I cut back on my Amazon purchases after these types of scams made it kinda worthless to try new alternate brands. Sucks cause Amazon used to have high quality unbranded/ lesser known brands that costed half as much as name brands, but after getting a couple of overpriced, crappy chinese brand items in a row a couple of years ago, I just started buying name brand things locally or from AliExpress myself, since that's all Amazon is now.
Recently Amazon has been cracking down on "return abuse" too, but when you order something like these wifi extenders that just don't work or breaks within a week, of course I'm going to return it.
Took some getting used to but my household has gone from spending over 10k per year on Amazon from 2018-2022 to $400 in all of 2025 so far, and i feel better off for it. Not worth the headache of figuring out what's real and dealing with their AI bots fighting over an unissued refund of $12 while Bezos has himself a 600 million dollar wedding.
