Back when I was doing CISCO networking at school (decades ago) we had Farconics Deep Freeze. Multi-user desktop stations, each controlled by a master image. Wiped on reboot. This was actually how I found out portable apps were a thing, since nothing wold stay installed after class was over.
Software developer… Why am I not surprised about not caring about the hardware and organization… There are too many devs I've run across who don't even think about hardware.

I would love to rip into how gluttonous this is, but I'm a single man working retail and, thanks to being god-tier at personal budgeting and finding great gaming deals/selling old gaming on eBay, I have:
RX7700 XT gaming PC, Xbox Series X, PS5, Switch Lite, Quest 3, and OLED Steam Deck with a hundred games spread out between all of these systems.
This happened in the past decade. The previous twenty years I never had more than a PC and one console with several games at most at a time.
It's WAY too much, but every time I come close to getting my gaming library under control, I run across a killer deal and I can't help myself.

Hmmm, doesn't the 10GbE also limit the drive speeds? NVME SSD's can easily do 7,000 MB/s, whereas the throughput of 10 GbE is ~1250MB/s, unless I'm totally wrong.
