Noctua is going pump-free. Their prototype Thermosiphon cooler uses boiling coolant and physics to deliver liquid cooling with zero moving parts, and it might finally be ready for prime time. Linus takes a deep dive into how it works, why it’s been so hard to get right, and what’s changed this time around. Plus, a look at Noctua’s first AIO cooler, upgraded fans, and all the wild third-party collabs they brought to Computex.

  1. Correction
    1:56 – Linus, and the on-screen text, say "Ryzen 9 9800X3D." We meant Ryzen 7!

  2. …but no screwdriver?

  3. 1:35 finally the good ol' intro we've been missing is here! 😌

  4. Noctua mouse, lmao

  5. My dad is in the business of industrial pumps. He's been in the industry for 40 years now, he's seen some shit. Literally, as his specialty is the waste water pumps (one of the hidden things keeping our civilization from falling apart). He's still amazed at the fact that people do not understand that pumps are expensive "wear parts". Meaning they're more like vehicle tires than mere motors. They need to be maintained carefully and replaced when it's time.

    I think the PC industry would greatly benefit from applying the "car tire" logic when it comes to pumps.

  6. You, Linus have made several videos on IceGiant Prosiphon Elite thermosiphon coolers.

  7. Bro 2 Sponsor In One Video Or i Say 3

    1= Corsair
    2=Noctua
    3=MICRO CENter

  8. Noctua = Colling In Everything

    Even Mouse……

  9. Wo0oW

  10. Phase change is such a powerful mechanism for heat manipulation. Like, if you can create a mixture whose freezing point is above 0 degrees, then you can create an ice pack that won't freeze cells in the body – allowing it to be applied directly, for the most effective cooling. (Incidentally, that's what I've done with my cooler vests. It's nice for hot days out in the sun as a technician.)
    This is because it takes energy (heat) to change from solid to liquid and liquid to gas, and back. So, even though you are continuing to boil water, it will never pass 100 degrees (until it's steam, then it will absolutely go past that), you'll just boil it off.

  11. That "almost 20 years" about something from 2008 hurt my feelings…

  12. You should have your eyes checked, your right iris looks a bit strange.

  13. like the refrigerator principle

  14. Noctua Booth is like those fancy restaurant…
    if you need to ask about the price, you cant/ can barely afford it.

  15. noctua looks very gimmiky these days…..

  16. noctua brown is truly the new black/rgb

  17. The no look fan stop was SMOOTH, Linus. i see you

  18. Micro Center is life…

  19. Laminar flow should solve the bubble issue 😊

  20. Linus looks younger

  21. I'd actually consider getting this over an air cooler if it's priced competitively and has proven longevity. AIO pump failures are a huge deterrent for adoption for those who don't routinely upgrade.

  22. Love me some noctua

  23. Good to see a company from Austria is showing it and not another China bomb.

  24. again the vocal range mix is so punchy it hurts the ears. have to watch at 20%. can someone confirm?

  25. Yea that thermosiphon will never release 😂😂

    Its a pointless product whose only appeal is nerdy niche. Like a Cathode Ray-tube watch. It performs worse than a pump aio so it’s never gonna have wide appeal.

  26. Is that a 5 slot gpu‽

  27. Why is this channel the only one with a variety of good, interesting sponsors?

  28. Why is the Noctua AIO black instead of brown? So wrong.

  29. say the real reason, because manufacturers have to pay asetek a patent premium for the pump!!!

  30. 9:36 where noctua screwdriver?

  31. Cooling a 7800X3D is not exactly impressive. Show me that thing cooling a high-end Intel CPU running a CPU-intensive process, and we'll talk.

  32. Now replace the liquid with NITROGEN

  33. Honestly I wouldn't be mad if it turned out that you still need a pump for optimal performance with phase change cooling. The advantage would be that if the pump breaks down, your CPU doesn't go up in flames, it might just lose a few percent performance until you fixed your cooler.

  34. Since when does Linus have a YouTube ad?

  35. If Ford could figure this out over 100 years ago, you'd think high tech manufacturers could do it now (The original Model T had no pump or thermostat, and was a thermosyphon system)

  36. everytime i heaer noctua i recall hawk tuah

  37. fan in a mouse?

  38. The reason for the asetek partnership is that they hold the patent/trademark for all the core tech of an AIO and pump system and actively sue anyone that tries to make one without them. Fortunately, that legal protection ends this year, so should finally start seeing improved aio features

  39. isnt the ice giant a thermosiphon without a pump??

  40. if anyone can do it, noctua can. they REALLY understand the concept of iteration, testing, refinement and implementing. when this drops i will be one of the first to but this for sure.

    fantastic breakdown of the pros and cons of this emergent tech dude

  41. however many likes this gets is the budget linus has to build me a gaming pc

  42. every videos in is channel has now become 3/4 members only. you already have 16 mil subscribers bro…. fuck this. unsubbing
