Love your vids, tho I would love to see a comparison to 1440p as well not just 1080p and 4k because that’s what I (and probably many) use.
my whole setup costs less than a 5090, considering it's all white colour coordinated with a 9070xt and an x870 board.. with a 240hz 1440p monitor

Monitor really is the way to go. When up at my parents I just shove an old laptop with 1060 into a 4k monitor and genuinely think "this is more than alright" every time.

5090 is readily available under MSRP in Sweden. It launched at 27990 and I’ve seen it in stock for 25990. That is still about 2500 bucks but it includes 25% tax so it’s more like 2000 USD before tax. Still too much for me but many cards are under MSRP here now. 5070 is 6690 (about 530 bucks before tax) while it launched for 7759.
People playing Returnal in 2025? There is literally maybe a dozen of us! And Linus! It's a great game though.
Then there is the garbage optimization of today's games which require tomorrow's performance to run decently today but with yesterday's graphics.
Atleast when Crysis did this back in the day, the extra bump in fidelity was noticeable
My biggest miss-buy for my gaming PC was going dual 4k when i upgraded from my 2080 to my 3090. 1440p is the way to go.
My 5080 can do 4k, but the sheer performance i leave on the floor, because my 27" is 4k…. i wouldnt do that again.
If these monitors break someday, the new ones will be 1440p again, but i want to stay on decent HDR and high refresh rate, been spoiled like that now.
I use a 5700x3d and 7900 XT. I get over 100 fps in cyberpunk at 1440p and that's plenty for me.
You could create an average LTT viewer PC. I would find that interesting.

Idk why its not explicitely mentioned but the 9070xt beating the 5090 in this pc clearly stems from nvidias driver overhead. Overall their drivers require the cpu to work harder, meaning in cpu bottlenecked situations nvidia often performs slightly worse.
I see people doing this mistake all the time. They buy high-end cards and then complain about the performance with their i3/i5 or older AMD 16 GB DDR4 system….
It's stupid that so many games need a 9800x3d for 60fps these days
Meanwhile, Aymdiots think that going from the same glorified low-end 6c or last gen GPU to a new one of hte same tier, will warrant 70%+ boost.
