We need to lower the quality of Linus' Microphone. Some people might be into saliva related ASMR.
In fairness, Encanto is a terrible movie. Disney sent it to me for free and I felt ripped off
16:45 You can also just download them onto your phone or pc lmao.
I.P. Laws have no basis in actual property rights theory, and are literally just a mechanism for incumbent players to use the law to hurt people who either make no money off of copying content or make an inconsequential amount compared to the amount the incumbent makes. Regular people are forced to subsidize large corporations by forgoing easier or even preferable methods of consumption of freely available information in order to conform to ridiculous laws such as these. It is not the consumer’s duty to ensure the original creator makes money, it’s the original creator’s duty and in his interest to figure out how to monetize around the fact that digital products are easily duplicated.
how long has Linus been doing the tap fingertips together thing? i only really noticed it recently, and now i really notice it haha. anyone else?
Fair use would be 30 secs of film segments? Less than 20%? But yeah, on a TV to illustrate how the colour panels work is definitely promoting the film in the background, and most people have seen it anyway. But you never know what crazy things corporations will do.
My Italian local ISP warned me that he gets visited by the post Police (a branch specialized in online crime) any couple of months because of piracy related issues where he has to give out information about the client
12:20 Linus essentially says if I own a VHS of a movie it's ok to pirate the 4K remastered version of it.
the credit card cartel's control over payment processing is why I thought that decentralized electronic payments like bitcoin was a good idea. of course the cryptobros and the world kind of destroyed what was good about it, not to mention the implementation where transaction times take forever… 2:33:22
We copied and shared sooo many games in the 90s… we even bought them, copied everything, pretended it did no work on our PC and got our money back – until they changed it to open box equals no refund.
7:25 it’s about where did you do it more than who did you do it to. In Switzerland, next door from where that guy lives in Italy, you would not even be fined for using pirated roms.
Love the beard being back.
Going from the title… well I've stored all their old games… thousands of them…lol guess see you all in 20 years then XD.
A few years ago I downloaded the entire Nes, Snes, Genesis, Master System and Gameboy/GBC libraries. Don't feel bad about it at all.
31:40 hell no I spent half an hour finding that L Unit video because I thought it was a $50 motherboard not a $30 one
hmm… something is off in this video, did you use AI again ?
The issue with AI romantic partners is that not many people are willing to follow through the discussion. Knives have existed since cavemen era, but because of Knife crime rates increasing should we ban all knives (or reduce production)?
The better question to ask is, "why are men and women choosing AI partners rather than engaging in real world relationships?"
I like that Linus briefly touched upon people wanting their dopamine hits from their partners. That's very true. But that is just a small part of this complex issue.
Have the culture changed where men and women are much harder to impress? Have we become more rude as a society? Has dating culture and approach culture changed? Are there third spaces in our communities where people can get to know each other? As a society do we have a cohesive culture that lower the bar of understanding one another? Are there solid financial advantages to being with another person, and is it worth the headache that comes with a modern relationship? So much more questions can be asked.
Personally, I'm pro human relationships all the way. But when I try to answer the questions above and others, it blurs the line for me. If you work 10 hours 6 days per week, and you still can't afford a home, do I want to call someone who chooses an AI partner a loser and a gooner? Not really.
1:14:00 I hold hope for Windows if the Xbox team really are making a streamlined and modified version of Windows, that works for desktop.
At 1:28:00 you earned my "like." Thanks for the honest rant. ❤
28:40 – As a user, I hate the thumbnail A/B-testing. It makes it harder to find a video again that I've seen thumbnail for before because it suddenly doesn't look the same.
Yeah you just a boomer lol people just ever getting worse social media and everything has completely eroded our social system so tho I don't personally use not surprised at all that AI has ended up being a boon for people. cheers all, and beat of luck out here
1:18:14 it's gotten so long that we got to see bearded and unbearded Linus, and Emily and Anthony within minutes of each other
Half of Italy is controlled by literal fucking mafia and they go after some guy emulating games instead… 😂
As an Italian, I feel so ashamed we always get famous and go viral for such stupid things 😭
8:30 in those cases tho its legally obtained (am guessing) and its not close to being a full movie it might be 2 minutes at most and in turn will do a massive spotlight and make others watch it after the fact
pirating games will hurt game sales in all cases of the game where you can play it else where (switch/2 have a bit of retro titles but not all of them so on) and in some cases can hurt remasters and remakes so to me its more of the case of "if there is no legal way to play or get it outside of used its fine, or if the remake/remaster is not in making or is older then 5-7 years too" to be my morality of it (and the reason that made me pirate a few things here and there mainly old pokemon or modded old pokemon and i even own the rights to play them from the NSO+ in some cases and physical and even can use the old pokemon on my OG DS if its unmodded)
now you can argue "you should not care for the bottom line for the big game companies" and you can go on to death on that topic but i still like the hope of say kid icarus getting a sequel or any X game and showing the willing to pay for even old games might make them make it or to support the makers of these old games in the cases of NSO where there are 3rd party games and you playing it will show that there is interest in a way they can track on there end can this be wrong sure but its just my world view of it (jail time is still dumb the fine might not be too much of a problem due to the dates of the laws so on)
Nintendo's hard stance on emulation has persuaded me not to buy a Switch2. If only they put as much effort into creating more first-party games, only 1 proper mario on the switch, no MarioKart exclusive, 1 zelda exclusive.
Whatever company this is, Nintendo, allegedly, will long term fail at this rate. Id be worried if i twitch streamed any Nintendo games, legal or not. Like you said, its not what the fact are, its who is suing that determines the outcome.
The upside down Secret Labs logo is bothering me more than I thought it would have.
When I can play Destiny 1 on my PC then I'll be impressed.
Can it please not be nintendo for once? I want to play that Kirby dlc next month and I'd appreciate it if it didn't support bs like this
These short wan shows are killing us.
How are we supposed to live like this????
Sigh…all i can say is that thanks to piracy and emulation and GOG efforts most games and software are preserved forever, most companies are not selling over 20 years old+ games, nor those companies exist anymore, we don't know how the future will be specially with more and more games being a live service garbage and such, those will probably be lost in time forever once they get shut down, hopefully Stop Killing Games will kinda help prevent that…
The "Vader involuntary contract modification" is something corporations are allowed but not the peasantry. I'm waiting on a political party to eliminate that as their platform…
I tried but I can't listen to Linus like this.
Honestly "core ultra" is too confusing and not enough benefit to "deal with it" or care. A little piece of advice is don't change a naming scheme everyone already understands just to make it confusing and seem like every product is the same.
What about abandoned DOS games?
i am 47. i was raised in the pre internet era when we were passive watchers of audiovisuals. but since 2010 or so there has been a revolution with the democratization of both music and tv, so that everybody can do it, thanks to internet and the free sharing softwares. only those who used to have the monopoly, in example kodak, agfa, polaroid and fujifilm are not happy with the idea that we have done trillions of photos without paying them a single coin.
the internet bill and the hardrives storage anual costs more than the budget for bread, and presents of birthdays and christmas of a family. we normalized this overexpensive good because choosing content is addictive compared to how we used to consume in the 80's and 90's only whatever the tv or radio published. the average half a grand to a grand european coins for internet connection and hardrives is the budget what my grandparents had for entire year of food supply with 5 children in the 60's in the countryside of aragon spain.
from their perspective paying 2 european coins a day for the sake of this NEW TV called internet would be a silly waste of money, if they were alive to see this normalization.
i paid NOTHING for 3k music softwares, and i never made a living from music industry since 94, and i will never accept any coin from music, but i have the right to own the computer programs so i can manipulate the audiovisuals to match my taste.
back in the ps2 days in the uae, i guarantee you that less than 5% of the population bought original ps2 games.
in almost every neighborhood, we have a friendly gaming shop nearby where you can ask inquire him about any game you want, he enters the room in the back of his store for a couple of minutes to copy the game on a new CD and you can buy any game for 10 DHS, or 2-2,5 Euros.
Nothing is certain yet. It seems the accusation is not for retrogaming or reviewing but for reselling consoles with SD cards full of ROMs.
Click-through vs watch time? Now I know why so many dumb videos (especially shorts that you can't scrub through) start with "Top 10 thing that blah blah blah. Just wait til you see the last one!"
W stream!
1:26:25 The thing is I can't even get the thing that's "real" anyways, so the choice is to either die alone miserable or have some random dopamine hits to make it not so terrible.
