I suspect (this might be completely wrong) that the longer the tech space on the internet has existed the more split it gets into smaller sub communities. Combined with the fact that there are a 'finite number of eyeballs' this could explain some general downturn (not the within a month sudden drop). To show what I mean: if something 'engineery' has happened (12VHP or smth) I will likely look at Der8auer. For monitors I might go to Monitors Unboxed. LTT I would for most videos (there exeptions) describe as tech entertainment which often is light on details. Which I think is what the Reddit post mentioned by Luke is also about: In depth tutorials are not really LTT's 'thing'.

Side note: Linus said that shorts could be excellent for a channel that uses it for tips. Is he aware he runs linus tech TIPS?

On the topic of decreasing views, I think PC hardware fatigue is a big factor. Frankly, PC hardware is a lot less interesting now that competition is anemic, improvements aren't what they used to be, and everything is so expensive. Videos on PC hardware often just leave me feeling frustrated or sad.

Straight up and I HATE Iphones. Thats just reality…the ability to do what you want on android is WHY you buy an android.
If they remove that…"just buy an iphone" is going to be the norm.

OK, even though I’m a huge LTT fan. I’m ready for the other ltt long time peeps to brigade me, but man it’s so hard for me to listen to Linus talk about android and iOS. He literally says all the exact same shit I used to when I was an android Simp. I literally bought the first android phone that ever came on the market the the HTCG one. Which is literally a phone that Linus didn’t buy when it was new or even had experience with so I’ve been in the android ecosystem prior to him…. Up until 2022 I was pretty hard-core android and in general. F*** all apple products. Lockdown ecosystems things I can’t mod etc. etc. it’s just not for me. I thought it was a phone for old people, computers for old people, etc… I just had a terrible view of Apple and yeah, I’m not gonna sit here and be an apple stand either… they do some lame ass things a bunch and they’re not perfect for sure but…. I got set up with fucking Google. Honestly I am just so done with them. After being android and google loyal since 2008, ( and yes, with other Google things even before their first android phone ) I decided I had enough with all of their bullshit and there is quite a bunch of it. So in 2022 I decided to try an iPhone. I picked up a $100 iPhone X to try it out and see if I could deal with the operating system cause I thought I would hate it. And for the first couple weeks for sure I was not liking it. I wasn’t comfortable. Everything was different and it felt unintuitive. But I figured out that I broke through a barrier of just a big change from using the same goddamn smart phone operating system. 2010 2011 2012 213 14 16, 17 18, 1920 2122 910 11 12, 13 14, 15 16, 17 18, 19 20, 21,22. For 15 years, and after I broke the barrier with the Apple keyboard and how their gestures work and how their back buttons work, etc. and how they have different parts of their options and operating system hidden the same exact way that android does, but you just have to know a different system to find it…. Suddenly, I realize that Apple will actually some trash ass non-enthusiast developer. And I also realize that the feel of an icon in your hand at least until I left android in 2022 was far superior than the feel of any android phone, regardless of its. The iPhone 14 Pro Max felt like you were worth holding $2000 worth of phone whereas a pixel six Pro or seven Pro felt like you were holding 500 bucks in electronics inside of a shitty ass case. And while Samsung phones were a bit better not by much. Admittedly, now that Apple has lightened the newer iPhones after that… they don’t feel quite as expensive as they used to when they had a little bit of heft to them, but like heavy electronics don’t necessarily mean good electronics, but the fuel in the hand is still not comparable between literally any android phone versus the iPhone. They all feel like shit comparatively and again literally been an android simp day one. Yeah Apple definitely is very lacking on features, as far as staying on the front line of things, but also the inverse of that is true where Google tries too many things on their operating system, and it often leads to extreme bugs. I don’t know why our dear Linus only calls out the bugs on iOS 18. Yes I noticed them too. There’s definitely a few and it pissed me off because when I first switched the bugs just weren’t there with iOS 16 and 17., 18 definitely started introducing more lag and bugs just like I hated in android. However- consider considering how much more is actually done on device on the Apple products. It’s just absolutely absurd to criticize them for a few more hitch that makes them more comparable to android then they were before. Google tells you that they’re talk to text is processed on phone. Yeah you try an iPhone and an android made in the same year next to each other and see how that works out for you. Google does not process all talk to text data when you’re trying to do dictation or speak to text. It’s simply untrue. They have a very very basic model loaded onto the android system locally but if you have to use that you’re fucked and you can’t use talk to text. When you have a connection, the system still isn’t even close to how good apples dictation is. it’s slower and less accurate and I don’t get how that’s possible, being that Google is so much further ahead in AI and a machine learning then apple is. Yeah the iPhone isn’t perfect and line is make sure to note that every time he pretends to try one out for a very short amount of time and then also doesn’t even know how the fucking phone or operating system works so he complains because he doesn’t know how it actually works and doesn’t know how to change the settings or do the things he wants but he blames it on Apple because he’s been using android all of his life and he’s trained to use android so he doesn’t understand that he has to learn a whole new fucking operating system. It’s so irritating. I figured this out on my own and I had to push through some tough times because like I said 15 years of android and then switching to an iPhone, from Apple, the company that I absolutely despise as someone who is into PCs and tech and open system systems – it took me a minute. Most of the differences were easy to get around, and I found a lot of frustrations, but actually after I spent even a little bit of time trying to figure out how things worked with iOS either by figuring out myself or searching it all my problems are solved. Literally everything Linus is compared about besides a little bit of glitching here in there ( still not as bad as literally any android device I’ve kept for an entire year. Android is so fucking glitchy. It’s so fucking bloated and inefficient , argue all you want it just fucking is- every making model the only way around it is to have a custom rom and who the fuck even does that now and there’s still problems even if you do that. I’m sorry I get the line. It doesn’t like Apple and I don’t like their business practices either and I still don’t love closing ecosystems but – I’m so tired of him talking shit all the time because he’s never actually given an honest shot. I would love to see him. Try an iPhone for a fucking year and not bitch out and get the cheap one. Oh yeah, I can’t imagine why you don’t like the features on the cheapest fucking phone available when you daily drive and also test out the top end of every phone available who could imagine that the base version of the iPhone sucks compared to the best versions of every other phone? When he picked that phone for his trial for 30 days, I was like, dude what the fuck are you even doing? All of his reasons for picking the cheap phone we’re totally bogus like he wants a good camera. He wants a high refresh screen rate and he’s a fucking millionaire. There’s absolutely no goddamn reason for him to pick the cheapest version of the iPhone, except with a big screen because he went with the 15 or 16+ or whatever it was instead of the promax with a slightly better chip better screen, better cameras, etc., etc…. But then he wants to complain and act like he bought the best and it wasn’t good enough. Yeah iOS 18’s had problems. I definitely noticed it. It made me mad too for sure. But as a serious enthusiast, someone who is built and loved custom PC shit all my days as well as android – rom-ing. Moding and flashing I am definitely not lacking an experience and it’s just clear that he refuses to give Apple phones a fair shot. 30 or 90 days isn’t enough and neither is it just to start bitching when you won’t even look up how to do the task you wanna do don’t care if you think that’s not right that you have to look it up. I’m sorry that that’s how technology is if I handed any phone to my 90 year-old grandmother she’s gonna need to be explained how to use it. It doesn’t fucking matter how smart you fucking think you are- if you’re not used to an operating system things have to be explained it’s not going to be 100% intuitive that you just know it off the bet unless you spend time actually like learning it yourself which line has never taken time to do for the Apple products that he bitches about so much. Every single review he does he just complains and complains and complains and literally 75% of the time it’s because he just didn’t Google how to fix his problem immediately and literally he would’ve figured out that there was like two clicks or one long press he could do and then he would have the option he wanted seriously I’ve watched every single wan show in the past 4 years as well as pretty much every LTT video that comes out on all of their channels, I mean, I don’t watch some of the reviews. They do a couple things on their side channels, but I have a pretty close eye on this group of people like I enjoy them it’s fun. I like all the people at at least the person as they put out and I enjoy the writing like it’s just good fun. And sometimes I even learned a thing or two, but- it’s just so clear to me that no matter how much line it says that he’s not biased or doesn’t hate Apple and he probably doesn’t hate Apple. Why would he like that’s dumb but he’s definitely just like most of us have been at some point and because Apple has always been like lockdown ecosystem opponent that kind of like poops in the face of like user freedom and you can do whatever you want anytime you want with whatever means you want- you just won’t even give it a chance and I see it clearest day just like I was and I’m sure just like a lot of others are. It’s easy to look down on it because you don’t wanna give it a chance especially when so many people you know might ask snooty about their iPhone or their iPad or whatever cause

When people talk about AI bubble bursting, its not about people rejecting these AI's, its about the AI industry collapsing on itself due to the non-existing return of investment. Most of the money in AI now is tech companies giving their own money to these AI companies to prop them up, when those companies want profits for their investment, where is that comibg from, because what ever normal people are paying for that AI doesnt even come close to covering the cost let alone profits.

I use both apple and android devices for different things, and man, why is google trying to become my apple device. Eventually all that’ll be left without custom os installs etc will be the fact android can use eq and apple cant. Some of my favorite tech videos were when JaysTwoCents did custom PC builds for people like Terry Crews and Post Malone. When that one viewer said they wanted more custom PC videos, I think that's what they meant. A custom PC that is truly custom and not a build guide for a specific budget or a specific use case, but something the vast majority of us are never going to be able to do, and done in a fun and entertaining way. Bring back Pimp My Car, but make it PCs.

Do more smart content on AI to get more views. Highlighting strengths, dangers and weaknesses. AI is the most important tech development these days. You can get a different audience through that!
