Oops! At 7:40 David gets his ancient game engines mixed up! Rise of the Triad was actually built on a modified version of id's Wolfenstein 3D Engine.
Hard to convey the experience through a 2D video, but I'm sure kids who were able to play this 30 years ago thought it was magical.

90s technology maybe wasn't that good, but it sure looked much cooler. And there is something about being on the bleeding edge. Today, when most rough edges are sanded away, you lose a lot of the character. It's just not as fascinating anymore.

I was too poor to buy this in the 90's and I am still too poor to buy a VR headset now 😀
I got nauseous watching it on my laptop screen, and I do not get nauseous in VR.
When I heard the next game was Descent I immediately said "Oh no!" out loud. I knew people that got nauseous just by watching that game, not even playing it.
C'mon Linus, you needed to play these games for longer and try out more games.
I played descent in vr back in 95, it was pretty dang cool

Guys, Quake 2 has a VR mod for full 6 DOF . It was fun . Played all the way through. VR companies are stupid for not making them all native. Team Beef is doing its best

Its a bit sad there is no current VR version of Decent (game code is open source).
I loved decent, it was a challenge, super touchy game
