What if you couldn’t trust any review on the internet? What if EVERYONE was being controlled by the companies that make those products? WELL that might be what is happening… YouTube Channel HouseFresh is facing legal backlash over publishing an honest review for the PuroAir 240 Hepa 14 unit. Does PuroAir have a case? Or is this just corporate bullying?

  1. Whether you need a wedding ring, anniversary ring, or you just want a ring that looks awesome, head over to https://www.thorum.com and code LTT to get 20% off a truly unique ring

  2. i have nothing to say here really but this video need to get pushed

  3. Ok, given that Google is playing games with review sites. What search engines don't do this?

  4. I actually wanted to buy an airpurifier so its nice to find a good reviewer thank you!

  5. This is why everything I've bought after 2016 is either some random Chinese brand that'll stop existing in a month, or by some amazingly well known premium company like samsung

  6. The fight scene tickled me lol.

  7. I had never heard the word "listicle" before. I actually learned about the whole phenomenon by myself, first paying attention to how there is a huge amount of review articles about all kinds of products that one wouldn't expect to be reviewed by so many testers (instead of just buyer reviews). Then I noticed that those "reviews" don't present any actual tests that led to their conclusions. I realized that what I've been reading are pure advertisements. I find the dishonesty and cynicism of the whole phenomenon depressing. This video added nicely to what I had learned myself, and made the whole picture more clear to me.

I'm worried, because most consumers probably aren't at all aware of this phenomenon. They read "reviews" and understandably think that by doing so they have bypassed the facade of advertising and become armed with some real information to make wise buying decisions. More educations is sorely needed, and I think Linus Tech Tips did great work on it with this video.

  8. "still reached out to PuroAir… as they should" my man seriously made the beef with GamersNexus his whole personality didnt he?

  9. Shame on Pure Air. Hope people boycott them

  10. Consumer Advocacy Tips, aka CAT.

  11. To find negative product info you MUST search using negative framing. I discovered this is essential with a range of recent investigations for large brands where entire forums of criticism ONLY showed up when I began using specific negative terms instead of “Asus strix review”. It was a night and day difference in presented data.

  12. 3:01 comments and dislikes coming from Russia are double-suspicious as YouTube doesn't even work properly there without a VPN. Even Russian-speaking channels get most of the traffic from "abroad" now because of this. So if there's a bot-net there, it somehow has an unrestricted access, which not just anyone can get.

  13. so you are making pure air the victim, pathetic!!

  14. This is important

  15. That filter looksblike it weighs like 100 grams

  16. Linus Legal Tips

  17. Athletic Greens and Huberman are a massive example of shilling shit based on prior earned scientific credit to make massive affiliate income (20% I believe).

  18. Nice work Linus and Team, it's good to see some well made investigative journalism done properly.

  19. Have you not noticed, that QC has gone out of the window with so many products, white goods, brown goods, clothes and food… all just to cut cost, or is it that to many skills have now been lost?

  20. 16:00 Yeah, exactly – product categories like these are a nightmare for consumers trying to make informed decisions. I wish there were more trusted websites or reviewers for categories like vacuum cleaners, washing machines, etc

  21. Also just wanted to add that an independent lab testing review not-for-profit called Choice Magazine were the force that kicked off the campaign that resulted in the world-leading Australian Consumer Law, but they are for sure taken for granted and run only on donations/subscriptions

  22. Compagnies that abuse copyright should lose all their copyrights

  23. You should see what’s happening in Australia with the choice sunscreen spf stuff. Independent company that literally exists to independently verify manufacturers claims tested a bunch of sunscreen to see what the real SPF factor is and one high end brand is losing their minds over it. I’m just waiting for the ACCC fine.

  24. Consumer reports magazines

  25. Stop posting reviews for companies – full stop. Buy and get on with it. If a company sues a customer, stop using their products immediately.

  26. 22:47 Juice didn't like that

  27. The real problem is the Chinese manufacturer that got their design and sold it cheaper on their own. This is why everyone wants to get out of China…

  28. The top 10 in 202x lists shit me to tears because they are hardcore bullshit.

  29. So I will just buy from alibaba then

  30. So LTT CAN do psa's? Who knew

  31. if you live in aus dont buy from lttstore it will take 3 months. worse than wish.

  32. funfact people if you search anything and write reddit at the end

  33. 2:30 The brand appeared out of thin air. 😉

  34. Wonder what that driver was thinking during their fake fight at 13:04

  35. the air purifier on amazon: "Amazon has noticed unusual reviewing activity on this product. Due to this activity, we have limited this product to verified purchase reviews." 😀

  36. As someone who has worked in marketing and SEO… I don't use google and if I want an honest review I check a subreddit 🤷

  37. I was tasked by my friend to fix his friend's portable Ultrasound machine. Don't know why he thought I could do that, since I've never done anything like that before. Weirdly I was able to fix it. Overheating causing the display driver to freak out and corrupt the video signal. Heatsinked it on the proper part of the CPU and not the backside like they had. Created a heat deflector for the power brick. It was a real Mickey Mouse show in there. The power supply was an off the shelf 230W charger for a laptop. The brains was a Cyclone V FPGA chip, and the ultrasound probes used microHDMI connectors (two per probe with a total of 3 probes supported). Anyways, I take to FACEBOOK to warn other people to not buy this company's product at the price they were asking for it, since it was a rebranding of a generic chinese machine and this company was touting it as proprietary, etc. And there were clear fatal flaws in the design that would fall under Programmed Obsolescence. It got heated, I brought receipts to my findings, proving that the mode they had that they claimed to have 100% come up with in 2016 magically had a CLONE model that originally showed up in 2013 with the exact same OS even, slap on a custom boot logo.

  38. There are tests and videos with data numbers are evidence of what the products can do.

  39. Linus was battling to get into a segue pun this time.

  40. I fall asleep faster for some reason when I watch Linus… no hate, just random thought…

  41. Linus bringing out the product is a great challenge 😂😂 "cmon puroair… try me" 😂😂
