  1. Oops! At 7:40 David gets his ancient game engines mixed up! Rise of the Triad was actually built on a modified version of id's Wolfenstein 3D Engine.

  2. Hard to convey the experience through a 2D video, but I'm sure kids who were able to play this 30 years ago thought it was magical.

  3. mod it using meta quest 3 ✌✌

  4. I don't know if the video mentions this, but apparently the original System Shock from 1994 (amazing game) has native support for this.

  5. I can't believe they didn't try System Shock.

  6. How much were these Pepsi's XD

  7. I'm surprised no one made a SAO reference, cuz that looks so much like the headset in the show 😐😐

  8. The Models are the only thing they have worked on in War Thunder. Everything else is just from the 10 year old game

  9. Now try the newer gen vr and see how it go πŸ˜‚ with same games

  10. I'm only here because I saw the Descent final boss in the thumbnail.

  11. Finally, a video that isn't an ad first and foremost

  12. My head spins
    Vertigooooo

  13. 90s technology maybe wasn't that good, but it sure looked much cooler. And there is something about being on the bleeding edge. Today, when most rough edges are sanded away, you lose a lot of the character. It's just not as fascinating anymore.

  14. its good right?

  15. Man its so long ago, I cant remember whose headset we use to manufacture here in Canada.

  16. I was too poor to buy this in the 90's and I am still too poor to buy a VR headset now πŸ˜€

  17. I got nauseous watching it on my laptop screen, and I do not get nauseous in VR.

  18. When I heard the next game was Descent I immediately said "Oh no!" out loud. I knew people that got nauseous just by watching that game, not even playing it.

  19. C'mon Linus, you needed to play these games for longer and try out more games.

  20. I played descent in vr back in 95, it was pretty dang cool

  21. Man I got motion sickness just from watching the gameplay on a normal screen .. how did you survive that much!?

  22. Guys, Quake 2 has a VR mod for full 6 DOF . It was fun . Played all the way through. VR companies are stupid for not making them all native. Team Beef is doing its best

  23. Is that pronunciation of bagel a Canadian thing?

  24. Descent πŸŽ‰ one of my favorite games from that era ❀

  25. The fact that quake didn’t map the head movement to the headset is truly baffling.

  26. Vuzix doesn't seem much like xreal

  27. Disappointing sponsor segue? That's kinda rude.

    Warthunder!
    … Oh.

  28. This actualy blows my mind I had 0 idea that stuff like this was ever made before the oculus and with it being like 20 years older it’s wild

  29. Rise of the Triad use to make me feel sick just playing it. Same as Wolfenstein

  30. Just got done playing war thunder. Don’t forget your premium account

  31. 8:26 it's been like twenty years 😭❀️

  32. I never tried that one, but I did try Virtuality in 1991 or 92 in Montreal
The games were super basic, but the feeling of being in another world was wild.

  33. A challenge to Linus,,, Find a solid peace of technology from 1994 that can give solid compilation to current technology as well…

    Waiting for Linus's find

  34. a real flightstick and this vr headset would have been a cool combo back then for descent instead of that weird controller

  35. Its a bit sad there is no current VR version of Decent (game code is open source).

  36. I loved decent, it was a challenge, super touchy game

  37. Remember selling these back in the day – this with flight unlimited combined motion seat simulator (full motion cockpit setup) was just next level – remembering we have never seen anything like it before..

  38. You mean wolfenstein. That was the gane running on the doom engine.

  39. @13:25 Same… lol.

  40. VR5 had potential to be a really cool show, but as all fox shows back then if it didn't gain an audience right away they killed it off. Penn Gillette (magician) makes an appearance even https://youtu.be/DbQkO8HUuhc?list=PLjxyKWyZILpKmDepmrNcDMl8AAIE3stXf&t=638

  41. Still looks cooler than vr sets today

  42. 90s were like "I am limited by the technology of my time but I am gonna still try"

  43. David did a great job guiding Linus through. Those headsets look like they would turn anyone's stomach. Also that is a great 90's shirt, fits the era πŸ™‚

  44. Me: "Play Descent… Play Descent…. Play Descent"
"We got one more game. We got Descent"
    Me: "YESSS! Hurl baby hurl!"
3D glasses got huge after 3D-cards exploded, but they were way too expensive for a teenager.

  45. Why cant linus get enterprise grade things????? I have a supplier hor h200s and hardware
