Youtube pushes "free" movies. So it technically competes with them keeping ppl on platform who are looking for movies or 24 hour youtube streams. They often advertise with a bar of movies to watch "free". I think that is why.

Ok. Windows. 1) i know it should be good out of the box. So it is fair to be disappointed 2) there are simple fixes for all the annoyances! You can disable web search! Replace the startmenu. Use powertoys run or other 'raycast' launchers. Enable the old right click. Get full task switcher buttons back, etc… Once set up it can be awesome. macOS also requires tons of tweaking around annoying stuff. Linux more (maybe omarchy doesn't 🤔). With a good launcher , Winget, wsl2new terminal.. windows has so much cool stuff there days

The worst thing about Windows (11 especially) is all the shortcuts to websites that explain what to do, instead of just sending you to the right place under the control panel.

I've switched completely to linux a couple of months ago and i haven't looked back since.
The moment it was clear that they screwed up their AI strategy, MS products are just not a consideration anymore because i am 100% sure they will become very underhanded with data collection now etc.
This now just validates my decision further.

I agree on the fact that Windows is a mess… It gets worse and worse with every iteration but I still just don't get a lot of the crap that people are constantly crying about. I never used Windows search once since I started using Windows in the 95 era and I work with thousands of files. And who the hell used Windows Media Player like EVER? Winamp and PowerDVD back in the day but WMP? REALLY? And who actually thinks Windows Explorer is good for anything? I use Total Commander since it pretty much came out back in the middle ages 😅

To answer the what happens to the left over money in class actions question I work in the industry and can answer that question.

It depends on what's in the settlement but it actually almost never goes to the attorneys. You can pull up the settlement agreement and usually figure out what is going to happen. It's got some jargon but usually it's not too bad.
If there's a large amount of it left over it will often get sent out to the people who cashed their first check as additional money from the settlement.
If it's a smaller amount where that isn't practical then it often goes to a charity. (Cy Pres)
Occasionally, it will go back to the company that settled but that's pretty uncommon.
