Sweet intro. Did it make them may be late?
Regarding the hypercar discussion. Buy a car like that, and keep the miles low and not drive it. It`s like not sleeping with your girlfriend to save her for the next guy.
The April Fool’s joke is Terren had to have signed off on this
Demonstrating that ability to have patience and wait for the console to come in stock is a brillant example of patience to show everyone, good on you Luke for being a good example to the rest of us!!
one simple solution to TV with ads is to never connect it to the internet
Nice intro
I'm sorry, I know that as a woman in the audience I'm in a minority… but this is downright discrimination. How am I supposed to concentrate on tech news when Luke is dressed as a firefighter??!! My god people have you no consideration!
(/s – am bi and non-binary, am sure there are many male and nb people equally distracted by Luke today

21:00 Linus is making an interesting point here. Back in the day you could actually share consoles. And I guess with some games on switch that's still the case. But couch coop nowadays is basically dead. There hasn't been a new halo game in the last decade (!!!) that supports split screen. So if four people want to play halo, they have to spend ~2500€ (or the currency of your choice) to buy a console for everyone. And halo infinite is free, imagine everyone having to spend another 90€ on the game!
There are a few switch games with online play that dont require the nintendo sub. The big one is fortnite
I don't like the whole comparison to game prices in the 90s… There is of course the argument that the market is completely different now, but mostly I think it's unfair that people that use this argument always only look at the prices of console games. There were other computers then too and games for those were way cheaper. I checked prices for Commodore 64 games a while ago and depending on when in its lifetime you look, corrected for inflation, prices were lower to way lower there compared to before the recent price hike even.
I also feel there is a pretty obvious flaw in your napkin math of 1 hour a week using a switch… You started out with 10 games, but using a switch for 1 hour a week for 8 years with only 10 games comes out to 292 hours spent per game. You might get there with Mario Kart if you're really into it, but most people will not reach those numbers even there. So if you are really consistently playing your switch for that long (also assuming it lives for that long) you'll likely buy way more games throwing off your calculation.
The price of the console of course does become much less of a factor if you look at it like this, but to play that much (365 hours a year) I think you're more likely to buy 5-10 games every year, not total over 8 years.
Sure, we used to play like that when we were kids (I'm one of the last gen-x, slightly older than you), but that was out of necessity. Most people are not going to just play the same game over and over because there's nothing better to do. Even if you can't afford more games, there's so much more entertainment available now.
And it's not okay to look at this in a vacuum either. For the price of a switch 2 you can get a steam deck. Now okay, that has it's own issues with new releases, but the games are going to be way cheaper.
And finally, I play much more than one hour a week… But I have multiple platforms. It's not about how much will I play, how much will I play on the switch 2 specifically? There are a couple games I'd really like to play, like MKW, ToTK… But multiplatform games are still going to be better elsewhere. And I'm not a massive Nintendo fan that gets every one of their games (for instance I didn't even finish mario Odyssey, it's just not really my thing). If it was 350, 400 with MKW, I think I would have jumped in. But at 500 and the prospect of games being even more expensive than they already were for switch (because they barely come down in price so my usual patient gamer routine does nothing here)… No, it just doesn't make sense.
For someone who is looking at this as their only platform, or someone who really loves every game Nintendo makes, I get it. But as a secondary platform? No, it's too expensive.
38:51 man I must be getting too cynical because my bet for these upgrade packs is going to be 35-40 USD, especially if they are doing "remastering" style work as in hand touching up textures and manually adjusting things for each game so they run better.
Can we get a T-shirt with a caricature of Dan with a text balloon saying I'm over it?
Colton should have been sitting in the firetruck too and waiting for a fire… Come on, what a missed chance!
Where did you get the fire truck from?!?!
Fuck America… Sounds like a great song for South Park to create to parody Blame Canada.
Speaking of entertainment prices and libraries. Swedish libraries have games as well. Maybe your local libraries have too?
26:02
Well, at this point you could buy a steam deck. It's a full blown computer, you can work on it, back up your savegames for free, your entire PC library (99% of it anyways on linux) stays accessible indefinitely.
Talking Nintendo in a Wii U I see
All I wanna know is why LG Gram stopped sponsoring them since a few weeks ago…
In our German small town library, we can rent Switch and PS4/5 games as well as the consoles for 2€ per week. So game rental is still a thing in some parts of the world.
The fire truck is real but when looked at from the front with them in their it looks like a filter!!
As an extension of the LG losing google assistant and whether you should get compensation because it is no longer the product you bought; Should games like New World, which has changed drastically since launch and no longer the game it was, warrant compensation or allow for people to get refunds?
Linus talking for half an hour why greed is perfectly fine, is extremely tiring…
