The reality of living in developed countries, you would think stuff would be cheaper since the income is lower. It would be true for the food, house etc untill you need electronic stuff then suddenly things get way more expensive than in western countries.

It could not happen to a nicer person. I've met Brazilians, and they are some of the most friendly and outgoing people I've ever met. They have a rich culture and are warm people. I wish they had lower tariffs because it's so difficult to ship things to and from Brazil. I've wanted so many comic books from there, but the shipping and export taxes are insane. As a Brazilian, I must say that, while things are crazy expensive here due to taxes, some of the things he said about pricing need some context. Import duties (and other taxes) in Brazil usually varies between 90 and 120% when you buy something from another country. A LTT screwdriver would cost around 110 USD with shipping, so, total cost would be around 220 USD (yes, we pay taxes on the shipping cost too. It’s stupid, I know), or a bit less than minimum wage (~ 250 USD) for a month’s work. The backpack would cost about 800-850 USD, and while it’s true that you can buy an used car for that value, that will be for a car that is literally falling apart with tons of mechanical issues. A decent, cheap, 25 year old car with manual windows, no power steering or ac, that runs and drives, would cost more like 1200-1400 USD.

Im interested to know if you have to pay tarriff on 2nd hand stuff, last gen chips and gcards etc are still damn good but can be cheap if you find a good deal and WAY cheaper if theres no tarriffs on it
