I wouldnt stick it a standard server rack, look at shockmount server rack flightcase for live events. As someone who works in the live events industry, youll save yourself headaches of worrying about potentially damaging the rack with when either moving it or jolts going over bumps.

Honestly, the systems should be wiped after every lan if at all possible. If i understood things correctly, creating a bootable image is going to need to happen regardless to deal with updates, so getting rid of the images and wiping the 1TB local drive shouldn't be too much of a hassle. It can probably be automated as well, so it should be even less of a hassle. It's a lot easier to wipe everything compared to dealing with any potential issues due to people doing stupid things.

I'm clearly too old for this. To me not having to sit in the same room with others when I game is a feature, not a bug, and I am a social person. I just don't see any upside to this.

This server/pc idea is a standard practice in Vietnam gaming shops. You go in on a fresh PC, play your game, amd when your done it automatically "wipes" the PC for the next person to use. They've been doing it for more than a decade already.
Probably the best segue so far.
