you can charge any price for anything. If they made 5 RTX 5090 worldwide they could probably charge 200.000$ for it, that doesn’t mean you could find 100.000 people paying that price. Companies understand WTP curves and the argument that scalping will confirm they can get away with higher prices is bad. It’s also clear that they tried to move lots of 4080 at 1300$ and then came down to 1000$ with the 4080S because they would not move the quantities at the 1300$ price point. No sane company would take scalping prices more than an indication of interest and not as a validation of the average WTP from the market.

  32. It's fun to go back and think about the old games, expectations, disappointments and enjoyment.. back in the early 80's the hype for Space Invaders and the evolutions which came from that – Galaxians, Galaga, Phoenix, Gorf.. all the times spent in the arcade with the likes of Pacman, Asteroids, Centipede, Defender, Missile Command, Battlezone, Tempest, Zaxxon, Track & Field, Return of the Jedi, the sit down bass-heavy experience of Star Wars, weird interactive things like Dragon's Lair appeared.. all the time the home console tried to a greater or letter degree to match or replicate.. Consoles committed fully to variations of Pong, cartridge based consoles like ATARI 2600, the seemingly almost always superior looking COLECOVISION and VECTREX.. LCD Game & watch handhelds, digital watches, calculator and phone number database watches, wristwatch gaming, through Gameboy to Steamdeck.. We Gen X'ers were slap bang in the middle of the ripe fruits of the boomer efforts, and are lucky enough to have seen and lived a LOT of tech.

  33. I managed to buy a 5090 for me. I did it because I want the card. But if someone will pay even 40% more than I paid, I will sell it in a heartbeat.

  34. Great ending!

  35. The Windows calculator has a finance mode with currency conversion. No need to go to an ad infested site

  36. Holy sh*t, we're not talking about GN this week! Woo!

  37. We had 30 year old textbooks, some held together with duct tape….but the football team had brand new helmets every other year.
…..Also explains the education priorities leading to the Orange Jesus cult.

  38. For the retention segment I wasn’t planning on buying this gen any way and by the time I got to 4K raster part right at the drop off point I figured for now at least I have heard enough, if my financial situation changes I will rewatch the rest of the video. My 3080ti still works absolutely fine for what I do with it

  39. i stoped the 5090 video because i don't like the bearded blond guy

  40. Feeling pretty good I got my $1499 3090 through hunting against bots on BestBuy

  41. When chatgpt released I said online : something like this will run on local hardware within 10 years.
And people said I was crazy, and that it didn't work like that. Who's laughing now?

  42. Mrwhostheboss video on the 5090 tells the story that is interesting, charts are not. I google charts and watch a video for the story and an overall feel of things.
