We spent two months living the Mac life, and it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. The hardware impressed us, and some of the features were genuinely great, but clunky UI quirks, frustrating compatibility problems, and unreliable Wi-Fi on a $10,000 Mac Pro reminded us that macOS still has its issues. We break down what worked, what didn’t, and why at least one of us hasn’t switched back.

  1. Screenshot sharing on mac is just pressing cmd+c when you’ve just opened the screenshot and cmd+v in teams or discord when typing (at least for me), the share menu gets ignored 99/100 times

  2. You can actually zoom with the "use scroll gesture with modifier keys to zoom" – to zoom with a mouse on the mac

  3. 13.00 oh this is a big deal. If you have JIRA with all it's macros in one window and you try to do something simple like create a new folder in VSCode you'll end up unassigning tickets from people.

  4. When I lift the lid on my M1 MacBook Pro, put my air pods in and it connects in 1 second, then press play on one of my streaming apps and it continues so quickly from where i left off, it does, just work. It is annoying to do anything more vs Windows but when you set it up right it can be easy to use imo.

  5. Would have been interested for you to try Crossover for windows apps you needed – wonder how well it would have worked.

  6. This sums up my experience really well. I hate MacOS, but you'll have to pry it away from my cold dead hands

  7. Stretching a bit on the Mac screenshots.

It’s so much better than windows. I found it performant and not at all buggy unlike the windows version.

The keyboard shortcut issues is just from not being used to Mac. Use one for a while and cmd + shift + other keys becomes natural and part of the experience.

The sharing issue is just dumb. Cmd+V and you can paste your screenshot into teams.

  8. I LOVE mine, had an all in one iMac in 2012 didn’t really understand the operating system. Now I’m learning via YouTubers like you and find everything superior from looks, build quality (All aluminum, display) is awesome ❤

  9. 5:15 LOL ChaseTheBro mentioned, that's my good friend 🙂

  10. The more years is passing, the more you appreciate the fact that is just works. If you just need a phone and a laptop with great battery life, it works…

  11. 3:49 add Ctrl to this combination (Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+4) and it will just save the screenshot to your clipboard

  12. I love Apple hardware. I cannot stand their software. I have multiple Mac minis and iMacs at home, all running Linux. The day Apple silicon can reliably run a mainstream Linux distro is the day I'll upgrade. Until then, Intel Macs will be my PC of choice.

  13. if it wasn't for steam gaming / modding. I wouldn't be on widonws…

  14. The reason why macbooks boot into the OS fairly quickly is because apples ARM-Based architecture doesnt have all this legacy stuff that x86 carries. Now i am not sure why the mac over expensive desktop thingy magigy takes so long, but it probably a issue in apples implementation of the boot system. But i have no clue why thats happening.

  15. Mac performance is good, consistent, noise free, low maintenance. Thats everything windows isnt. Thats why i have switched to mac long ago.

  16. 15:22 Alva Majo reference

  17. Alex did what part is the thing I hear a lot as an argument why people switch..

  18. I mean, because Apple have a lot less blue screen, and doesn’t force / annoyed you to update your OS is already a win TBH

  19. You can select 'save to clipboard' option to avoid screenshots being saved on desktop. But yes I wish they gave some prompt for me to select whether I wish to copy to clipboard OR edit & copy to clipboard OR edit & save.

  20. 20:45 This is what people mean when they say “it just works”—it’s not about the interface, it’s about not having to worry about low-level software minutiae.

I own a custom PC, a MacBook Pro, and a Thinkpad. In the past 4 months I’ve had weird NVIDIA driver bugs on my desktop and a BSOD on my Thinkpad in the middle of a college exam. In 13 years of using macOS I’ve never had my OS crash, or had to think about anything lower-level than a software update to simply use my machine.

  21. I think what you get used to. I don’t like windows but was a window user. But if I went back I’d get used to it. I do get less hassle from family if macs iPhone Apple TV iPad watch in house. Windows I has how do I do that and do this and that. It just works …. But I was a windows and dos 😂 user for years , but it just easier for us. It’s nice to have options for people to choose best for them. Yourso wrong about MagSafe saved many macs over last 15 years

  22. 2:10 Shhhh. You can't say the M word.

  23. Professional Electronics Nitpicker In Studio, or in short…

  24. 20:55 Jake's face 😁

  25. I have a trackpad at my left hand and my Logitech trackball at my right as the primary mouse. Might seem silly, but I love having the combination. No mouse even on windows with all the proper support for its buttons etc is as good an experience for gesture navigation as a trackpad on the Mac. I have the Logitech options software so I can make sure all the mouse functionality works, but that just doesn’t even come close to the trackpad functionality. I have a couple of Bluetooth magic trackpads from when I used an iMac, so doesn’t matter where my laptop sits at my desk. I find windows annoying to use with the same Logitech mouse but no trackpad with the same gesture navigation. Good thing I really only use my pc for gaming.
